This book is a fantastic overview of classical architecture. Each essay, coupled with its accompanying illustrations, provided detailed information, but not at the expense of being too difficult to understand for those unfamiliar with the history and terminology. Yes, it is only an introduction to classical architecture, but it is a very comprehensive introduction at that.
This book gives a really good overview of classical architecture, and is presented in a way that makes it approachable even if you are not a student or an architect yourself. Each double page spread covers a subsection: one a page of text, the other with drawings and diagrams relating to the text.
