This was a re-read of a book I bought in the 1980s and I have to say that it is somewhat dated. Whilst it does give a flavour of life in Pompeii in the year 79AD it is very much a work of fiction and concentrates very much on the romances of the characters.
I enjoyed reading it once more but it was not very exciting or stimulating. A good light read for someone who wants to read about historical events in a lighter setting rather than a more factual account.
