I loved the twists and turns in SHADOWS by Renee Marksi. Carson is a construction worker whose parents have died, leaving him as the only family his sister Kay has left. When his girlfriend Ophelia is killed and his truck is found at the scene, detectives turn to him as a possible suspect. But soon it becomes clear he is actually the only witness to Ophelia’s last moments as she was dating two men at the time and he believes the other person is responsible for her death. I read this spooky thriller in one sitting (after dark!) and the suspense and tension are real as Carson talks to people who might know something and tracks down clues… and then one by one they start to turn up dead. One person Carson talks to is Lisa, a local bartender who might have witnessed something. But soon things become complicated between them and as Carson learns more about Lisa’s past, he wonders if she’s been entirely forthcoming with him. I loved how the novel slowly revealed clues and had Carson and the police department working in parallel. Really good pacing and some great twists at the end! 5/5 stars.

A fun read, and Marski keeps us guessing with a plot twist here, a surprise there, another dead body over there.

I feel the need to preface this by saying that a chic dating 2 dudes simultaneously, making sure they knew about each other, sounds crazy to me. What happened to just being an old fashioned cheater? Lol!
So when the times comes that chic wants to choose, well things don't work out in her favor.
So you have other dude in his truck watching the murder through a window. Too drunk to know what he was seeing .
Next thing you know, he's a suspect.
I did see the twist ending coming, but that v didn't take away from enjoying this read

In Shadows, Carson loses the love of his life, and the death toll keeps rising as he tries to solve her murder. How many more will die before the killer is found? Will his sister be one of them? Though there were a couple things I puzzled over, overall I found Shadows to be an intriguing mystery and the building tension kept the pages turning to a satisfying conclusion.

I found this a solid read. :) A quick one but enjoyable.
