Waking up next to your true love will ruin your life.
Camille and Preston are as close as two friends can be. They finish each other’s sentences, communicate without words, and know each other’s darkest secrets.
Preston helps Camille struggle with her traumatic past, coming to terms with her painful childhood and in turn, Camille is there for Preston as he struggles to make sense of his brother’s untimely death.
Nothing can come between them, that is until they wake up next to each other after a night of drinking too much and partying too hard.
Even though they swear nothing will change, they both know that’s a lie. Everything has changed and the spark that kept them together is quickly fading, buried by hurt feelings and unspoken desires.
Can Preston get Camille to overcome her fears of commitment and ending up just like her mother before he has to walk away for good?
Waking up Next to You is a very low steam, slow burn, friends to lovers novella about overcoming the past and conquering your fears.
As a child, you were more likely to find me listening to music with my nose in a book than on any kind of field.
I dreamed of becoming a writer and would waste my days reading everything I could get my hands on and writing my own short stories that emulated my heroes.
My parent's demands that I major in something that would pay the bills eventually won and I got a boring career that allows no room for creativity.
They were right -- it pays the bills, but my desire to write never fully went away, so a few years ago I picked up my laptop and never looked back.
Now you can find my writing on Amazon. I do this part-time, usually in the evening once my dogs go to sleep, and tell the stories I want to tell.
I strive to get better and tell more compelling stories with each release. I strive to write real people, with real problems. My heroines are not perfect or perky and my heroes are not giants with muscles on top of muscles.
I hope you enjoy my stories and leave a review to let others know what you think.
Camille and Preston have that kind of deep friendship where they know how each other thinks and are there for each other always. Their friendship was forever and they could always count on the other for protection. But waking up together after her friend Randy’s wild birthday celebration turns their world upside down. Memories come back of dancing, moving closer, and then that sexy kiss where his tongue explored new territory and set her on fire.
She finally remembered climbing into her bed but not alone… oh no. Why couldn’t it be a stranger? Everything feels different and uncomfortable as she crawls quietly out of bed and sneaks away, leaving him sleeping naked on her bed. Randy teases her in the kitchen about her fun night and how loud she and Preston were. But Camille worries that the friendship with Preston cannot survive this. She goes back to the bedroom with a glass of water for him and to wake him up to face this situation. Can they ever get back to “normal”? Or will Camille let her fears overwhelm her and destroy her lifelong friendship (and love) for Preston?
WHAT THE HECK? That’s the plot?! The girl is a coward for accepting the feelings of her best friend and in the end, she became courageous and happily ever after. And then...the end.
I am hoping for more. I didn’t expect it to be that short and plain.
An indecisive woman and a passionate man. Both of them are best friends. Had a one-night stand that made their relationship weird until they became lovers.
Camille and Preston are best friends, but she has built a wall around herself and even he has not been able to get past. I enjoyed seeing their story come together. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Average read. A bit too much with over explaining the whole mental struggle of the h, and kinda unrealistic self resolving it almost by the snap of the fingers. But I’m glad both H and h were winning their battles.
It was ok, slightly towards good but definitely not amazing. I get it that it's a novella but I still had a weird development with which I simply couldn't vibe.
If this book doesn't turn out to be the cutest thing in the world, I'm going to sue someone! Particularly, the person who decided to put this illustration on the cover.
Because if something this cute isn't really this cute.... Ooooh boy, do we have a problem!
