A second life in another world with cute girls by your side and video gamey powers --sounds like a dream, right? Not so for a certain melancholy author, who would quite literally rather drop dead. Honestly, all the fantastical adventure is just getting in the way of his poetic dream of finding the perfect place to die. But no matter how much he risks his hide, everything seems to keep turning out okay. Will our terminally depressed hero find a new lease on life in this cheerfully bleak isekai comedy?
Our hero is part of a double suicide pact that ends up with him being transported to a world where he's expected to be a hero by the babes he attracts and the video game expectations he seems to be living amongst. But..he was no will to live and wants to finish off the job. Absolutely bizarre/very funny.
This manga was absolutely HILARIOUS. I'm a big fan of Osamu Dazai as a fictional character (shout-out to Bungou Stray Dogs as well) and this manga was PERFECT for that. I adored the fact that Dazai was supposed to be this big bad hero in a new fantasy world... and he just doesn't want it. I understood why all the female characters were head over heels about him, he is a wonderfully intuitive character while also being his suicidal maniac self. The art was beautiful and Dazai's facial expressions throughout this volume were so funny to me. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series. Genuinely, if you are looking for a manga that's funny, beautiful, and morally interesting, I highly recommend this one.
Dommage
I really enjoyed this . Tbh I don't understand why it has a 17+ rating on it I would give it 13+ there is one page with something that a lil sexual (a girl gets wrapped up by a tree ) Just a comedy bout a guy trying to off him self.
The dark humor in this one had me rolling!! This volume took me by surprise! I really enjoyed it and I didn’t expect to. I am invested in the characters and can’t wait for volume 2!
As someone that typically doesn’t vibe with isekai stories, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I laughed and enjoyed this manga. I highly recommend this series and I will definitely be reading volume 2 when it comes out. However, if you don’t enjoy dark comedy or depictions of suicide attempts I would steer clear of this manga.
This manga is about an author that wakes up in another world after a suicide attempt, and instead of enjoying his new life in this new magical world he opts to just continue making suicide attempts and somehow continuously fails miserably. This manga is pretty dark (the mc literally walks around eating sleeping pills like candy, drinking poison, and asking monsters to kill him). However, if you enjoy really dark humor it’s incredibly hilarious!
So the idea of this is great but the execution gives me the ick on such extreme levels I wanted to throw my tablet and puke.💀
Osamu Dazai is one of my favorite characters from Bungo Stray Dogs so learning there exists another Osamu Dazai (besides the real life dead author rip), was interesting to see.
In here he tries to double suicide but then ends up in some fantasy game world where they are telling him he has to go on some mission but bro just wants to go find a good place to kill himself.😭 He then decides to try to find the woman he was trying to die with so they can double suicide but then ends up traveling with a couple of cute girls and fights things only to keep making it out alive.
I love this interpretation of this character. He got that depressed rizz going on like why is he hot though.💀
But then it's just extremely stupid and fanservice city because he doesn't even really do anything but these scantily clad powerful girls are falling over themselves in love with him ??? He's not interested in them or anything else going on- he literally just wants to die. It's literally a harem for no reason and that is the weirdest shit I've read and I hate it.
Manga / anime for sure gives me the ick with this shit too because why is it always the men get to look like grown adults, actual people but the women are always really small with big ass chests, barely covered in their shitty overly sexualized clothing while being all chibi and essentially just looking like children? The girls just going off about how in love they are with him and how he "changed their fate" when they literally met 3 days ago and he barely said anything to them.
It's very concerning to me how this is the fanservice the creepy weirdo fans be wanting and I think we should call the fbi and put everyone on watch lists because what is this childlike girl doing for you.🤨 Why do we need SO MANY in here.😭😭 Why must they all be dressed so shitty and in love with this man !!!
Being transferred to another world where you can interact with mystical creatures and go on quests with cute companions for acclaim and fame? Most people would be thrilled.
But, a certain gloomy author is quite unenthused to say the least.
