I loved One Beautiful Promise. Layla Hagen has done it once again with another fabulous story full of romance, steam, family oriented, and finding that special someone. As the title suggests, One Beautiful Promise is just that. A beautiful second chance love story that is fun, sexy and sweet.
I loved everything about this story. There was magic and romance in the Cole and Laney’s story. This story was filled with so many sweet moments and sexy interactions and their instant connection was perfect.
This story is intertwined with sizzling chemistry, sweetness, inner turmoil and a strong family dynamic. Layla Hagen delights with another heartfelt and sweet story and I can’t wait for the next book in this fantastic series.

Laney und Cole waren einfach Zucker! Der selbsterklärte, ewige Junggeselle und die verwitwete Ärztin - was war einfach eine super schöne Lovestory. Es waren so viele Emotionen in diesem Buch, mein Herz… 🥹

Dieses Buch und ich werden keine Freunde.
Leider fand ich die Story flach, die Charaktere nicht wirklich greifbar und der Schreibstil hat mir auch überhaupt nicht zugesagt.

This was so beautiful and sweet and just what I needed. I devoured this story. The connection between Cole and Laney was immediate and right from the first chapter I was hooked. Their love story left me with happiness and heartwarming feelings.
Laney has a tragic past. She is greiving. She is struggling hugely with moving on. She is hesitant and resistive to the prospect of a new relationship with Cole.
Cole was incredibly patient. He has the Winchester charm. He is sexy and offered plenty of swoony, heartfelt moments between he and Laney. It was beautiful the way he breaks down her walls.
Cole and Laney’s time in Rome was a whirlwind but can they make it last when they are back in New York? They had their obstacles around their jobs and family but in the end I was left with happiness in my heart for them.
I love the message of family, hope and new beginnings. I can always count on Layla Hagen to deliver on her romance and this one was no different.
I highly recommend it to romance readers that love the family dynamic and a sweet, low angst love story.

I enjoyed this book. In a lot of ways, it felt like an easy and happy read. Yes, there were some serious elements and things that happened, but I also liked that both Cole and Laney were fairly open about how they felt and what they wanted. It made this a book that was just pleasant to read, without a lot of angst but all of the romance...and sometimes that is nice.
I loved the idea that they met as a pseudo set-up while both of them were in Rome. I loved that he was grumpy thinking that he would never see her again, and I loved that knowing both were all in (albeit with some reservations) from the beginning.
While this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone with minor spoilers regarding the couples in previous books (but, we all know they got their HEA, so is it really a spoiler?).
I enjoyed and recommend this title.

Lange hat es gedauert bis wir es nun endlich geschafft haben auch den vierten Teil dieser Serie zu lesen. Es war wieder ein absolutes Lesevergnügen, ich mag den Sarkasmus der Winchester-Familie, aber auch ihr Zusammenhalt ist was ganz besonderes. Auch wenn man dazwischen länger nichts liest kommt man sofort in die Geschichte und man genießt es einfach. Ich finde die Bücher von Layla Hagen noch immer so toll. Eine Geschichte über die Geschwister von Josie wären auch sehr cool, ich kann mir das so richtig vorstellen, aber vielleicht überrascht uns die Autorin und hat diese bereits geschrieben. Ich bin in love mit dieser Serie und freue mich nun auch bald Tess glücklich zu sehen, denn sie ist die einzige, die noch fehlt.

In "City of Promises" reist Cole zu einer Geschäftsreise nach Rom und trifft dort die ebenfalls aus New York stammende Assistenzärztin Laney. Gemeinsam erkunden die beiden die italienische Hauptstadt.
Das Buch ist bereits der vierte Teil der Reihe und auch dieser hat mir wieder sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Cole und Laney waren sympathische Protagonisten, die sich sehr gut ergänzt und wirklich gut zusammengepasst haben.
Das Setting war absolut toll, erst Rom und dann New York. Die Beschreibungen der Autorin waren detailliert, aber nicht zu viele Informationen, und man hatte das Gefühl mit den Protagonisten die Städte zu erkunden.
Positiv war ebenfalls wieder, dass die Geschichte ohne zu viel künstliches Drama auskommt und sich die Probleme zwischen den Charakteren durch gute Kommunikation recht schnell klären.
Ich freue mich nun auf den nächsten Teil der Reihe.

