Rob Walker is a Special Forces operator on a mission—to take down an elusive enemy who strikes from the shadows and disappears without a trace.
Sent to Ukraine to assist the Ukrainian military against the oncoming Russian invasion, Rob and his team find themselves in the middle of a brutal guerrilla war that threatens to tear the country apart.
With his captain killed by an enemy sniper, Rob takes it upon himself to hunt down the enemy assassin and stop them from gaining the upper hand.

I believe that I received this book from the author and the Voracious Readers website (sometimes I am not sure who I received the book from because I belong to a few different ARC websites, my bad)
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
If you like a great deal of action, then this is definitely a book for you. This story begins with Rob and the rest of his team arriving in Ukraine. They have been sent as advisors and are to remain hidden so that Russia doesn't find out. They no sooner arrive than they are sent on a mission. They perform well however one of their members is shot by a sniper. This member who is shot is the leader of Rob's group and dies while returning to base. The sniper is one who has been killing high-profile members of the government as well as high-ranking military personnel. Rob decides that given the opportunity, he will avenge his captain's death.
When they arrive back at base that he and Riley are later told that they are being assigned to a special ops group which is more in line with what they normally do. As part of this group, they wind up performing missions, one of which has a major impact on the United States.
To learn what Robb, Riley, and the rest of the group go through, what the missions they perform as well as who and what eventually happens on Rob's hunt for the sniper, then you need to read this book. It is a definite winner.
The only "issue" that I found with the epub copy that I had was that the last three chapters were all right justified with the punctuation that would normally be at the end of the respective sentence was at the first (an easy correction that can be made in editing)
As far as reviews go, I found that this book would be enjoyed by those who enjoy reading fiction that reads like it could have been pulled from the headlines of the paper, combat action literature. I would easily rate this book a solid four stars out of five and would definitely be interested in reading more of this author's books.
As with all my literary ramblings, these opinions are just a few thoughts

Thank you John Eterlee for providing me an advanced copy to read and review.
I have been reading the series and this is the third book in the series. Rob Walker is a sniper for the US military and has been sent to Ukraine to provide some advice and guidance to the Ukrainian military but has been advised that he cannot get involved in battles as the US wants to stay clear of getting involved in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
This book made me feel like I was at the frontlines of a battle. I was impressed by all the detail in the book describing different locations, equipment available, and some strategic play on how to handle situations.
Once again the story captured my attention and keeps me engaged to the end. It's a great read especially if you like military thrillers. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to read something to escape into. This book was a solid 4 star read for me. I am ready to see what other stories are coming down the pipeline.
This book isn't my usual genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to every second of it and have already recommended it to others. The story was well-paced and timely, the characters were likable and well-rounded, and even the bad guys were written in a way that made them entertaining. I may have to go back and buy the other two books in this series, however, I am also happy that this book was not so reliant on the previous books that I felt something was missing. References to past books can sometimes make me feel like I need to go back and read everything else first but this book is easily read as a standalone. I only want to go back and read the others because this one was so well done.
Hands Off. Americans are not in the Ukraine. But they are. Training is good but DO NOT get involved. But ... When has Special Forces just stood by and watched death march around them knowing that with a little help they can save lives. Drama up and down the countryside has Rob and his team working side-by-side with the Ukrainians. Training seems to be coming as hands on ... do this not that. How much trouble is Rob causing the American President and what are the consequences? Gritty drama, real feel battles, Authentic feeling issues and costly decisions. Gripping ... Read this series.
This is the third book of the series and I think they just keep getting better and better. Rob Walker and his team are unofficially in Ukraine helping them in Russia's war against them. There is a particular assassin that is really causing problems that Rob and team need to find and take care of. So much action makes this book hard to put down once you start reading. You won't want to stop until you get to the end. Highly recommend this book and the series.
To read a book of fiction is a wonderful thing as you can completely lose yourself in the story. To read a book about a conflict that is still ongoing takes it to another level. I learnt more about the war in Ukraine from this book than I ever learnt with the news. One of the most powerful books I have ever read as the author makes you feel like you are actually there.
The third book in this series and each one is a winner. Rob Walker and his team are sent to Ukraine unofficially to help with the war with Russia. They are told not to get involved in battles but are looking for a assassin that is causing trouble that Rob and his team need to find. Highly recommend this book thoroughly enjoyed the read
Interesting concept but flawed in a number of ways. Timelines impossible for starters although the setting was original the action was generic One ironic thing was accusing Russia of using mercenaries as if American would never dream of that however events in Iraq Afghanistan say thats not the case.
I have the same book for book 3 and 4. What's going on? I just finished book 3 thinking let me download the 4th book since I was going to work. But when I read what it was about I figured maybe the books are similar. Apparently book 3 is actually book 4? Very irritating.
Excellent read. Realistic and timely. But, let’s not forget, which was not covered here, the financial dealings between Ukrainian and Biden personnel years ago. Just a thought. And I am ex Army no right wing loon
This book is so bank up to date and so believable.. Thank you for looking at another side of war I would not have thought off So this is book three HURRY UP WITH THE NEXT THREE
Well written with scenarios and action that grips you page by page. The author has developed strong characters and plausible plots that keeps the reader engaged.
Realism of SpecOps and operations are still not fully developed by author. Don’t know if it’s intentional or not. If you’re knowledgeable of Special Forces, some of the writing is fantasy. However, it’s an entertaining read.
Best in the series so far. Rob Walker is evolving nicely, he is becoming more like David Rivers. The ending was a bit anti-climate and I am stilling mourning Capt. Wells. I look forward to the next in the series.
I didn't like this one as much as the first 2 in the series. It felt a bit uncomfortable to be reading a book set in a real life ongoing war zone. That said it was a good read.
Kept me riveted from the beginning to the end. I literally could not put it down. I've now read all three books and hope that John will bring out more in the series.