When he awakens in this other world after an attempted double-suicide with his lover, all he’s concerned about is finding a way to finish the job. He’d rather drop dead than be some hero.
Unfortunately, it seems this reluctant grouse is actually quite difficult to kill—no matter how hard he tries. Every attempt on his life somehow assists him in progressing on his hero’s journey—much to his displeasure.
When he discovers that his lover may have also been transported to this world, it dies inspire in him a desire to continue on—so that they may meet again and complete their perfect demise.
But, along the way, will this melancholy hero find a new lease on life?
So, this is f*cking hysterical~
When I say I never thought I’d find a single isekai worth reading, I definitely wasn’t accounting for this one.
A bleak isekai comedy?
None of those words should make sense together—and yet….
This is such a unique approach to the genre that I think could be very compelling for the right reader. Especially for readers who have been jaded by the genre in the past, this series not only brings attention to a lot of problematic tropes but also emphasizes the inherent comedy of them.
Plus, the art is really cool. I really appreciate the character designs in this one.
Definitely recommend for older readers looking for an edgy satire series that has sone cool action sequences paired with comedic, delightfully meta dialogue throughout~
The Isekai creators are clearly running out of ways to make their series stand out, because this guy has the Isekai superpower of... clinical depression?
Seriously, this guy made a double-suicide pact with a girl, and just as they decided to die, they got hit by the Isekai truck (no joke, they called it the Isekai Lottery Truck), and Guy was whisked away to a bright new shiny fantasy world where he would get to play hero and find happiness*...
...only to try to kill himself once he gets there, because he thought he WAS finding happiness in getting his desired ending.
Oh also apparently his "skills" include perpetually being poisoned (from constantly snacking on a huge bottle of sleeping pills that came with him), so a tree monster that sucks life energy out of its victims tried to snack on him... and got poisoned. (Also somehow he keeps trying to die but fails, though the one thing keeping him in that world is the hope Sacchan is also there.)
*This is actually the best explanation I've seen for why it's ALWAYS (with little exception) a fantasy world, that fantasy is an easier setting for success because everything is free if you have the abilities I GUESS (at least, you can hunt/forage for food and kill things rather than slave away at a shit desk job... I GUESS), so it's sort of a half-assed New Game+ Mode.
I don't know. Still kind of done with "high fantasy" unless it's VERY different. (Sure, this is different, but uh... haha. We'll see how it goes.)
I don't like that the MC is supposed to be Osamu Dazai, a famous Japanese author, who actually died in a double suicide. Poor taste.
The series diverts from the usual isekai formula, thank goodness! The MC is not interested in any woman romantically, other than the woman he died with. There's no real focus on a harem and the only character who consistently thirsts for him is the priestess.
The MC was blessed by the spirit of the World Tree with infinite sleeping pills and had a dwarven blacksmith cook up what's essentially a coffin with an engine. His severe depression constantly has his HP at 1, until he is revitalized by the prospect of a good idea for his writing. Anyone who tries to damage him regrets trying, as they are instantly poisoned by the malaise he carries within.
The MC is on a journey to reunite with his partner-in-death to die all over again. On the way, he is constantly trying to commit suicide and often jumps in the middle of a fight for a chance at death. He inadvertently helps corrupted and lost otherworlders work out their own issues and then sends them back to Earth with a new lease on life. I wonder who will end up saving the MC, if anyone at all...
I really do enjoy this series and would recommend you check it out. I love the concept of a 'doomed' character who, despite their own pain, tries to help others.
If you are like me, the idea of Osamu Dazai in another world with an elf priestess and a catgirl sounds so ridiculous that it sounds unreadable. Like me, you would be wrong. ‘No Longer Allowed…’ is the story of Osamu Dazai (referred to simply as ‘Sensei’) traveling another world after being struck by Truck-kun moments before before he was to shake off his mortal coil. What keeps the story from being a throwaway isekai is that, we the reader, are thrown into a pathos driven narrative about a man ridding a world of preceding Otherworlders, the random humans driven to corruption by their unchecked, stereotypical enhancements everyone is given upon entering a isekai world. As a writer, Sensei records these tales and allows us to explore the pain and hurt that plagues the citizens and those that led to the Otherworlders themselves.
