Heather M Lewis was born in Illinois and raised in South Carolina. Her childhood was spent reading, daydreaming, and writing short stories. After earning a BA in History and a Masters in Library Information Science, she began to pursue creative writing. Only after working in various positions (shipping technician, quality assurance, etc.,), did she publish her first novella 'Recalling Theodora'.
When not reading or writing, she's exploring Charleston and the surrounding areas, cross stitching, baking, or trying to decide what to watch on the television.
Wherever They Go by Heather M. Lewis is a deep and touching story that stays with you after the last page. The way the author builds her world feels real and full of quiet emotion. Each scene pulls you in as if you are standing in the room with the characters. The story moves through moments of loss and hope in a way that feels true to life. The writing is clear and strong and it paints a picture that is both simple and full of feeling. You can tell that every word was chosen with care and that the author wanted to make you feel something real.
I gave this book four stars because even though it was very moving and well told some parts went on a bit longer than needed. A few scenes could have used a little more action or change in pace. Still the heart of the story is powerful and the characters are easy to care about. This book makes you stop and think about how people deal with love and pain and what it means to move forward. I would tell anyone who enjoys thoughtful stories with real emotion to pick this one up and take their time with it.
This wasn't a bad story, but it also kind of felt like nothing. It felt like we might have been building up to something, but that never came, and the end was, I'm not sure if cliffhanger is the right word or not. It just kind of ended, but there wasn't a resolution. It feels like every character we got to know a little, was just left at a point in their story.
I just think this book wasn't for me. Others obviously loved it, but I wasn't left with the same good feeling. It was an easy, quick read, the characters were mostly believable, but there were points that took me out - it's supposed to be over 40 years ago but one of her neighbors walked out of his apartment and to his car while on his phone?
Fast paced with likeable characters, but .....spoiler alert....it leaves you wanting more. I would classify this book as a cliff hanger & while I generally don't like those, I would still recommend this book to others. Though I really want to know, what is going to happen??
Great read. Running away from your problems isn’t always the solution. There are many interesting characters in this book, especially Alma . You really get caught up in the story and the abrupt ending leaves you wanting more to the story. Thank you Goodreads.
Excellent book! I loved the characters and writing style. It was a nice easy will and paced read. The characters were very developed and believable. They were all like people you could meet every day. The book started out well but also got better as I read on. I will look forward to reading more Heather M Lewis books in the future. Thank you so much for my free copy of the book through Goodreads.
