Lin struggles to raise his kid brother on a writer's fluctuating income and once more is overwhelmed with unpaid bills. Just when he thinks he's out of options, that is when he gets a mysterious note offering him money for a little of his time. Despite knowing the guy will probably be a stalker pervert who thinks he's the woman shown on the back of his books, he still goes to the midnight meeting. What he finds is a ridiculously sexy demon asking for his blood in exchange for enough cash to fix Lin's lacking finances. Lin's just not sure how much of himself he can give up for the money. His blood? His body? His heart? The decision could change his life forever.
L. Shannon, the author, came into existence in June of 2004. Shannon’s always been a reader and lover of books, but never considered writing until one night when she ran out of books to read… She began writing that very night as the first line of defense in a battle against insomnia. Her writing has steadily grown into a full-out war against reality. Her friends kindly say reality never stood a chance.
The L. Shannon novels have expanded to fill an entire world with paranormal wonders including Valàfrn werewolves, Tascryn demons, blood-sucking vampires, sexy selkies and many, many more. Be careful if you choose to enter Shannon’s hunk-filled world. You may never wish to leave…
In the time Shannon doesn’t spend writing, she’s kept busy by bothering her super supportive husband, showing dogs, gardening and watching over her Butterfly Koi ponds. You can learn more about her writing and her life at www.lshannon.net.
It looks like this is the beginning to a new series and it has me intrigued. Granted there isn't a whole lot here but there is just enough to have me wanting more.
● Paranormal ● Fast easy read ● Vampire type demon/erotic romance author pairing ● An agreement for aide turns to more ● Sexual awakening ● A lot of sex for such a short story ● I did feel a connection between these two ● More than likeable MCs... Wysh & Lin ● A satisfactory HFN ● Short, under 50 pages ● Would really like more
A lovely, sexy demon story, the worst thing about it is that it's finished, I want more of these two gorgeous characters! I'm not usually into demon stories but I came across this and figured a short story was a good start, I think I've found a new genre to read. This story is mysterious, sexy as heck, and very touching, a great read that was over way too soon.
Usually these little erotic books are full of profanity and grammatical errors, but this author had me actually want to go on reading. The plot moved smoothly and at the end I wanted to know what came next, if anything. Not my usual kind of book, but a good read.
This was a story that I wish, no pun intended, had been longer. I liked the characters, even though I just got a quick glimpse of them. It definitely has great potential to be expanded into a full length story, one that I would love to read.
This is the first in a series, although after reading it, I’m not exactly sure where it’s going next. Lindsey is an erotic romance writer (m/f) whose publisher insists he pretend to be a woman to keep his audience. He is raising his nine year old brother and falling behind in the bills. He gets a mysterious note with a hundred dollar bill asking him to meet in an isolated location, and he’ll be given ten times that. Despite his paranoia that someone is going to abduct or rape him, he needs the money, so goes.
Both he and the note writer are in for a surprise. The note writer believes Lindsey is a woman (he’s also small in stature and rather feminine looking), and it seems the man who wrote is a demon who needs blood to survive and maintain his human facade. To be honest, the demon’s not that fussy, man or woman will do, and he chose Lindsey because he wrote a vampire book once, so believes he’ll be sympathetic to his plight. Although Lindsey appears to be straight, after hearing Wysh’s story, he agrees, however it’s freaking hot and during the feeding he is able to see into the demons past and emotions are exchanged. While he thought it was a one-time thing, he finds himself missing Wysh and goes in search of him. Seems Wysh is an underwear model, yes, seriously, and Lindsey has his first experience with gay sex in a dressing room and takes to it like a champ.
That’s pretty much the story. You never find out why Wysh is now and underwear model and no longer a vampire hunter. Maybe that’s coming next? Lindsey seemed pretty open to being with a guy, for being straight. There were some cute parts, and the sex was hot in the dressing room, but it just kind of was meeting, agreeing to be his regular food source, get sexy, the end.
