Lucinda at the Window

Rate this book
Ohio, 1901 - Lucinda Harris had been haunted by childhood tragedy all her life and worked diligently to keep those memories deeply buried. While visiting the ancient manor home of her best friend, she spots a dark stranger one night on the lawn. She finds herself suddenly plunged into a nightmarish world. Has insanity finally taken Lucinda's mind or is it something far more diabolical? Something is amiss in the Manor, but none of the guests or the servants can pinpoint what it is. Lucinda is acting strangely; the groundskeeper has disappeared; a feeling of gloom hangs over everything. The answer to the mystery seems to lie in a worn journal found buried in the cellar. The entries become stranger and more terrifying as they read on, until it reveals the horrible truth about the Manor. Is there a connection between the two? None of them could have predicted the strength of the force manipulating them all...or the wrath of a woman they all thought they knew.

Katherine Nabity began work on her first novel (Lucinda at the Window) in 1998. Fresh out of college with a degree in English and aspirations to write, she asked her then-boyfriend, Eric, to keep her accountable with a weekly writing assignment.

When she turned over three pages of gothic atmosphere, Eric's imagination ran with it and provided a compelling plot. Not only was Lucinda at the Window born, but so was a great writing team. Katherine and Eric have been married since 2000 and their progress as authors is on-going and ambitious.

Originally an Omaha, NE native, Katherine now lives in the Tempe, AZ. In addition to her writing, she has a passing interest in web design and maintains EntangledContinua.com and VOTS.org. Katherine also enjoys reading, playing ultimate frisbee, and learning about early 20th century stage magic.

It is Ohio 1901 and a dark force resides at O' Malley Manor. Strange things begin to happen after Lucinda Harris's body is taken over by a dark shadowy figure and she must forever live her remaining life as a ghost. It is only when the guests of the manor find an old diary that they begin to figure out the true mystery as to why the house is always cold and bad things seem to happen. Can they survive in the haunted house? Read on and find out for yourself.

This was a pretty good supernatural ghost story I read that I got for free on Smashwords. Definitely check it out for yourself.
