When Jeremiah Wiley advertises for a mail-order bride, he doesn't expect for the woman who answers to be someone he already knows--much less a good friend.
Deirdre Hannan knows Jeremiah is the man for her. But the only way she can seem to convince him is to marry him.
Will Jeremiah give in to his true feelings, or will Deirdre's love go unrequited?
This was an OK mail-order bride romance, with likable characters, but it needed more character development. I needed more backstory on both Jeremiah and Dierdre. It gets 3 stars from me.
Jeremiah and Dierdre were both likable, but I wished they hadn't been so afraid to tell each other that they wanted to be more than friends -- they both thought it would ruin their friendship, and were too afraid to take the risk. I was glad when they finally told each other how they felt.
I wasn't a big fan of Dierdre's deception in writing to Jeremiah under a different name. It worked out okay in the long run, but it was a risky move, and could have destroyed their relationship.
I would have enjoyed it more if more backstory had been included on both Jeremiah and Dierdre.
This is a clean romance, with nothing but kisses. If you only want to read romances that do not include sex scenes, this one might work for you.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
☀️☀️ONE EXCITING THRILL RIDE☀️☀️ Vicious vipers val! Cat serves up one incredibly tumultuous, heartbreakingly beguiling, skillfully enthralling, fascinatingly tantalizing, sinfully delightful, rock-my-world tempest. Jumping hoops and clearing hurdles, bringing the heat and kicking down walls, propelling this baby to staggering heights. Shenanigans and mishaps run rampant, exhibiting pelted perimeters and crumbling boundaries converge as limitations are amplified and tested, cognizant of riveting drama, gripping intrigue, calculated events, electrifying suspense and intense situations ensue. The characters banter, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, adding depth and diversity, transforming into outstanding personalities. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels as though you're part of the story instead of on the sidelines, feeling everything the characters feel. Amazing job Cat, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.
Deirdre, a strong and determined young woman has been in love with Jeremiah for awhile, but both consider each other as just a friend. Jeremiah needs to marry--and quickly--to impress his parents to lend money for joint partnership in a business. He has feelings for Deirdre but doesn't want to ruin their friendship by taking his feelings further. He places an advertisement for a mail order bride. Deirdre and her best friend Clara devise a plan so that Deirdre can apply as Jeremiah's bride; but will he reject the offer, or is he desperate enough to marry her? And, if so, does he really love her enough to remain married? Another exciting Crest Stone Mail-Order adventure with bad guys, a kidnapping, and so much more! I highly recommend this clean romance. I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review .
• This western romance had some action which added another dimension to this book.
• I liked Deidre's determination to have Jeremiah notice her.
• The pacing of this story was very good. It was neither too fast nor too slow and it had a smooth, coherent flow. I liked the writing style of this author.
• This story was a clean read and I appreciated that.
I was given a free copy of this book by the author. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I'm looking forward to reading more books by Cat Cahill.
This is a sweet and heartwarming MOB story with a twist. It is action packed and includes some humor, sassiness and stubbornness on the heroine's part, trickery, evil men, and romance. This is Jeremiah and Deirdre's story, and the character development is outstanding. This is a story that will keep you turning the pages to see what is going to happen next. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
A fun read! I love the characters, especially Deirdre. Deirdre's spunk and her go after what you want had me cheering her on. Throw in some romance, bad guys, and a little action and you have an entertaining read. Love the plot, an enjoyable story that will have you not wanting to put the book down. Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
I love this twist on the mail order bride, the already here bride. As innocent as the young ladies of this era were, I think the men were just as innocent or perhaps the word is clueless. Other than propositioning him, I’m not sure Deirdre could have been more obvious. What young lady wants to hang out in the livery stable? This books gives me what I expect from a Cat Cahill book, romance, humor, well-developed characters that you want to meet again, a touch of danger and a few surprises and twists.
Another clean romance that will hold your interest. This is a cute story where Deirdre answers her friend Jeremiah’s mail order bride advertisement withholding her identity. Theirs is a gentle coming to terms with their real feelings. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
So glad to finally have a HEA for Jeremiah! I liked the uniqueness of his “mail-order” bride and how it played out. Shows again the goodness and happiness might be much closer than we think. Now, we just need a story for Liam. I can just imagine a bit of redemption and return of self-respect in his story.
Dierdre and Jeremiah are very attracted to each other but too afraid of letting the other know the truth. How can she get things rolling without being too forward. Dierdre comes up with a plan to be his mailorder bride. Will it work? After her brother put s their lives in danger, Jeremiah realizes how much Dierdre means to him. Good book, easy read.
I enjoyed the book! Deirdre had loved Jeremiah since she first met him. She married him but he insisted it was a marriage of convenience. There is excitement near the end of the book. I recommend reading this book!
I am thoroughly enjoying my visits to Crest Stone. The characters have kept me riveted to my seat until the last word through all five books. Can't wait to get the next book in the series!
I was drawan into this book pretty early on. There are some definite surprises and some unexpected twists that really helped keep my interest. I thought the author did a nice job telling this story and keeping everything moving along. This is a must read if you enjoy historical romances.
Honestly i like the way the FL never lied in the letters she sent to the ML and by page 30 he was addressed, so it didn't drag out. Also there was limited unnecessary conflict in the relationship. I also liked the FL she was a relatable character who went after what she wanted.
Lack of honest communication or deliberate false information is basis of this book. She falsely portrayed herself in a way to win his love. Her brother propelled them also into an economic crisis with his plans. But all issues are solved!
Great story!! A determined woman! A woman in love and not taking no for an answer. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this tale. The characters are interesting and the flow of the story intriguing.
