Sometimes when I see a political read at a thrift store, I pick it up. This one was published over 10 years ago (enter the burgeoning tea-party). I like to compare the state of politics over the course of the years and see what has changed. In this case,it's not much. America continues to de-value religion, Schumer still has quirky quoteables, and we still refer to black republicans, as--well, black republicans. Hewitt got a few things wrong, but one thing is for sure...eventually America did indeed paint the map red. Worth the read, and not too heavy at 200 pages.
Although many of Hewitt's predictions proved to be half-baked, I did appreciate the structure of his argument on how Catholic theology is now almost completely at odds with the Democratic Party . . . and how that has made it a target of the left.
