Essays examine architecture as a profession, city planning, the teaching of architectural design, and the social and environmental aspects of architecture
Serge Ivan Chermayeff, born Sergei Ivanovich Issakovich (Russian: Сергей Ива́нович Иссако́вич), was a Russian-born British architect, industrial designer, writer, and co-founder of several architectural societies, including the American Society of Planners and Architects.
3.5. Stars. It's a pretty fascinating story or rather collection of essays that tell a story. You get a really good sense then the author is both a practicing planner but also a critic of the impact the build environment can have on people places and things. The social commentary is not over the top and the writing is always interesting. I think if I had read this 30 years ago it might have been more relevant and ranked a clean 4.
