A cosy country Christmastide.

An ill-timed quest to expose injustice.

A determined pursuit that sets everything asunder.

When Eleanor and Annalise arrive at Stapleford Hall and begin to acclimatise to the slow rhythms of a secluded country life, they expect the remaining months of Eleanor’s confinement to continue as uneventfully as they began.

But then a Christmas outing sets them on an unexpected mission to seek justice for the women of Cambridgeshire who are subject to the tyranny of the University Proctors and the questionable practice of confining them to The Spinning House without reasonable cause or a fair trial.

Their quest to expose this unlawful custom leads them on a path of spontaneous adventure, new acquaintances, and a chance to test their thespian skills and new disguises.

It would be risky business in any event, but with Eleanor lying low and Giles expanding his countrywide search for her, the timing might have been better.

As the Midwinter winds set over the frost-bitten Fens, unforeseen danger begins to crystallise in the powdery snow trails of their perilous footprints.

Wow. This is one of the most thrilling books saga ever, it is so well written, lots of historical research. This author is hugely talented, her characters journey and developemental growth is phenomenal. There lots of twist and turns and romance in this book. With an introduction of new settings, across the uk, and new exciting character's which really bring this book to life. I cannot wait to see this saga on the big screen. This series will be a huge success and be bigger then twilight and Bridgeton. I could not put this book down and I highly recommend this great novel to anyone who likes regency, History, romance other genres. As this series expands many. I look forward too book four and the rest that follow.

Excellent third book in the series following on from Appetence and does not disappoint.
Attention to detail and period specific information is fantastic and helps to build mental imagery as reading the novels which has been consistent throughout the 3 books.
The story is very well written, gripping and keeps you wanting to read on. The Author has a fantastic way way of delivering the unexpected and throwing in some some rather comical moments.

Fantastic, well written and very romantic. This third chapter in the saga is full of twist and surprises that keep the reader in suspense and enthralled on the journey of a new location has instore for main protagonists of story. I found alot of the characters had grown and also become more endearing. With the introduction of new characters who worked very well as other old characters make a return. Very imaginative and set in various locations this shows how brave and daring Eleanor had to become to survive her circumstances and adapt to having to hide and take on new identities. It's amazingly shows how this regency world was a man's world and womens rights were next to none regardless of class they were second class citizens and even being a wife could be a prison sentence if your partner was ill favoured. With the villains of the novel showing there detestable nature and when you think your dislike for these character could not grow further it does. I could not put this novel down and look very forwarded to reading the other novels this saga contains . There is so much depth in this well written book, after reading three novels I could really picture this working well on the big screen. The discriptiveness and level of imaginative writing and the thought provoking this novel produces is unparalleled and always so informative and as well as it being a fictional novel I learn alot of historical knowledge from the time which I was unaware of and find enlightening. Definable, and one of the greatest authors of our day and generation I think this book will be the making of the author and alot of movies and great things will come from it. Although reading the book is more then enough. I could see it doing well on so many levels. Highly recommend this, start from book 1 and work your way through.
