I found this much more useful than the Laurie Smith book I read recently. Lots of great ideas for creating welcoming spaces in your home. The focus is on living rooms and bedrooms - nothing on kitchens, entries, or other spaces. Also focuses mainly on furniture and accessories and their placement. Lots of lovely pictures. This would be a good resource to add to my shelves for ideas an inspiration.
This is a nice, uncomplicated book on interior design. It's modern but not too modern. Lots of pictures and easy principles. The authors make a lot of furniture and do design for Restoration Hardware, Crate and Barrel and other chains like those. It's not 100 percent my style, but much closer than most design books that are so over the top.
How to furnish and decorate a welcoming home in the style they call "soft modern". I think this style is also represented by Williams-Sonoma catalog. I loved their ideas and found the book instructive.
