At first appearance this looks and reads like an erotica novel without question, and it is either a light erotica novel or a steamy romance novel. It also has a deeper world building element though. While it not very prevalent and comes later in the story, there is an element of colonialism, and the view of a colonial power viewing a native people as lesser then human and inferior to themselves. And the actions they take towards those native people for "there protection". While this was an unexpected aspect of the book when I picked it up expecting a erotica it was enjoyably addition that added some depth and another element.