Well.... we got another swoony, sweet, and sexy romance story from Layla Hagen.
If you are a fan of a sweet, low drama story about finding love again and giving up bachelorhood...than One Beautiful Promise is the book to read. It will have you smiling all the way through.
I have to say Layla Hagen has become my number 1 author for the swoony romance story. I know if I am looking for a romance novel that isn’t angsty, doesn’t have a lot of outside drama and will take my mind off of things for awhile....Layla’s just the author to do that.
This book is the 4th in this series and is a stand-alone novel told in Dual POV. This is a family saga series so you will see interconnected characters but I don’t think these books have to be read in order. I thought the flow and pace of this story was perfect.
I loved Cole and Laney. They are such a sweet couple and their chemistry was off the charts. Laney has been through something traumatic in her past so she has thrown herself into her work as a doctor...that is until she meets Cole and he shows her there is more to life. But can Cole break down Laney’s walls and get her to open up fully to him? Will they get their HEA?? Read this story to find out.
I would definitely recommend this book to all romance readers!!

This is my second ARC from Layla Hagen.
It's a second chance, sort of love at first sight romance. It reminded me a little bit about When You're Ready by JL Berg where our heroine was struggling with the guilt of moving on. I love how she grew and developed as the pages turned. Dealing with grief has no timeline. I love that Cole was persistent in breaking down her walls.
I love Cole and Laney's story. It's heart-wrenching and heart-warming at the same time. It's sexy, sweet and swoony.

Cole cannot get Laney out of his head even after he arrives back in the US. He's so caught up in thoughts of her even though their plan was just to enjoy a fun excursion in Rome then go their separate ways, never to meet again. But now he misses her and desperately wants to see her again. What's a guy to do? Call on his family for advice, that's what!
Laney misses Cole too, but she can't let herself get caught up in what was just supposed to be a favor for a friend. She's got baggage and isn't sure she's ready to put her heart back on the line again, even for a gorgeous, charming sweetheart like Cole. Except, the more she's around him, around his large, welcoming family, her heart keeps getting in deeper. Perhaps she can open herself back up to love, if Cole and the Winchester clan are the ones offering that love.
I loved Laney and Cole! She's so sweet with such a compassionate heart, the perfect doctor. And Cole is just so sweet and persistent that it's no wonder Laney couldn't resist him. This is definitely my favorite of the series, so sweet, so passionate, and the Winchester siblings and the ones they fall in love with are fabulous.

One Beautiful Promise, book 4 in the Very Irresistible Bachelors series, features Cole Winchester, a successful real estate developer and Laney Smith, a doctor in her surgical residency. I love that they meet by chance in Rome, and an instant connection and fast friendship that later developed into a passionate romance.
This low-angst book is filled with lots of sweet moments as these two get to know one another when they are both back in their hometown of New York. We meet the Winchester family in previous editions of this series, as each of the siblings finds love. Although I have read the other books and highly recommend them, you could jump in and read One Beautiful Promise as a standalone.
Lanely is smart and confident, but vulnerable and hesitant to begin a relationship as she was widowed at a young age. Her work and education have become her focus, but she can’t help but be smitten by Cole and all of his never-ending charm. He sure knows how to make the moves and is a first class hot and handsome gentleman to boot, with a dirty mouth and eyes only for our hardworking heroine. I love how genuine and caring she is, how she gets to know his family, and how easily they all get along.
It’s refreshing to read a series that is just enjoyable and hopeful, without all the drama and tension. One Beautiful Promise will put a smile on your face for sure as Lanely lets down her guard and lets her heart fall in love again.

