Nepatiko nei man, nei dukrai.
Tekstas rašytas eilėraštukų forma, netvarkingai išmėtytas, o tokie išsireiškimai kaip "riaugėti"... hm. Įspūdžio tikrai nepaliko.
Nemalonu nei skaityt, nei žiuret į netvarkingai išmėtytą tekstą ir iliustracijas. O prasmės ir esmės neradau apskritai...

A fantastic tale of self-discovery, sharing the stage, and being part of a community. Goldy the Gecko has spirit, the illustrations are vibrant and SUPER attractive, and this is just a really engaging story about getting back what you give. A lovely message and a fun story. Will be reading this again.

Schön illustriertes Bilderbuch über einen Gecko, der lernt, dass er nicht immer im Mittelpunkt stehen muss. Die Geschichte hat im Vergleich zu einigen anderen Büchern dieser Serie wenig holprige Reime, ist im Vergleich aber etwas weniger tiefsinnig.
Meinem fast fünfjährigen Sohn gefallen diese Bücher trotzdem zwischendurch immer noch sehr gut, er verlangt regelmäßig, dass ich ihm eines vorlese.

Vesele ilustracije, taman za čitanje razredu prije ljetnih praznika. Mojim prvašićima se jako svidjela slikovnica. "Nije dobro biti sebičan, važno je misliti na druge..." I puno drugih lijepih zaključaka sam čula od njih... Čak je jedna učenica rekla da su ostali trebali gušteru na ljubazan način reći da ih smeta njegovo urlanje.

Gekkie de gekko houdt van zingen is een sprankelend, rijmend prentenboek vol prachtige prenten. Gekkie droomt ervan om een ster te worden! Er is alleen één klein probleem: hij zingt zo vals als een kraai – en dat heeft hij zelf nog niet door. Wanneer hij zijn eigen echo terughoort, ontdekt hij de waarheid. Gelukkig ontmoet hij een vriendelijke vlinder die hem een waardevolle tip geeft. Wat er daarna gebeurt, is verrassend en hartverwarmend.
Het verhaal zit vol humor én leert kinderen tegelijkertijd iets bijzonders: wat een echo is, hoe muziek werkt, dat samen vaak mooier klinkt dan alleen, en hoe belangrijk het is om naar elkaar te luisteren en rekening te houden met een ander.

Probablement mon préféré de la collection jusqu'à maintenant. Gustave a un comportement assez exubérant qui agace son entourage. Il se retrouve un jour face à son écho et comprend bien des choses. Que la grandeur de sa personne n'est pas relié à ce qu'il accomplit, mais bien comment il l'accomplit. Superbe morale, les couleurs sont au top comme toujours. Vraiment une belle petite collection pour les jeunes. 😁

Gekkie de gekko is dol op zingen. Het liefst zingt hij van ’s ochtends vroeg tot ’s avonds laat. Hij denkt dat zijn stem de mooiste stem is van het hele eiland en wil een echte ster worden. Daarom zingt hij voor iedereen die hij tegenkomt, maar de andere gekko’s hebben er genoeg van. Gekkie zijn stem is helemaal niet zo mooi en ze willen niet de hele dag luisteren naar zijn valse gekraai. Ze willen dat Gekkie stopt met zingen, maar hij is rotsvast overtuigd van zijn zangtalent en ziet dit niet zitten. Gekkie vertrekt en komt terecht bij een prachtige kloof. Daar zingt hij naar hartenlust, alleen is hij niet de enige die zingt op deze plek. Deze andere stem zijn gezang klinkt vreselijk vals. Uiteindelijk ontdekt Gekkie de gekko een wijze les en keert hij terug naar zijn familie.
Het verhaal is rijmend geschreven. Dat is fijn omdat dit ervoor zorgt dat het boek vlotter leest. Bovendien kan je als voorlezer tijdens het lezen allerlei stemmetjes aannemen. Dit wordt nog eens benadrukt in de tekst doordat deze woorden vetgedrukt zijn. Tijdens het lezen volg je het verhaal mee van Gekkie. Je ontdekt al snel dat Gekkie zijn familie niet zo dol is op zijn zangstem. Op het laatste leert Gekkie een wijze levensles en dat zorgt ervoor dat hij het zingen anders gaat aanpakken.
De illustraties die in ‘Gekkie de gekko’ staan zijn prachtig. Elke bladzijde opnieuw word je betoverd door de kleurenpracht die aanwezig is. De natuur is schitterend vormgegeven en de kleuren spatten van de tekeningen. De kloof is één van mijn favoriete illustraties uit het verhaal met de warme zandkleur die er bovenuit steekt.
Kortom, ‘Gekkie de gekko’ wist mij te betoveren. Gekkie zelf, de prachtige illustraties en de wijze les maken dit prentenboek tot een echte aanwinst in je boekenkast. Daarom krijgt het van mij vijf sterren.

