Return to the River is the result of a unique 15-year collaboration among the authors investigating the decline and management of Columbia River salmon and steelhead populations. It advances the radical notion that the Columbia River is, in fact, a river, and that the solution to the loss of salmon and other species, is to "return to the river" - to a vision of the Columbia River as an ecosystem, rather than an economic machine.
