The latest dark paranormal novel in the erotica series about shapeshifters. She's fled her alpha wolf-and the entire paranormal community of Serene. But after their work is done, will either be able to resist a passion that could consume them?
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cathryn Fox is a wife, mom, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She loves dogs, sunny weather, anything chocolate (she never says no to a brownie) pizza and red wine. Cathryn lives in beautiful Nova Scotia with her husband, who is convinced he can turn her into a mixed martial arts fan. When not writing, Cathryn can be found Skyping with her son living in Seattle (could he have moved any farther away?) shopping with her daughter in the city, watching a big action flick with her husband, or hanging out and laughing with friends.
Sunni Matthews and Ray Bartlett are two young adults in love. Since their parents don’t approve of the match, they often meet in secret to fulfill their lust. On one of these occasions, while getting dirty in a cabin in the woods, a very large dog with pewter colored eyes tracks Ray to the cabin. After the smexin’ the dog, breaks its way through the door, killing Ray but only biting Sunni.
A century later, Sunni, now a werewolf, is still mourning the loss of Ray. The alpha that changed her, Vall is a vicious and cruel leader and one that Sunni gladly watches die. She has recently escaped that clan and has started a new life in Chicago. In this present day, supernaturals have been discovered by humans, but the secret has been contained. The government has set up a covet operation, PTF or Paranormal Task Force. They are trained to hunt and kill supernaturals.
By a twist of fate, Sunni picks up the scent of Ray, and she is shocked. She believes in reincarnation, but can’t quite believe her eyes, or her nose, when she picks up the scent of Ray on a man named Kane. She starts hanging out at Risque, a club where she first smelled his scent.
Kane comes to Risque for one thing – sex – and Sunni, reveling in the idea that this is actually Ray is more than willing to give it to him. But this sex will not be so simple. Kane turns out to be on the PTF. Sunni is positive Kane and Ray are the same person and wants to make things work with him. When news of a rogue werewolf hits town, Sunni and Kane must put their presumptions behind them to move forward.
Impulsive is a quick steamy read that I enjoyed. The full title of the book is Impulsive: An Eternal Pleasure Novel so I knew going in that there would be an erotic flair, and Cathryn Fox definitely does not disappoint. First, I like the twist that supernaturals have been discovered, but not by the general population. For Sunni, she not only has to worry about being hunted by the PTF, but in her case a rogue werewolf is also hunting her. She has it coming from both sides. Since Sunni fled her pack, she is truly alone.
Kane has also sequestered himself, because he is a hunter and he fears if he keeps in close contact with is family, the wolves would harm his family to get to him. It is not a huge stretch for him to seek out and evenutally trust Sunni. Even though his brain recoils at the thought of reincarnation, his instincts don’t. Deep down he knows her, and that helps him overcome his speculations.
With a light BDSM theme, the sex scenes in this book are very hot. At times, Kane acts more like a wolf, in his ever pressing need to have sex rather than a human. I also would have liked to have more page time devoted to the villain, the rogue wolf. I kind of feel like the violence and intrigue of the rogue got left behind a bit.
Cathryn Fox is a new to me author, but I will definitely be checking her out again. Impulsive is a fast paced, steamy paranormal romance.
As the next book in a trilogy it did not disappoint. The story begins with Sunray (who helped our hero’s last book) back when she is first changed to a lycan. During this horrific change she looses her true love. You jump to present day when you learn about the hunters who are out to kill everything supernatural.
Hunter and the prey; a beautiful story of how Ray is reincarnated as a hunter hell bent on destroying everything lycan. However upon learning his true identity and what Sunray means to him his tune changes. This allows the two to work and build their love and trust while they hunt down a common enemy.