Cole is sexy as he hasn’t yet found a woman who can deny his charm, he is single in large part due to the fact that he has seen first hand the pain that can happen when love wrong and is successful as evidenced by the real estate company that he is a partner in. He is in Rome to finalize a business acquisition when his family arranges for him to meet Laney.
Laney is a woman who has loved deeply and is still healing from the loss. Her sole focus is on her career as a doctor and isn’t looking for love or a relationship. She has been working in Rome for the summer, but she is preparing to return back to the US and her job there.
From their first meeting the sparks fly but both agree that it will a flirtation and nothing more but Cole quickly realized that she was special. Although he wasn’t about to let her just walk out of his life he is willing to be patient and let her set the pace as he is determined to show her that their relationship can end in a happy ever after and not heartbreak.

The story of Cole and Laney was heartfelt and romantic. It is a second chance at love for Laney who lost her husband after 6 months of being married and never thought she could love again. Cole, also known as the “charmer” was the perfect match for Laney, he was very flirty and super sexy. He was also so attentive and understanding towards Laney’s needs. The chemistry between the two of them was undeniably sexy.
It was wonderful to catch up and spend time with the rest of the Winchester gang, they are so pivotal to the story of Cole and Laney.
Once again, this story did not disappoint, and I think his might be Layla’s sexiest book yet!

When in Rome... I loved that this book started off with the first encounter of Cole & Laney in Italy. That magic between them was created there!! And it was enough for them to want more even if they agreed to stay in Rome and not take it further in US. But Cole had other plans :) An adult & mature relationship where both heroes lead busy lives but choose to get to know each other better despite their schedules and Laney's baggage. Kudos to our bachelor who was able to go for a good thing when he saw it. Loved it!!

After being set up in Rome by a friend, Cole and Laney spend a few hours together exploring the city. Once back inn the US, Cole can’t get her out of her head. Laney likes Cole but the past has left her guarded. I loved the development of the relationship between Cole and Laney. The bond between the family as always made for a great read. I can’t wait to get Tess’s book, but I also hope that Josie’s siblings get books as well.

As usual, this author pulls you into the story of the character, so much so that you fall in love with each and every one of them.
This is Cole's story. Cole Winchester, the charmer of the siblings. I loved every minute reading Cole and Laney's story. And it was great catching up with what is happening with the rest of the Winchester siblings.
Now I can't wait for Tess's story.

