Launa Moon loves her isolated, mountain cabin which allows her and her cat, Fonzie, to live and write with no distractions. She is writing the latest book in her romantic series Angels of the Solstice, under the pen name Rachael Hans, while venturing into the murder mystery genre with Detective Khobi Chastain, tasked to solve the murders no one else can solve, using the pen name R L Frost. With her characters developed, her story outlines written and the coffee pot brewing, Launa is on track to finish her latest books, keeping her publishers happy. But everything changes when someone in the small, isolated, mountain town of Miiller Creek, begins to act out scenes from her books. What could initially be dismissed as coincidence, as she has never revealed to anyone in town she is an author, escalates as the residents of Miiller Creek are brutally murdered in scenes taken straight from the pages of Detective Khobi Chastain’s books. And while the body count rises Launa finds herself running for her life and trying to survive.
Crime novelist, Launa Moon wants nothing more than to live a quiet life with her cat Fonzie in a quiet mountain town, Miiller Creek. Is that too much to ask. Someone evil thinks so and starts to act out scenes from her books. Can she survive? I found The Author to be an intriguing, twisty story, well-conceived and well written. The creative mind of a crime novelist has always fascinated me. But, when it is a crime novelist writing about a crime novelist., what could be better? I liked the read completely and highly recommend The Author. Well done.
