Three years after the popular video game The World was shut down, Tokio Kuryuu cannot wait for The World R:X to come out. Unfortunately for him, he forgets to reserve a copy and finds himself with no access to the game. That is, until a mysterious new transfer student forces him into the game and makes him her servant.

Halfway through, DNF. Annoyed by all the panty shots of a 14 y/o girl, sorry but no thanks, not for me! Nothing about it is interesting, either. Annoying protagonist. No charm of the games. The only thing going for it is that the art isn't horrible and is even cute at times. That's it. The rest is just tedious.
I have more fondness for the games and .hack//sign, but beyond that, I don't much enjoy a lot of these side materials.
I'm annoyed enough I actually wrote a review lmao
Guess I won't be reading the other volumes, I can't even get through this one. Good riddance~
The story was interesting enough, perhaps not entirely original, but intriguing. However, I felt that the amount of fanservice detracted greatly from the art and story. It seemed that almost every panel with the main heroine (I forget her name...) was fanservice.
Ok - so I won't review this til I finish book #3, to comment on the entire series. However, I will say I am psyched to read more in the .hack world...very cool concept when I read/watched .hack//sign back in the day, and a lot has happened since then. Looks like this series is tapping into the older heroes a bit which is cool since I remember them. Onto book #2.
