This is the definitive biography of a famous developer and fascinating entrepreneur. Born in Indiana, Carl Fisher helped build the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and headed promotion for the Indy 500. But these feats were only prologue to his grandest adventure, as primary developer and promoter of Miami Beach.
I have read the three major biographies of Carl Fisher. This is the latest. I did not see big differences between it and "Pacesetter" by Jerry Fisher. Still, it was a great refresher. Perhaps the most significant difference is that this one focuses less on Fisher's work in Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and more on Miami. Mark Foster's affiliations run deep in Miami and that in large measure is the reason. If you are fascinated by pioneers of auto racing, this is an important read.
