Ever wondered what it would be like to copulate with one of the aliens creatures from the movie Avatar? Then these are the book for you!
I have read every single book in this series (Drixonian Warrior Series), including every book of the each offshoot, and cannot wait for the next one to come out. This book is one of those offshoots, while staying true to the Drixonians we’ve come to love. Similar to the Stolen Warrior series, only this time, it’s the human females that have the “enhancements” instead of the Drixonians. 6 human females were abducted and experimented on by the Uldani, until they stole a spaceship and eacaped Torin, crashing on her sister planet Corin. Corin was the Drix's home planet, most of which have made it back to after escaping imprisonment on Torin, and have recolonized their capital Granit with a mixture of humans and Drixonians.
Written in first person by ELLA MAVEN, THE ALIEN’S CHASE is the 6th book in the OUTCASTS OF CORIN series, and switches perspectives between Neve and her Drixonian warrior Relk.
Neve Hillshire was a human insurance underwriter from Earth before she was abducted and experimented on by the Uldani. Her "enhancements" allowed her to read people's thoughts, which came in handy with her mute lover. After she and 5 other human females stole a ship and escaped, they were separated by an attack from the Joktals. She was rescued from the Joktals by Relk. Neve is the last of her group to be found and by her Drixonian mate and reunited with her new friends.
Relk was an outcasts son of naught, the son of royalty who abandoned his post. He was born mute, never having the ability to speak or make sounds. After he was captured by the Uldani on Torin, they messed with his head, blocking out all of his memories. He had left his clan of outcasts and made a home inside a cave in a valley. He rescued a neevia named Biza, who was the matriarchal leader of the neevias (pink monkeys). The neevias kept Relk safe and protected, as well as Queen Poroa of the loris settlement of Trilia, after Relk rescued some captured loris (short humanoid cats).
After Neve fucked herself up by rolling down a cliff, Relk protected her and nurtured her back to health. The two developed a bond and fell in love. Together, Neve helped Relk unlock his lost memories. After she was well enough to travel, they headed towards Granit to rescue her friends. What they found instead was answers and a home.
This book follows the same pattern as all the others. Boy saves girl, boy has issues about his past that prevents him from “claiming” girl, girl has exact same issues, girl saves boy somehow, “Fatas” gives both boy and girl matching wrist tattoos that mark them as mates, boy and girl finally accept their feelings for each other and live happily ever after. That’s the bases for each and every book. Still, I will read it over and over again with a sense of fulfillment. With that being said, this book actually lacked the denial, which was a HUGE breath of fresh air. Neither Relk nor Neve fought being mated to each other, and welcomed each other’s presence once an attraction was established. It was a nice change for once.
First (and only) intercourse took place in chapter 10 at the 73% mark. The author dangled the cheese for so long that it molded. Don't get me wrong, the couple performed oral copulation a couple times before they "sealed the deal." But they received their loks, becoming cora-eternals long before they actually had sex (which was in chapter 9 at the 64% mark). The cora-eternal bond is activated when the female's blood is spilled, likely by an enemy, and the loks appear when said enemy is killed. Every couple so far (except for Shep and Hap in THE ALIEN’S HEALER) has gained loks from their cora-eternal mates. The romantic scenes were fire, as always. Even though Relk was a virgin with memory loss, basic instincts guided him to finding his release. It helped that Neve was somewhat experienced in the matter. Drixonians have huge cocks with little nubs at the base that latch onto the clit with a sucking motion. (Ugh, if only humans had that piece of anatomy.)
I was slightly sidelined by some dialogue at the very end of the book. The passage reads: "You healed me. And I will stick with you. He cupped my face and tilted my head back. You’d do the same for me." Here's how that translated: "You saved me, so now I OWE it to you to stay. You'd feel obligated as well." And nothing about that is romantic. In fact, that's just a divorce waiting to happen, lol.
I heavily recommend this book. (Heck, the entire series and offshoots.) This author is absolutely brilliant! They have balanced the perfect amount of action, adventure, desire and romance. There were a number of editorial errors, but they didn't detract from the story. I am still disappointed with the short length of the books, I wish they were slightly longer. They’re too quick to read! Then I’m stuck reading other crap while waiting for the next book to come out. Grrr. I will be even more disappointed when the Drixonian story comes to an end.
All I have left to say is, “She is all!“