Sunray is on the run to escape her alpha-wolf and to help return her town of Serene to what it should be. She doesn't expect to find Ray/Kane her reincarnated lover . Now as things start happening she realizes that things aren't as they seem and she has to convince Kane of what is going on in order for them to work together.
This story was a fast read and i really enjoyed it.
Cathryn Fox once again manages to set the pages on fire with this sizzling continuation to her Eternal Pleasures series in Impulsive. It's hot, action-packed and bittersweet all at once. With Impulsive we head to Chicago and pick up where Instinctive left off. Sunray is looking for her "Ray", reincarnated in the form of Kane in modern day Chicago. When they finally meet, the heat is burning hot as their instant connection from the past comes to the present, and Sunray and Kane start to (re)connect and get to know each other. I really felt for Sunray in Impulsive. From Instinctive, we know Sunray is kind, loyal and compassionate. She's also terribly lonely after having lost the love of her life over a hundred years ago in a tragic event. As she reconnects with her "Ray" in the form of Kane today, Sunray has to deal with all her desires and her feelings, while protecting those she loves and keeping them a secret. She is at war with not only herself and doing what's right for her people, but also dealing with the conflict of the vast difference between herself and Kane which prevents them from being together forever. And yet, in spite of all that, there isn't a selfish bone in Sunray. She's courageous in the face of danger, selfless in her love for Kane and willing to sacrifice her own happiness in order for him to have the life she thinks he deserves. There was something very bittersweet about Sunray's love for Kane. There was so much to like about Sunray. She was a great heroine. I loved Kane too. He's strong, protective but also tender and caring. I loved the dominant streak in him as well. A little bit of kink never goes amiss! :-) My heart went out to him as I watched him struggle with his desire and attraction for Sunray while trying to be rational about her being the enemy. I loved watching him learn more about himself as his memories returned and as he got to know Sunray too. Of course, when his protective instincts kicked in, I got all gooey inside. I adore an strong, protective alpha male and Kane was all that. The action in this story was also captivating. I liked the way Ms Fox wove in the mystery of the rogue werewolf's obsession with Sunray making it part and parcel of the danger both Sunray and Kane were in, while they were working to protect innocents, tracking the rogue and reconnecting with each other. Ms Fox has a talent for storytelling which leaves the reader emotionally satisfied while providing an exciting plot to keep the heart rate going and plenty of erotic moments to keep the blood pumping. None of it is out of place ... even the car park scene made sense! :-p On to the next book in the series. :-)
When I received this book in the post and was leafing through it, I read the last scene and absolutely detested it. I really wish I'd sent the book back then, rather than thinking, 'Surely it'll be okay'. Basically, in the final scene, we learn that Kane, the hero, has been and will continue to be having sex with the other female members of his and Sunny's pack. This is expected because they are pack, and Sunny admits that this turns her on. While Kane is having sex with Sunny, they are prowling around them waiting for their turn. I have no problems with erotic romances that end up with stable threesomes (or more). However, I thought this ending was massively unromantic. It's made clear that, while Kane likes the other women, he has no romantic feelings for them. This is just sex for the sake of pack bonding (or something). Considering that all the parties are consenting, in real life I'd accept the relationship (albeit with some bafflement) and the fact that some people are far more comfortable with sharing than I'd ever be willing to be. However, as a romantic HEA, it sucks. It made it particularly hard to believe in the death-defying love which Sunny and Kane are supposed to share, that leads him to reunite with her even in his new life, despite their differences. I couldn't believe that the same man who was willing to set aside a lifetime's beliefs and hostility to the paranormal for her (and accept becoming a werewolf himself) would be the same man who has sex with a bunch of other women for the sake of pack bonding.
Anyway, I slogged through about eighty pages because I hate giving up on books. I couldn't honestly tell you whether they were any good or not, because knowing the ending overshadowed everything else for me. In the end, I realised I didn't actually want to read it, and was just going through the motions.

I loved this book until the very end. I won't say the end ruined it for me, but it definitely put a damper on how much I enjoyed the book. While I'm not saying it's wrong, it bugged me to know Kane was having sex with all the women from the brethren, not just Sunray. It just doesn't jive with my idea of the true love they profess to have for one another. Ending aside, the book was fantastic. It pulled me in and kept me hooked. I enjoyed watching Kane's feelings for Sunray go from disgust to love, distrust to belief. I loved the characters of Sunray and Kane. Both are strong individuals and I loved watching Sunray's responses to the things Kane threw her way in either uneasiness or outright hostility. The sex throughout the book was hot and steamy. Though part of a series, this book could definitely be read as a stand-alone. It is HEA with no cliffhanger. I'm super excited to read the next book in the series!
Sequel to INSTINCTIVE, this story picks up with Sunray, a female lycan who has fled the little town of Serene with Jaclyn and Slyck. Val, the alpha lycan who caused trouble in Serene, and who had tried to possess her for over one hundred years, is dead. She's finally free of him - or so she thinks. The last person she expects to find in Chicago is her reincarnated lover, who died at her feet a hundred years ago when Val killed him and changed her into a lycan. Kane is a member of the specially trained Paranormal Task Force - hunters trained to kill - and now Sunray is a target. He takes her into his "private" custody, and together they work to seek out and kill the lycan responsible for a recent flurry of Chicago deaths. The lone wolf is back to get Sunray...over Kane's dead body.
this one was really good talking about the wolves this time and it was an unbelievable ending that brought tears to my eyes way to go! got to get the next one its about the witches, so we've done panthers wolves and on to witches then Im wondering if she will come out with one about the demons too.....
I love how Cathryn has meshed a Lycan and a Hunter to be mated. I am glad they were able to come back together after all the time away from each other. It made me cry when she left to go "home" to see what damage had been done, but I love the way her mate fitted into her current world. I love these kinds of stories. I want to read more about them.

This was a sweet book especially with the flame that Sunray holds for Ray who is reincarnated but It just was too???? I don't even know, it was a fast read but I don't think I will be picking up a Fox book for a while. I wanted to like it and I enjoyed reading it, I just didn't like the end maybe that is what made me do three stars. It was a toss between three and four for me.
Pretty good book. Impulsive read easily. It took half the book for Kane (aka Ray) to trust SunRay. Once he trusted her, everything else moved quickly. I did think he recovered his memories a little too easily after all this "Who do you want, me or Ray?" The ending was really sweet though. 3-3.5/5
This was a fun paranormal romance with enough suspense to give it a zing. I really liked the ending (and the setup for the next book). Worth a read if you like shapeshifters and sexy love.
