More like England's Greatest Ghosts. No, actually, more like Ghosts Sighted in the UK. Still an entertaining read mostly. I cheated on it with a romance novel when this one got boring somewhere in the middle, but then it reeled me back in with ghost sightings of ill-fated queens. Since I'm the go-to cousin in my family for stories, especially scary ones, I will hang on to this book for excellent material. Next time they nag me to tell a scary story, the little rascals are going to wet their beds.

c1986. Christmas present 2008. Great quick read. Ideal for the "garage sessions" when I have forgotten to take the current book that I am reading. Some new and some old. Wish the font was bigger though.

Världens största spöken är den fjärde boken jag läser i den här ”serien” och jag tycker generellt att böckerna av Blundell håller en hög kvalitet. I den här boken är det framförallt den första delen om hämndlystna spöken som fångade min uppmärksamhet och jag fann historien om mumiesarkofagen som tillhörde prinsessan Ammon-Ra och världshuset i Tisakurt som otroligt intressanta. Sen blev det tyvärr lite kaka på kaka. Flera spöken beskrivdes väldigt kort och jag hade hoppats på lite mer kvalitet framför kvantitet; vissa spöken och spökhus hade kunnat beskrivas över flera sidor utan problem. Så att kalla boken för ”Världens största spöken” är lite vilseledande, det här handlar mest om spökupplevelser i England (och ändå fanns inte Ancient Ram Inn med?!). Det här hade kunnat vara så mycket bättre.

We bought as much of this series as we could. Not really knowing what we are buying but loving
the covers and the titles.

So we started to read this book and ended up loving it.

It has short one pager and less stories in it. No drama, very little guessing and all the info at hand.
Which made for a nice change in this genre specifically. I cannot recall a third of the stories I have read but you can be certain that I will try to work one of more of them into my writing in future. Even if it is slightly altered.

Give this book and series a go. I can tell you now, you will not regret the decision.

The World’s Greatest Ghosts, by Nigel Blundell and Roger Boar, is a little old book that’s full of ghost stories. I don’t know how many are really true, or how many are the result of things like drugs, alcohol, sleep deprivation, sleep paralysis, fakery, etc, but they are nevertheless very interesting stories.
I really enjoyed this book, it was a delight to read.

Interesting stories, however it does get repetitive. I often read this before bed to fall asleep to, however I would reccomend to anyone interested in ghost history.

Quite a few words I had never seen before in this book. Some stories are repetitive and boring. I do enjoy the tone of voice used by the authors.

A smorgasborg of ghost encounters presented in a hard-nose journalistic way. It contains most of the famous hauntings such as Borley Rectory, Glamis Castles ghosts, some well documented, others a bit dubious. Rather than simply scaring the reader, the stories have been researched to provide as much of the back story as possible. It's not as extensive as More Great Ghost Stories , but it is still an enjoyable read for those lightning-storm nights.

I don't usually write reviews, bu this book needs one.

The stories are mostly focused on strange events in the UK, not around the world. What's more, the chapter about ghosts at sea only has a couple of actual ghost stories, the others are just stories of ships that were found without crew on board.

Overall, the book is poorly written, it reads like a fifth grader's project (or collection of projects). I can't believe a collection of ghost stories can be such a bore to read.

What a great book!! I love reading anything about the supernatural, and this book didn't disappoint. What I really like about it was not only the fact that it covered so many different ghosts from around the world, but that it contained factual information only. Sometimes books can be marred by the individual authors opinion, so it was refreshing to have a book that didn't include opinion at all.

Fantastic Book. Lots of Grisley Tales from all around. Some of them quite frightening. Great to read curled up on a dark cold night. Second time reading it and still as interesting as the first time. I’m not sure if they are all true, but an interesting read anyway

A good read with all the most famous stories. Whether you believe in ghosts or not we all like to be scared a little. To dismiss supernatural stories is to jettison a little of our inner child.