A standout among the crowd, Goldy the Gecko knows he is destined to be a great star and spends all day and night singing and dancing his way around. However, the out of tune singing and inconsiderate dancing become too much for Goldy’s family who declare they have had enough.
Hardly phased, Goldy heads off to share his talents elsewhere. When Goldy discovers a beautiful canyon to perform to, he is confronted with a horrible tuneless sound echoing back. When Goldy discovers this voice is his own, the revelation sends him back to his family with a new perspective.
A story that reminds us to be kind and considerate to others, as well as to celebrate what makes each of us unique. Beautifully written in lyrical rhymes, accompanied by stunning, bright, and immersive illustrations. This story is full of fun and thoroughly enjoyable to read.

***** (PB) I thought this was a fun rhyming picture book! The colors are vibrant and will pull readers right in. It is a story of a gecko who always wants everyone's attention. One day he travels to the canyon and his voice echoes back. He was not prepared to hear his voice and had to make some changes in his attitude. It is a cute story that kids will be able to relate to and enjoy. The illustrations are outstanding and fun. Highly recommended for Grades K-3.

I was browsing through some comic books when I saw this cute gecko staring at me. (Ha,Joke!) Anyhoo, when I picked it up and decided to check it out. I was so fascinated after a few pages. The cheerful upbeat vibes this book had, it was so colourful and funny.

Goldy the Gecko has dreams of becoming a big star in the entertainment world. But as he pursues his big dreams, his daily actions begin to wear on the other geckos, so he is asked to leave. Goldy soon discovers something very revealing about himself when he hears his own echo, that changes his entire outlook on life.

Someone donated this book to my class from our book fair. It is a book that reminds students to be kinder and more aware of others. This line from the book sums it up, "And so, if we know that we get what we give...then giving out love is a great way to live." This will be going on my classroom book shelf for my students to read.

Adorei as ilustrações e achei engraçado o trocadilho entre “geco”, “eco” e o “ego” que estava subentendido.
“Ser importante é ter um dom especial: mostrar que cada um de nós pode ser original! Seja qual for a viagem, ou o caminho onde estiveres, a resposta do eco será sempre a que tu deres.
Por isso, se a vida é dar e receber então dar amor é a melhor forma de viver.”

The illustrations in The Gecko and the Echo are cute and the story has potential, but I didn’t love the message. It felt like Gecko was being told not to be loud or fully himself, which didn’t sit right with me—especially in a book for young kids. I would have preferred a more empowering ending where his energy was celebrated instead of silenced.

De minste uit de serie. Boodschap was heel goed, maar kwam pas erg laat duidelijk naar voren. Kwam wat langzamer op gang dan de rest heb ik het idee. Maar alsnog vermakelijk, dit duo kan niet echt de mist in gaan.

Wauw, wauw, wauw! De illustraties in dit boek zijn werkelijk waar PRACHTIG ALLEMACHTIG! Zo kleurrijk, zo levendig, met detail.
Daarnaast vind ik de boeken van Rachel Bright een mooie serie met onderwerpen als vriendschap, delen, in jezelf geloven, en meer.