If you’re new to the Very Irresistible Bachelors series of which this is the fourth book, don’t worry, this book can be easily read as a standalone. The series revolves around the romantic lives of the Winchester siblings Tess, Skye (Robert) Ryker (Heather) Cole (Laney) and cousin Hunter (Josie). The Winchesters are a very tight knit family so even if you haven’t read the other books you’ll get to see all of them and their significant others in this story.
This book focuses on Cole the youngest sibling and the last single and most confirmed bachelor of the three men. The sibling’s father abandoned their family, devastating their mother when they were young which left Cole not believing in love and marriage and not wanting to be a party to messy breakups. So now in his late twenties or early thirties Cole’s dating life has been limited to very brief hookups with no emotional entanglements. One of the things I really liked about this story is that the author didn’t take the predictable, easy way out for a story about a confirmed bachelor and make it about Cole being attracted to someone but fighting his feelings for her, refusing to admit he even had feelings or was falling in love. No, as this story opens Cole is in Italy for a business deal. Cousin Hunter’s wife Josie’s younger sister Isabella has a BFF Laney Smith, a doctor who has been working at a hospital in Rome for the past several months. Isabella suggests that if Cole has time, he meet up with Laney who knows Rome well and can give him some tips on what to see before he returns to the States. This relationship between Isabelle and Laney is a brilliant way to keep Isabelle prominent in this story as I’m certain she and her two brothers will be the subjects or their own future books. In fact, the entire Winchester family has embraced Josie’s siblings making them part of their extended family. So, they all appear frequently in this and the previous book. None more so than Isabelle who now has the dual role of being both Josie’s little sister but also Laney’s sister of the heart. Best of all it doesn’t feel like Isabelle has been forced into the story just so we become familiar with the character so we want to read her story. Very cleverly done Layla! Cole the confirmed bachelor is immediately smitten with Laney Smith the beautiful surgical resident who as it happens will be returning to NYC shortly after Cole does to continue her surgical residency at Liberty Hospital. Instead of being a story about Cole refusing to acknowledge the depth of his feelings for Laney, this is the story of Cole trying to win both her heart and her trust as Laney struggles to put her sad history behind her. I like that Cole isn’t shy about expressing his feelings to Laney. In fact both Cole and Laney are pretty open in sharing their feelings with one another.
The problem here is our good doctor as she tells Cole early on has some serious emotional baggage along with a career that doesn’t leave her any time for a social life. Laney married her college sweetheart right after finishing medical school. Six months into their marriage he dies of a heart attack caused by an undetected heart condition. It’s been two years now and Laney hasn’t done anything but bury herself in her work. Which isn’t difficult considering the demands on her time as a surgical resident. She hasn’t even thought of dating. The idea makes her uncomfortable. Until she meets the stunningly handsome and charming Cole Winchester whose family nickname is “the Charmer.” Maybe it’s a “guy thing” but if I had to read Laney say, “Oh that man” one more time I think I might scream. Which is one of the very few complaints I had with this story. My other minor complaint is the seeming inconsistency with Laney’s income. On one had she lives in a shoebox of an apartment and talks about getting something better when she finishes her residency and makes more money. She says the same thing about being able to afford to send her parents on nice vacations. On the other hand she buys two expensive coffee makers as gifts while she’s in Italy and has enough money to offer to loan Isabelle money to cover her first and last months rent on an office space.
Despite them agreeing to “what happens in Rome stays in Rome” (not that anything really happened) Laney is ever present on Cole’s mind after he returns home. Within a week he calls her and asks her out. Laney also hasn’t been able to get the handsome and charming Cole off her mind so she accepts. They flirt and share some hot kisses. Understanding Laney has baggage (although she’s yet to reveal what it is) Cole tells Laney they can go as slow as she wants to. Again, this is a major sea change for Cole whose M.O. had always been one-night stands. Laney pretty quickly finds her libido over ruling her fears of intimacy and they have plenty of steamy sex. Laney is quickly adopted into the Winchester family where as an only child she relishes becoming part of this big loving and supportive family. As a reader I keep waiting for the inevitable “other shoe” to drop that will cause the couple to struggle before they can live happily ever after. In actuality this event is pretty much low on drama and angst and is resolved rather quickly.
Ultimately One Beautiful Promise is pretty much everything I want in a contemporary romance. There’s plenty of romance, plenty of sexy times, there’s the happy feels that come from the inclusion of a loving supportive family. The characters from the previous books in the series make plenty of appearances which is always a big plus in my book when I’m reading a series. The drama and angst is minimal. The H.E.A. is sweet. While the author does use the opportunity to set up future characters stories it’s not overdone and doesn’t dominate the epilogue and take away from our current couple’s H.E.A. as some authors do devoting entire epilogues to the next book in the series.
Now only the oldest Winchester sibling Tess (a wonderful character) needs to be rewarded for her eternal optimism about love and find her forever love. I am so looking forward to Tess getting her H.E.A.

This romantic tale was a very enjoyable escape from all the anxiety I was dealing with at the time. I loved that it began in Rome before switching to New York City. Cole being a tourist and Laney being a tour guide seemed like a great way for them to get to know each other initially without any real pressure.
I really enjoyed the realistic pacing of their connection once they were both back in New York. And, Laney really impressed me with how compassionate she was as a surgeon and doctor. There was a nice mix of romantic tension and moments that made me smile. My top favorite scene was the first time they fell asleep together.
Performances 5 stars each

Cole is always there for his family and shows us his soft sweet side on a regular basis but he has always claimed to be the charmer. Happy to be free spirited and steer clear of relationships. When he is travelling in Rome and sees a beautiful woman, why not introduce himself and have some fun. He certainly wasn't prepared to let her go quickly after spending some time with her.

