Weihnachten mit Rilke. Briefe und Gedichte
Besonders auf seinen Reisen zeigte sich für Rainer Maria Rilke einmal mehr, was das Weihnachtsfest für ihn bedeutet. Wo auch immer er sich befand, am 24. Dezember stellte sie sich ein, die »unvergleichliche Erwartung«, die für Rainer Maria Rilke mit Heiligabend und langen Winterabenden verbunden war. Eindringlich und nahbar beschreibt er in seinen Briefen an Familie und Freunde wie Anton Kippenberg, Lou Andreas-Salomé oder Franz Xaver Kappus, was ihm das »liebe alte Fest« bedeutet. Auch seine Adventsgedichte und die Erzählung »Das Christkind« zeugen von seiner literarischen Kraft, die bis heute den Weihnachtsabend in einem ganz eigenen Licht erstrahlen lässt.

Obwohl August Diehl die Briefe und Gedichte wunderbar vorträgt, fand ich es schwierig, mich auf sie zu konzentrieren. Rilke sollte ich generell wohl lieber selbst lesen. Außerdem finde ich es mühsam, den Briefen ohne Kontext zu folgen. Manchmal ergibt sich, ob es sich um Mutter oder Schwester handelt, oft wusste ich aber weder, wer der*die Adressat*in ist und wie Rilke zu ihnen steht, noch in welcher Lage Rilke sich selbst gerade in seinem Leben und Schaffen befindet. Die Gedichte funktionieren da deutlich besser.
