About the author

Sandra Kitt is the author of more than twenty novels, including The Color of Love, Significant Others, and Close Encounters, as well as numerous short stories.

Her work has been nominated for the NAACP Image Award and has appeared on theEssence and Blackboard bestseller lists. She is the recipient of the Romantic Times Lifetime Achievement Award and the Zora Neale Hurston Literary Award.

A native New Yorker, Kitt previously worked as a graphic designer, creating cards for UNICEF, illustrating books, and exhibiting her own work, which is included in the collection of the Museum of African American Art in Los Angeles. She formerly served as the managing director of the Richard S. Perkin Collection in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History.

it was a very delightful book! Ms. Kitt is my FAVORITE author! so I knew it was going to be good. Now I am looking for my "Mr. Cooper" LOL

A Beautiful Story

This is a love story with a wonderful background story. When Michaela decided to spend her summer in Memphis, her one thought was to find peace after breaking off her relationship. Little did she know that her life would change irrevocably with a chance encounter with ET, a young man who was HIV positive.

Cooper was a man who sought redemption by helping and caring for others after suffering a life altering loss. The great attraction to Michaela was beautiful.

I really loved that this story evolved around their commitment to helping others, showing their selfless, caring ways. I strongly recommend this book as it touches on so many important issues and is well written.

WBC: african american lead character

This book is set in Memphis (my hometown) and has a special connection to St Jude Childrens Research Hospital. It caught my eye while perusing the shelf in the library so I chose to use it for my WBC selection

I won't lie, I got a little teary eyed at a couple points in this story. It was well rounded and I appreciated that the romance wasn't rushed. I wouldn't be embarrassed to have my mother read this one. Highly recommend.