In City of Promises wird die Liebesgeschichte eines weiteren Mitglieds des Winchester-Clans erzählt: Cole steht dieses Mal im Mittelpunkt, gemeinsam mit Laney. Und wie ich diese New York-Romane liebe!
Ich muss gestehen, das erste Viertel in Rom hat mich nicht ganz so sehr gepackt, da fand ich den Einstieg in den anderen Büchern besser. Es war mir etwas zu gestellt irgendwie. Aber dann ging es in New York weiter und es war Liebe wie bei jedem Band der Reihe!
Was ich an der Reihe liebe und auch an diesem Band:
• Reife Protagonisten in ihren 30ern
• Alle haben eine Vorgeschichte, teilweise emotionalen Ballast
• Mit Problemen wird reif umgegangen, es gibt kaum künstliches Drama
• Es spielt in New York
• Wunderbarer Familienzusammenhalt
• Heiße Szenen
Alle sind ein bisschen zu reich und zu schön, aber damit kann ich leben bei all den positiven Aspekten. J’adore cette série de Layla Hagen et j’avais particulièrement hâte de lire ce tome parce que Cole est l’un des personnages que je préfère depuis le premier tome et j’avais très hâte de découvrir son histoire. Cole se proclame comme célibataire à vie car il aime la vie qu’il mène et n’a pas besoin de plus. Mais un voyage à Rome et une rencontre avec une jolie médecin va tout changer. Laney est une amie d’une des proches de Cole et était censé lui faire visiter Rome. Elle avait hâte de lui faire découvrir cette ville qu’elle aime tant et dans laquelle elle effectue un stage de six mois. Ce à quoi elle ne s’attendait pas c’est l’attraction immédiate et irrésistible entre eux. Cole est un charmeur et Laney a bien du mal à lui résister. Malgré tout le passé de cette dernière la retient tout comme la réputation de Cole. De plus elle pense ne jamais le revoir quand elle rentrera à New-York. C’est sans compter la persévérance de Cole qui lui ne veut pas résister à ce qu’il y a entre eux. Il fait fondre petit à petit les doutes et les craintes de Laney qui se dit que finalement elle pourrait bien se laisser faire et voir si ce qu’il y a entre eux peut tenir la route…
J’ai adoré ce tome.
Cole est génial. Il est drôle, loyal, attentif, romantique, attachant et surtout très respectueux envers Laney. Il est aussi très proche de sa famille et c’est un tonton gâteau avec ses neveux et nièces.
Laney est très touchante. Elle a un passé douloureux qui la bloque pour les relations romantiques mais elle est aussi drôle et sexy. Je l’ai beaucoup aimé.
Leur relation est très romantique, drôle et émouvante.
La trame est hyper sympa, chaleureuse, drôle et familiale. Parfait pour passer un très bon moment de lecture et avoir le sourire en refermant ce livre.
J’ai été ravie de retrouver le clan Winchester et de les voir se soutenir dans les moments difficiles. C’est aussi très cool de retrouver les couples des tomes précédents et de suivre leur évolution.
Cette série est un vrai coup de coeur et je n’ai donc pas perdu de temps à lire le dernier tome qui porte sur Tess, l’aînée de la famille. Ma chronique sera très prochainement mise en ligne.

J’ai adoré ce tome.
Cole est génial. Il est drôle, loyal, attentif, romantique, attachant et surtout très respectueux envers Laney. Il est aussi très proche de sa famille et c’est un tonton gâteau avec ses neveux et nièces.
Laney est très touchante. Elle a un passé douloureux qui la bloque pour les relations romantiques mais elle est aussi drôle et sexy. Je l’ai beaucoup aimé.
Leur relation est très romantique, drôle et émouvante.
La trame est hyper sympa, chaleureuse, drôle et familiale. Parfait pour passer un très bon moment de lecture et avoir le sourire en refermant ce livre.