Vol 1. of this series was a fast-paced manga where we are quickly introduced to Sensei and the establishment of his traveling party- often with cruder humor revolving about self-harm and the determination of Sensei to end his life. What is the true power lurking behind Sensei? What is store of Sensei, Tama & Annette on their journey? Will Sensei be able to reunite with Sacchan? Begin and discover!

A potem postanawia odnaleźć ukochaną i poprawić nieudaną próbę samobójczą.
I really wanted to like this Anti-Isekai story. Especially within a oversaturated Isekai power fantasy market. But one of its' main selling points is humor. However, when you watch tons of comedy specials, it is hard to laugh at jokes from other mediums. Because you realize how unfunny they are. Maybe a legit stand-up comic could make this work in a comedy special, but not as a Manga. Or maybe the Mangaka needed to go to several live stand up shows, like "Kill Tony," bomb several times before finally finding that grove. THEN, they could make "No Longer Allowed In Another World."
It is moments like these, where I wish Isekai Killer (aka The Killer of the Reincarnated: Cheat Slayer) didn't get cancelled, because it would have been a better overall Anti-Isekai or Isekai Sattire. But it didn't focus on humor. It more focused on plot, character, action, and criticizing Isekais. With focusing on humor, if you drop the ball and people don't laugh at it, the story just has a big tomato on it. Humor should always be on the back end when it comes to narratives for the manga medium.
However NLAIAW wasn't bad, hence why I gave it a 3 out of 5.
Warning: the premise of this series is having a laugh at the popular isekai (swept-to-another-world) genre of fantasy (so it's not a serious fantasy, if that's what you're looking for); also, the main joke of the story is the hero's suicidal ideation and constant quest to die in a poetic way, which may not sit well with many readers.
For readers who enjoy a bit of dark humour and stories that don't take themselves seriously. It somehow doesn't come off as complete silliness, though, as the hero's quest to die (despite other characters who DO take the story seriously) somehow ends up helping the people he encounters.
Content concerns: suicidal thoughts, including the character viewing suicide as a beautiful ideal; no sex so far, but some suggestive imagery (fanservice-y female characters in clingy low-cut micro-miniskirt outfits getting suggestively grabbed by vine/tentacle monsters); delusional unhealthy infatuation (played as a joke, but might be triggering for some readers); no heavy or habitual swearing
Pewnej nocy pisarz przybywa nad akwedukt Tamagawa, by wraz z ukochaną zakończyć swoje przepełnione udręką życia. I zapewne dopięli by swego gdyby nie tamta furgonetka...
Wow! Talk about being taken by surprise, this manga had me laughing out loud from beginning to end. I’m not the biggest fan of droll protagonists, but Sensei’s actions with any female he encounters bring some kind of positivity. In the meantime, he just wants to die. Does this concept work? It shouldn’t, but with fantastic artwork, great character designs and the beginning of a good amount of world building this manga series looks to be a hoot and I’m looking forward to reading each new volume.
I devoured this manga. It's been a minute since I have been into a manga series right off the bat, to be honest it was such a refreshing yet familiar feeling that brought me back to middle reading manga in class.
That's how much I enjoyed this. Lately I have fallen in love with " satirical deconstructionist heroes" like One Punch Man, and Sensai another one that has stolen my art. He really takes the piss on the entire genre of being transported to another world trope. I'm so excited to see where this story goes!
I’d heard a lot about this series, and it truly lived up to the hype! The characters aren’t the most complex or deeply written out there, but they perfectly fulfill their narrative roles — and in a parody comedy like this, that’s exactly what you want. None of them ever feel annoying or out of place, and whenever a cliché pops up, it’s only to be turned upside down in the most brilliant way! I couldn’t stop smiling while reading, and that little plot twist at the end left me eager to pick up the next volume.
