So many much in this book. It's so twisted. I love it, things you wouldn't expect have happened. Shane loves his brother Tariq unconditionally. Tariq relies on his brother for everything. The bond between these two is crazy, but then again, their twins. They rely on each other for everything, but little did they know, they were looking for a different kind of love, and boy did they find it!

I liked the book. It kept me intrigued, however if there was a climax, I completely missed it and I kind of didn't see much of a point. However, it was still a decent book.

Marguerite Batista is mentally trapped by demons. She's in a race to outrun the evil spirit in order to save her and her four-year-old twins, Shane and Tariq. Without a safe haven, Marguerite converges with a commoner and in a fog of lust, the misplaced Batista family would witness a first hand account of murder. How would this affect Shane and Tariq?
Shane is the devil. Or at least that's what everyone keeps saying. Only older by five minutes, Shane is expected to behave as the oldest. After watching as his mother is brutally killed in the streets like a dog, he goes into protector mode and keeps a careful watch over younger twin Tariq. In and out of different homes, Shane is wreaking havoc on his guardians. Gambling, smoking, drinking, hustling and sex almost always occupy Shane's time. But sometimes the attention just isn't fulfilling enough and he longs for his mother. Although he goes to great lengths to hide the needy, loving and sincere side of his self, will he be able to keep his grip on reality?
Tariq is sweet and very emotional. He is often times vying to keep his older brother out of trouble. He can't remember much about the last moments of his mother's life, but he knows that Shane will always be there to keep him from harms way. Tariq becomes depressed, withdrawn and longs to be in his brother's company after they're separated. In an attempt to keep himself drug free, he pretends to be okay and is placed in a new home in a new surrounding. Like a lost little puppy, Tariq meets Janelle and is instantly drawn to her bravado. Desperate to keep two people he loves happy, Tariq is wedged between his brother, his hero and his wife his savior. Will he chose sides?
After living separate lives, the twins soon discover that there is more than just a physical difference between the two. Tariq is a devoted husband and doting father. His main agenda is to maintain a comfortable family life. Shane is as always devious and all about himself. After a short stay in reformatory school, he's back on the scene with his sinister sidekicks, Bricks and Misty, who offer even more of a disturbing twist.
DOUBLE DIPPIN' is so off the wall with its oddity, desperation for any semblance for love and understanding of anomalous behaviors/relationships that readers will quickly become drawn into each page. Allison Hobbs doses readers with a deafening shrill of insanity as well as the damaging effects that ensue because of it.

I disliked all the characters in this book. They were all certifiably crazy. The storyline was a bit unrealistic to me but then this is not one of the genres I like to read. Ms. Hobbs was the chosen author of the month for my book club so I read with an open mind. While I wanted to continue reading to find out what would happen at the end, I found there were parts in this book that made it unnecessarily long. The ending was a total twist and I thought this was the best part of the book.
I give this book three stars because I think the author did a great job weaving the story together and it would be a good book for the reader who enjoys this genre.

Allison Hobbs jumps right into a story so that no time is wasted. The twins lives were tragic from the very beginning. Tariq was shown affection while Shane was not. Who they became while being bounced from home to home was not immediately obvious.
Really good read. About to start book 2 Big Juicy Lips. I must confess to having an affinity to reading any story set in Philly

Decent I Guess
Not really impressed with this first book in a series of five. There's definitely potential, but that's all I see at this point. The secondary characters were much more interesting, and it's a good thing they seem to be featured in the rest of the series. I'm not giving up yet, because of Allison Hobbs' rep.

Book 1 of a 5 book series introduces the reader to a set of twin boys named Tariq and Shane. Born as a result of a rape, their mother favors one twin over the other, and her mental illness leads her to believe that demons are after them all. After a tragic accident one day, the twins are bounced around from house to house. I found this book quite intense and it kept me engaged with my body as well. My stomach seemed to be constantly clenched waiting for the next situation to come up. This is a sign of a good read to me. Some of the subject matter was disturbing for me but it also added to the intensity.
I would recommend this book if you like Urban writers or if you are just starting out in this genre. The writing is suspenseful and even if you don't like some of the scenerios you just get involved. The author's keep things raw and real.

My co-worker recommended this book to me. It was very entertaining and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time; however, there were some disturbing things that happened which caused me to have weird dreams or shall I say nightmares at times. I normally hold on to books because I don’t want to part with the characters and their story but I was ready to put these characters and their endless “drama” behind me. This is not my typical read so that may be part of the reason for my reaction.

Wow..Just because two people are twins doesn't mean they're alike. Tariq and Shane were like day and night...and in this case good and evil. Tariq the soft spoken gentleman, and Shane the deeply disturbed badass. Their deranged mother was killed right in front of them when they were kids which left the twins in foster homes until they were legal. Tariq went the straight route, marrying and having a son. While Shane became a gigolo, using his good looks to cater to lonely women in exchange for cash. I truly enjoyed this book. Ms. Hobbs is a wonderful storyteller and I can't wait to read the sequel.

This is definitely Urban Fiction. It's everything you'd expect from a "ghetto-book" but somehow it manages to be a little more. The assortment of characters were all very well fleshed out. I found myself genuinely invested in the way the two brother's in this story turned, how they lived their lives. All the way up until the end I was fully engaged in the story.
I'd recommend this (this one ONLY not the ridiculous sequels that followed!!)to someone who likes Urban-Lit. In fact i actually have recommended it a few times and those people loved the book.

Enjoyed this book to the fullest! If the remainder of the books in this series are as good as Double Dipping, this will become one of my favorite series! These twins are like no other. Their mother's life & death caused them more trauma than anyone could ever imagine. Shane's life was truly out of control while his brother Tariq allowed someone to take total control of his. Page after page, this story became more intriguing. The addition of Brick & Misty into Shane's life just caused more turmoil. Great book & looking forward to read the rest of the series.

FAVORITE BOOK OF ALL TIME i am hooked to this book forever. The twins were too funny especially Shane i liked his bold personalities he wasn't afraid to say what was on his mind but let me get to the ending oh the ending made me so mad i wish it would have been a good twist instead of "That" is all i can say i read the others too much ify stuff going on for my taste and Misty is soooooo ghetto lmao so ghetto and Brick.... is too big for all the mess that is going on in this book "smiles" thank you Allison keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!!.

This is the first book I read by this author and it was very good. I thought the twins in the book were really different but the more I read I thought they were looking for the same thing. Being a twin myself I found the twin characters interesting. Also, I will never look at "evaporated milk" the same. LOL

Now here's another book you can read over ,and over again and will not get bored.You get so deep into the storyline that characters come alive off the page.~Allison Hobbs~ is one of my favorite authors....

Every character had issues and should all be seeing a shrink. By the time I finished reading I felt I needed a shrink too just for a reading. This book was definitely far fetched!!
