I haven't yet found a vegetable guide that has both the breadth and depth that I'm looking for. My hope is to be able to identify a much larger number of vegetables at farmers markets and such, and also to have an idea of what I might do with produce I haven't tried before should I suddenly decide to bring it home.
This book, however, seemed more concern with providing artsy photographs than with really covering the expanse of vegetables out there. I did like the fact that they included a section on mushrooms. In something like the section on winter squashes, however, there is not really enough detail to help one know the difference between all the different varieties out there. (Several of the pictures were simply labeled 'hybrid pumpkins.')
