Selena Hailturn is a regular 7th grader who misses her parents as they are busy and don’t spend much time with her.
On the day before her thirteenth birthday, her mom surprises her by being at home to spend time with her. While Selena is happy with the gift she has got, she also can’t stop wondering about what she ‘read’ about her mother. What did it mean? And what did it mean when she ‘read’ about others in her school?
It isn’t until she makes friends with her arch-nemesis, Carina, that Selena finally discovers the true meaning behind her readings, where she comes from and how she might be the answer to a terrible past which she must correct by running away…

This was an amazing read. The characters are well developed and have a strong voice. The plot has a mix of mystery and adventure which keeps you gripped! Like any good book, this book made me feel like I was living in the fantasy world created by the author! It also managed to transport me back to middle school and got me reminiscing about that time. It's equal parts relatable and equal parts thrilling. Would recommend for all ages!

A great fantasy concept. People with two different powers. A hidden villain. The story is molten hot. Fighting the person you love!! Everything is not black and white. One does indeed have superpower if one can slap a teacher😀. I loved the fast pace, the battle of wits, foes turning friend and fighting a powerful evil fiend but again we have a twist. A very engaging fantasy by Namya.

At the ripe old age of 11, Namya has managed to accomplish what many adults struggle to. She has created a novella with a reimagined world, deep characters and some really innovative yet fun fantasy elements.

Brilliant articulation by a pre-teen. Just mind blowing on how such a young author can weave such magic with words.

Highly recommended for all pre-teens and teenagers. I just loved the way Namya was able to hold the attention and create some really fast-paced sequences.