My biggest annoyance was Lindsey’s constant comparison of himself to a girl, and his disdain for acting like a woman, or for seeming to come across as feminine in his emotions or thoughts. There was a constant barrage of put-downs, checking to see if he still had his balls, and other references to a fear he was losing his masculinity because he was feeling romantic. That got a bit tiring, I get it, you think girls are weak and flowery and pink, and you’re not.
Since it says Book 1, I assume there is more to come. Will I continue with the series? Maybe? I’m rather curious, but I’m a bit wary of series these days, so we’ll see. I didn’t dislike it, the writing is fine, I just wasn’t quite sure where it was all heading. Perhaps if it had been a stand-alone it would have worked. We shall see.
Apparently this is the first in a series although it’s a rather short story and for a first installment in a paranormal series it miraculously lacks any kind of world building.
We meet erotic romance author Lindsey, a straight guy who writes m/f romance. His publisher advises him to present himself as a female rather than a male author. He’s struggling for money, raising his younger brother and endlessly waiting for his royalties while the bills keep piling up. When he receives an invitation to meet a stranger with the promise of good money, he reluctantly goes to the meeting. It turns out the stranger is Wysh, a blood demon, who wants to pay him for blood. The lure of money and Wysh’s sincerity make Lindsey give in. The blood sucking turns out to be quite erotic for them.
Here’s where I started to frown a bit. First, Lindsey hardly blinks an eye when he hears about Wysh being a blood demon. Second, Lindsey is straight and yet he easily gives in to the sexual events with the male demon without questioning his feelings much. Third, Wysh assumed that Lindsey’s female and when he turns out to be male nothing really happens.
After their first meeting two weeks pass and then Lindsey starts to miss the demon and seeks him out, again without questioning his gay feelings. He ends up at a photo shoot where Wysh is modeling underwear – instead of hunting vampires, like he said his kind does – and again they end up having sex. Rather hot sex, I must say. Lindsey loses his ‘gay’ virginity here. There’s a really tiny misunderstanding with some hurt feelings on both sides before they make up while being still on the same set.
And that’s it, the story abruptly ends there. We don’t know much more about Wysh’s background, from which world he comes, how he ended up modeling underwear, nothing. The ending is a thin Happy For Now ending at the most. And to be honest, I’m not enough invested yet in these guys to be interested in the next installment of the series, to see if they find their HEA. Nor isn’t there an interesting world revealed that I want to learn more about. I’m left a bit puzzled after finishing this story. It’s certainly not badly written, but it’s simply too short and ‘unfinished’ to give me the fulfillment I seek in a romance story. Too bad, because it certainly did have potential.
This story is an interesting variation on the demon/vampire theme, with what looks like a new 'world' to explore in the upcoming series. While there are some similarities between blood demons and vampires, there is a slightly different angle to what makes these demons tick. It made me want to find out more.
Lindsey is a writer who needs more money than his royalties can provide. He is pretty much ready to do anything to solve his financial issues, even though he tells himself there are limits. He takes the shock of finding a blood demon willing to pay for his 'services' surprisingly well. Very quickly he ends up clearly attracted to Scott, and the two are very hot together once Lin lets go of his preconceived ideas.
Scott is a bit of a mystery, but he is clearly intent on more than a blood donation arrangement with Lindsey. His emotional weakness where Lindsey is concerned is also quite clear and akes him more vulnerable, less of a threat.
If you like parnaormal stories, vampires and demons, and if understated romance and hot sex is your thing, you might like this story.

Kind of strange short story, about a demon shifter who lives in human world. He ask Lindsey, a guy who wrote an romance vampire romance book, for a favor. The story is la la, unrealistic and to short.
Sets up the Wysh series very well. I liked Lindsey and Wysh. Great sex! I would have liked more detail which I hope comes in the next book in the series. I have a lot of questions.
