Ben's Damn Adventure #3

The Prince Goes Nuclear

Rate this book
Having barely escaped the Overcavern Forest with his life, Ben is ready for some peace and safety in the city of Solas. Unfortunately he won't find it, not in that nightmare of a city. Especially not with the pristine body of Betsy the Purebeast safely sealed away in his Utility Pocket; a treasure so rare that it's garnered interest from all the wrong kinds of powerful people. With Vivi once again accused of the very same crimes he'd was exiled for, the power of Solas are determined to use this farce of a trial (by human standards) to rip Betsy from the teams still cooling fingers.

Join Ben as he learns the true meaning of friendship, how the criminal justice system works in The World, and how good it feels to be on the right side of Nuclear Diplomacy in a city designed for the exclusive purpose of robbing every newcomer to The System blind.

And time loops, he learns about time loops too.

This is Ben's Damn Adventure Book 3: The Prince Goes Nuclear.

This series needs to be experienced as an audiobook. The narrator absolutely nails it. I was giggling throughout.

The Prince Goes Nuclear

"The Prince Goes Nuclear" by Matthew Howry is the explosive third installment in the "Ben's Damn Adventure" series that continues to deliver uproarious humor and unexpected twists. If you've been following Ben's wild journey so far, this book takes the madness to a whole new level.

Once again, we find ourselves in the company of Ben, the unassuming hero who can't seem to escape the wacky world of talking animals, eccentric wizards, and, of course, a prince who just can't keep his pants on. In this installment, Ben faces his most bizarre and unpredictable challenges yet, as he navigates a realm filled with nuclear-powered contraptions, eccentric inventors, and an increasingly absurd cast of characters.

Matthew Howry's humor is as sharp as ever, and he effortlessly blends slapstick comedy, witty wordplay, and clever absurdity into a laugh-out-loud narrative. There were moments when I found myself laughing so hard that I had to put the book down to catch my breath. Howry's comedic timing and knack for crafting outlandish situations are truly exceptional.

While the book is packed with humor, it's not all jokes and gags. Beneath the absurdity, there are moments of heart and meaning. The theme of embracing one's uniqueness and finding strength in unexpected places continues to be a central thread in the story. Ben's growth as a character and his ability to adapt to the increasingly bizarre challenges make him an even more endearing protagonist.

As with the previous books, the pacing in "The Prince Goes Nuclear" is excellent. Short chapters and a breakneck plot keep the reader engaged from beginning to end. Howry's ability to surprise and shock with each new twist is a testament to his storytelling prowess.

While this book is part of a series, it can also be enjoyed as a standalone story. Howry does a fantastic job of providing enough context and background information to ensure that new readers can dive right in without feeling lost.

In conclusion, "The Prince Goes Nuclear" is a fantastic addition to the "Ben's Damn Adventure" series. Matthew Howry's irreverent humor and creative imagination continue to shine in this installment. If you're looking for a book that will tickle your funny bone and take you on a wild and unpredictable ride, then this is a must-read. Be prepared to laugh, gasp, and wonder how on earth Ben will navigate the latest absurdity that this pants-less world throws at him.

Amazing

This series is like crack!fiction but it WORKS! Humans get amazing abilities once they’ve evolved. When they learn how The World works they’re gonna force everyone to regret their presence.
Seriously- fuck Solas.
I absolutely adore the dynamic of Team Ben, including Anna. I fully support adding her to the official party, though I’m not sure if it’s possible, given their Questor status. The personal growth of the [Party] +Anna is monumental and I’m so here for it. They’re learning to work/fight together, how their abilities, classes and skills can further their goals while still… appearing to work to the benefit of the City of Solas. Meanwhile they’re fucking this city so hard. I hope humans everywhere are PISSED. The World wants to classify them as Monsters? Bitch, you ASKED FOR IT!
And Frankie; wonderful, adorable, kleptomaniac Frankie. Born from a [Wand of Lesser Elemental]. Only Humans saw the worth of those wands instantly and by god, the Dwarves knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they gave the design to The System. Kick ass my dude. Kick. Ass.

I used to think that Brandon Sanderson was the most creative author of this generation. I was wrong. Take his creativity, multiply it by a thousand, and add an acid trip and you get this series!!! Seriously though, was the author tripping on acid when writing this? Apparently a lot of musicians did that back in the day to write hit songs so I’m not going to discount the idea.

It’s been awhile since I read the previous two books in the series and I forgot how damn funny and random this series is. The author is a creative entertaining genius. Pair that with Johnathan McClain’s hilarious narration and I was literally dying!

A great example would be one of Ben’s thoughts during the story. What is the first thing you should do when you find yourself in an isekai story? Make sure you aren’t in a musical! Things like this are happening every second and the execution was perfect. At no point does it get old or detract from the awesome story.

I originally bought the kindle edition, but when I found out it was narrated by Johnathan McClain I immediately bought the audible version. Holy crap. It was so good. You have to listen to it! This series, along with Heretical Fishing and Shattered Dreams were my favorite series I read last year! Love, love, love this series!

This book is as trippy as the previous books.

Hmm.

I had this book for a while, I don't know why I put it off, but I enjoyed it in the end.

Waiting to see what silliness and exploits will be contained in the sequel.

I thought this was the final book in the series, but there is way too much stuff in this story that does not seem finished by the end of the book. I think the author may have just given up on the series after three books, rather than the author intending book three to conclude the series. The book had some really great moments in it, but I was a bit annoyed that the book did not wrap up the story.

Theodore Geisel in angry mode

It all barely makes sense. A chaotic kind of nonsense that pulls together into reason through sheer absurdity. Man I love this stuff.

Looking forward to more shenanigans.

Does a great job living up to earlier installments

Without giving away any plot details, all the silly, over-the-top lit RPG goodness of the previous two books is lived up to. Thank you Matthew Howry for sharing your imagination with us.

Got the audio book of this one. And I got to say McClain normally pretty awesome. This book with Howry's script. He just pops off. The rizz is over 9000. Great book. It's a blast. Go enjoy it if you like fun things. I await the next book patiently.

After getting a. it slow and stale in book #2, Ben's story continues as fun, and as entertaing as it started with this tale of justice and nuclear bombs. It makes you laugh (a lot), and it keeps you invested in the story and the characters. (More than) good enough for me :)

Had a lot of fun listening to these audiobooks. Can't wait for the next book in the series. The story is all over the place but still fun.

Shortbus is my favorite character. He's great comic relief!
