"I had fun, but not because of the quiz show... It was because I was with you. I don't want any misunderstandings about that, dummy."

The second volume of Monkey High continued well from the first. I found the story continued to have good plots without over the top drama to keep it interesting. I appreciate that this manga is enjoyable without needing to create lots of drama to give is sustenance. The simplistic yet entertaining plot is greatly appreciated. I am enjoying this story so much!

I liked that the side characters sort of became more individualised, but I still would like more from them. I want them to get their own story soon as well.

Macharu continued to be loyal to Haruna when she really needed it. I like that their relationship is now being tested in a realistic way with realistic reactions from the two. I feel so happy whenever I think about the two of them and I really like that they feel real. There's some depth to that aspect. And I loved that insight was provided slowly into Haruna's life and more clues into her past. I love that it's keeping me interested to know more! Although I find her father kind of a bit hard to believe sometimes. I hope more is given into his character as the story progresses.

The romance was also just as great as in the first volume. "I hate it when you cry and I don't know about it. So that makes your problem my problem. That's why I can't leave you alone." Macharu is so loveable, and I love how well he and Haruna fit together. I love these types of romance stories where the characters not only have chemistry but depth to their relationship. Their personalities are the opposite but she needs someone like him in her life and he too needs someone like her. It's so sweet and very well thought out. I am rooting for this couple right until the end!

I found the art continued to be nice. There were some great two page spreads with shading that added to the atmosphere. Haruna looked so beautiful in some scenes.

I can't wait to keep reading about this monkey mountain!

"It's my very own loveable monkey mountain... And... My baby monkey."

I thought this book was a bit boring, but I guess maybe that was because I read it around 2am, and I was sleepy....
Well yeah, i finished it this morning and it got better. Macharu is so cute! I really have no idea how he and Haruna are dating. Shes just... bitchy half the time.
Seriously, if you go to an amusement park with your boyfriend, you better be ready to get on some damn rides, not just stand there and say "I can't go on spinning ones or ones that fall."

Then why the hell did you go in the first place?

Refreshing, sweet series. I love that it's a privileged girl going to a regular high school. (So many manga have a lower class girl swept up in the world of the wealthy.) She is handling the change well and discovering the joys of friendship.

This was a great volume and I love how fun and interesting all the characters are. The Bonus chapter about Macharu's little sister was really cute.

Contains Chapters: 4 & 5
Chapter 4.) A First Date is Less Scary than a Haunted House
Chapter 5.) The Most Important Question Can't be Answered in a Quiz

I absolutely loved this volume! Finally, we get the fun date at an amusement park trope that is extremely popular in romance manga. Haruna and Macharu are aware of each other and they focus on having as much fun as possible.

The drama with Haruna hiding her feelings from Macharu when it comes from her father is so real. It's not that Haruna doesn't trust Macharu, she needs to unpack her feelings about her father by herself. But Macharu, stepping up to let her know he doesn't like knowing that she's crying alone, is squeal worthy.

I also enjoyed the short story at the end of the this volume with Macharu's sister and her crush on Atsu, Macharu's best friend. It's nice to see more into Macharu's family and to enjoy a sweet Middle Grade crush story.

Monkey High is a wonderful school romance, and if you can get ahold of the physical copies or the digital copies, I believe it's worth it for people that enjoy school romances.

One thing I liked the most about this volume was Haruna learning to cope with issues with her father, with him being absentee and all. Another thing I liked was that this volume had the first real actual introduction of her classmates and friends. We finally got their names, and their personalities were able to shine through with the quiz show storyline. It's nice to see Haruna fitting in a bit more, she has more friends and even though the two, Haruna and Machura had their first fight, they made up fairly quickly. Haruna sees that she pushes him away and hopefully, she'll learn to be better at handling her emotions. She is only fifteen years old after all.

I'm still on the fence about reading shojo manga with high schoolers as the main characters because I am in my mid-20s and I feel old...reading such trivial plots but this series is one that even though the characters are really young, it is still entertaining and wholesome enough to enjoy !

