The Perfect Holiday by Sherryl Woods

Debbie Macomber is a #1 New York Times bestselling author and one of today’s most popular writers with more than 200 million copies of her books in print worldwide. In her novels, Macomber brings to life compelling relationships that embrace family and enduring friendships, uplifting her readers with stories of connection and hope. Macomber’s novels have spent over 1,000 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. Fifteen of these novels hit the number one spot.
In 2023, Macomber’s all-new hardcover publication includes Must Love Flowers (July). In addition to fiction, Macomber has also published three bestselling cookbooks, three adult coloring books, numerous inspirational and nonfiction works, and two acclaimed children’s books.
Celebrated as “the official storyteller of Christmas”, Macomber’s annual Christmas books are beloved and six have been crafted into original Hallmark Channel movies. Macomber is also the author of the bestselling Cedar Cove Series which the Hallmark Channel chose as the basis for its first dramatic scripted television series. Debuting in 2013, Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove was a ratings favorite for three seasons.
She serves on the Guideposts National Advisory Cabinet, is a YFC National Ambassador, and is World Vision’s international spokesperson for their Knit for Kids charity initiative. A devoted grandmother, Debbie and Wayne live in Port Orchard, Washington, the town which inspired the Cedar Cove series.
Oh, gosh. What can I say about this one? I mainly chose it because it was in large print, I prefer short stories, I prefer hardbacks, and I'm a Christmas fanatic! Well, the large font was definitely easy to read and the three stories did occur around Christmastime. That's about the only Christmas thing about this book with the exception of a ton of snow.
The first story by Debbie Macomber was like reading a Hallmark movie. It was short and sweet. Boy meets girl, boy and girl fall for each other, boy wins girl, and they lived happily ever-after. All of the sugar sweetness of a two-dimensional made-for-TV movie without all the raunch of a romance novel.
The second story by Brenda Novak was a tension-filled, fast-paced story centered around a plane crash, survival and politics. What the first story lacked in raunch, this story made up for in spades. The writing style is very good, but that's overshadowed by the lewdness. It reminds me of a fanfiction in a way. Sometimes you can read a fanfiction and find an author that is truly a diamond in the rough. Well, this author writes like a lustful teenager that actually has talent. This story would be pretty darn good if it weren't for all of the moderately graphic details that seem quite gratuitous.
The third story by Sherryl Woods could have been my favorite. This story is written in an obviously professional way, BUT...(you knew there had to be a "but") There were a bit too many sex scenes. The story itself was unique. The plot line was different than your standard fare. It was a story that left you thinking, "Wow. This was a little bit better than your standard Hallmark fare" - with some mild raunch added in for good measure.
If you want a quick, easy, Hallmark-esque read with some raunch peppered throughout, this is your book! I give this book three stars because the writing is entertaining, but deduct stars because I just don't want to mix light-hearted Christmas fare with detailed mattress-dancing.
I have to say that The perfect Holiday was my favorite novella in the book. I love Sherryl Woods books. Silver Bells was really familiar to me, I just can't remember where I read it. This is a lighthearted, fun Christmas read. It's great for this busy time of year. The novellas are really short, and you can read them in one sitting.
1. A teenage daughter tries to find her father a wife. Will her father let his guard down to love again.
2. After a terrible unforeseen divorce and an even worse Christmas day, Arianna has to find herself again. Her mother falls ill, but her new friends get her through the next year celebrating Christmas every month, and her neighbour shows her that love can exist again after being hurt.
3. Savannah has left a toxic marriage, then her Aunt Mae leaves her the holiday Inn to do up and run. Along comes Trace to upend her world with help, love, and happiness.
I loved all three stories ❤️ Celebrating Christmas every month sounded great 👍

A collection of three short Christmas stories by three different authors.
The first short story was by Debbie Macomber and was very good.
The second by Brenda Novack, an author I don't believe I have ever read before, was a total disappointment. It was a so, so story, with foul language and illicit sex -- I won't bother to read this author again.
The last short story, by Sherryl Woods, was reasonably good.
Short (far-fetched) romances that unfortunately didn't interest me much, except perhaps Debbie Macomber's "Silver Bells" which was also sweet and clean. The second story (Brenda Novak's) in the collection was NOT sweet and clean. When I pick up a Christmas romance with gingerbread cookies on the cover, I'm not expecting a steamy novella in the collection.
Three great stories. I'll admit, I wasn't keen on the political story, simply because I find politics too anxiety-inducing. Despite that, the story was fantastic and I'm so glad I gave it a chance! Truly a great compilation book!
