For the lay person this an intense read but it will leave you thinking and meditating after each page.

At first I thought this would be just like Professor Roberto’s first book on Dr. Plinio dealt more with the chronology of his life. Instead this book gives a slice of Dr. Plinio’s vision of Our Lady’s victory as foreseen by St. Louis de Montfort.

This is a wonderful book. I am usually reticent to buy summary works of other thinkers, but as this is published by Preserving Christian Publications, and they have never steered me wrong before, I took a chance on this. It was a good bet (though since this English translation was published in 2019, they are not exactly "preserving" here....but enough with the nitpicking)

The problem I generally have with summary works is that the author has to have something interesting to say about the other thinker he is writing on. This requires something of the author which most mere anthologists lack. Luckily, Robert De Mattei is worthy of his subject who was a friend and mentor to De Mattei. Though De Mattei gives a good overview of Plinio's life and thoughts, he is unafraid to extend his analysis into the events of the present day. Though the books is on a whole dedicated to Plinio's work, the book itself is assuredly De Mattei's. Though the thoughts of De Mattei and Plinio sometimes get a bit mixed, this is a credit to the incisiveness of the author (and anyway, the footnotes guide the reader towards Plinio's original works).

The end effect was ideal: After reading this book I understood Plinio's thought, and I wanted to learn more about his works. This is a great book. It is both politically informative and spiritually edifying. Every Catholic should read it.

A very good overview of Prof. Plinio Correa de Oliveira's life. De Mattei also shows how Prof. Plinio was continuation of a line of Counter-Revolutionary persons and how Prof. Plinio adds substantially to counter-revolutionary thought with his book Revolution & Counter-Revolution.