Sexscenerne er ret langtrukne, så til sidst endte jeg blot med at skimme dem. Ellers er det faktisk en ganske fin historie om en kvinde, der genopdager, hvordan det er at leve i stedet for blot at overleve. Kærlighedens magt er i den grad stor.

Jeg synes, at det virker knap så realistisk, at Laney det ene øjeblik ikke føler sig klar til at tænke på eller drømme om fremtiden med Cole, og i næste øjeblik er hun klar til at tage et kæmpestort skridt i forholdet.
Der findes et bind 5 i denne serie, hvor man får Tess’ historie. Det håber jeg, at forlaget også oversætter. De forskellige bøger i serien kan læses uafhængigt af hinanden, men som sædvanligt anbefaler jeg at læse dem i rækkefølge.

Cole Winchester is one of the very eligible bachelors of the Winchester brothers. He’s is the youngest of the boys and yet is very protective of his family. He’s driven and focused and is fine with random, casual relationships. He was in Rome on a business trip when a mutual friend of theirs somehow set them up to hang out.
Laney Smith took on a short residential exchange in Rome that coincided with Cole’s trip but she really works as a surgical resident at a hospital in New York City. She is beautiful, hardworking, and smart. She has been living and breathing her career so meeting Cole at a foreign country, referred to her by a good friend to show him around, came as a pleasant surprise.
The story is from both the main character’s POVs and readers will enjoy how each one rationalizes the moments together and how they approach the relationship. There is a realization on both parties about each other – some insecurities, uncertainty but somehow there are no “rash decisions”, which is a big relief for me.
This is a first time read for me with the author and it was a really good experience. I enjoyed the characters and the plot. They were all easy to relate to and love from the beginning. This book is part 4 of the Very Irresistible Bachelor series but even coming in the middle of the series did not give me any problems with jumping to the plot immediately. This is wonderful since there were books in the past that didn’t work for me on this. I came in excited that sustained till the end of the book.
I love the tight-knit relationship of Cole’s family members and their rules of “no secret between family members’. It is a good rule to abide by a family so they can help out anyone before it’s too late. Cole’s siblings are very supportive that is why everything seems to work out well for Cole in his career (with Hunter at the office) and in his personal life (with Tess and Ryker). This is how families should be…supportive and loving.
The chemistry of Cole and Laney is good. It has a good pace for me, not the insta-love that a lot swoon over but an attraction based on wanting to know more about the person. I like these types of romances since it brings some rational thought and consideration. There were not crazy emotions going all over the place and both Cole and Laney are a good match with their personalities.
There is some drama of Lacey finally getting over her past and moving on…the timing couldn’t have been better since meeting Cole but there are still a lot of things that she needs sorting out. They met in Rome without committing to anything even if the attraction grew ...but Cole then sought her out when she got back to New York since he was having strong feelings about her by then. There was something about Cole that brought back the “fire” in Lacey after the tragedy that she went through. She thought she lost it and will just carry the burden.
The characters are easy-going and honest with each other. Both are willing to take time to ‘wait’ for the other to disclose details on their own time. I miss books like these that it’s decently “smooth sailing” that is rarely offered to me. I love the flirtations going on between both characters. There is so much witty and sweet banter that even the critical readers will not consider them as “too cheesy”.
The ending was perfect since I love how it turned out. These are both smart people so don’t expect much irrational’ outbursts. I am delighted with everything how everything turned out. I think I’m turning into a “softie” for these types of romances. There is some 'self-doubt', not too much be frustrated. I love the gentleness and passion all rolled into one for both Cole and Laney. Perfect…just perfectly for me!
I highly recommend this book to readers who love romantic stories with caring family members all around. The story is sweet and gets you all positive from start to finish. It’s a great read with relatable characters that will surely make you swoon, just like the cover!
Also, I would like to recommend the series because there were hints of the other characters that got me interested in what is in-store for Tess or Isabelle.