Macharu and Haruna go on a date to the amusement park. Haruna doesn't do too well on the roller coaster so they stop for a break. Macharu goes off to grab her a drink and comes back to find a bunch of older boys hitting on her. Trying to be a good guy/boyfriend he steps in...and then keeping with the monkey theme an amusement park worker dressed as a monkey steps in and turns out to be a classmate....and then there are more classmates.

It was okay. I actually found it a little boring, but I just think it's because the amusement park thing and boys hitting on the FMC is a standard manga trope nowadays so it has to be done really well. This one was okay but not mind blowing.

Another good and relaxing volume. In the meantime, I found out I had bought the first two volumes back in November 2013 and completely forgotten about them. I have too many manga...

I like this series because the author got to write very long chapters. Here, for instance, the class takes part to a game show hoping to win some money to repair a vase they had broken.

And there's a bonus story about Macharu's sister and the end of the book.

Notes: the story is cute but it's rushed for no reason. In the first volume they were already a couple and they didn't have that much "screen time". Haruna's relationships seem very forced, and she's very boring. If the manga was a bit longer maybe it'd be better, but as it is the story lacks development by a lot.

If people don’t stop making digs at Macharu, i swear…. Must be annoying to have everyone point out that YOUR GF (WHO BECAME YOUR GF WILLINGLY I MIGHT ADD) deserves “better”… Oh this running joke needs to stop! I freakin love Macharu. He’s so sweet!!!! Haruna is so guarded. I can’t wait to see him help her break down those walls…

Sometimes you just got to enjoy a monkey mountain for all it's worth.
The plot is simple, but it's so cute T>T
That scandal was revealed! What a doozy :O
What I would give if more YA boys were like Macharu! Sweet, kind, and adorable!

After picking up the first book in this manga series and really loving the lighthearted, sweet fun read that it was I picked up the second volume. I just couldn't wait. Because they're adorable.

Haruna Aizawa and Masaru (or as everyone calls him, Macharu) are back and trying to figure out exactly what they feel about each other. In slightly typical awkward high school fashion, follow these two on their first date and through some hard times for Haruna. Her dad is out of prison after a political scandal that forced her to change schools. Which is what put her and Macharu together in the first place!

This volume is just so sweet and I love both and all the characters. Macharu is cute, kind, and funny. Haruna very relate-able and nice. I really liked it and would recommend to teen girls who want something cute and fun.

This was amazingly good~ I love how the buildup between the two characters is taken at a slower pace but also really unique compared to the typical high school stories.

Haruna really is going through a difficult time yet Macharu is so unexpectedly uplifting it really helps her. I think what captures you about Macharu is his heart! The conflict in the story is evolving from events very naturally and is about the character themselves and not about what another person gets to experience but what they didn't get to experience.

I also loved the bonus story, it really highlighted to me how much I enjoy the way this mangaka thinks!

BOTTOM LINE: "I hate it when you cry and I don't know about it."

Love this series it is so cute. In this volume Haruna and Macharu try to go on a date. First they head to the amusement part where things don't go as planned. For some reason all of their friends end up showing up. Then in another part the whole gang signs up to play in a game that is on TV to win a prize. The game is kinda crazy with the questions they ask and the things they have to do. I really enjoy this series and the friends it makes me laugh.

It was a cute book. I did like the way she was a privaledged girl going to a public school. Usually Manga's have poor girls being brought into wealth so it was a nice change. I* do like how there is some seriousness in the book while still keeping it light and fun. I can't wait to read the next one!

Another great installment to this hilarious series! Things get more "in depth" in terms of the romances and stuff like that, and the volume kinda slows down for a while, which was the only nick in my rating. Other than that, I love this series so much so far, and the characters are so loveable, even the really annoying ones... okay maybe not ALL of the annoying ones, Lol.

Well I definitley wanna read the next novel. I wanna see how it plays out with Haruna and her dad.

It was nice to see the two going on a date. It made me feel a little better especially since my first date was awkward as well.
