"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose which functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bio-engineered monsters it unleashes upon us almost by instinct. WE have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if it is aware of us at all it mus know us only as Prey."
Inquisitor Czevak at the Conclave of Har from The Har Transcriptorium
While the proceeding Tyranid Codices offered many more additional unit options, such as the much anticipated Genestealer Broodlord, this codex wasn't too bad for its time. The option of creating your own Hive Fleet by mutating some of the units to form your own unique unit types was pretty cool. I still remember my first battle against an army from this codex- it was 1,500-points against a Tyranid army including Old One Eye. Old One Eye didn't survive a hail of Splinter Cannon fire from a unit of Deep Striking Dark Eldar Scourges.
