In Exercise for Better Bones, CYQ Master Personal Trainer Baz Thompson offers exercises to improve your balance, flexibility, posture, strength, and cardiovascular fitness. He also provides a sample 4-week program to show you how to combine these exercises into an optimal fitness plan. The program requires approximately 30 to 40 minutes of exercise 5 days a week (including warm up and cool down). Most of the exercises require no special equipment, though some of them will require a sturdy chair, a few use light hand weights, and a yoga mat is helpful for some.
The initial chapters explain the structure and function of the feet and how foot health affects the rest of the body. I found those chapters interesting and.
Each exercise includes written directions, illustrations, cautions, benefits, and suggestions for how to progress. I liked the diversity and organization of the exercises and found them easy to understand. Many of them are exercises my physical therapist taught me for osteoporosis, but a few were new to me. If you have any special health concerns, you might want to see a physical therapist before starting this program, but I like having this book to refer to since I’m not very good at maintaining an exercise program on my own.
The author provided me with an ARC through Booksprout that I volunteered to review.
Easy to read guide to exercise to improve your health! Easy format to follow for exercising to improve different aspects of your health from strength, cardio, flexibility, posture and balance. The author also provides a sample plan to integrate these exercises in to your everyday life!
