Three summers ago, Austin Rose and James “Cass” Cassedy were wrapped in a romance they thought would last forever. The laughs, the thrill, the late nights under the Oklahoma stars—everything about that summer was perfect.
Until it wasn’t.
Now, with Austin long gone, Cass struggles with her memory, his own self-worth, and demons too tempting for him to turn away. Can he overcome his troubles on his own, or will it take someone from his past to help him see the light?
The second book of the Red Fort Series takes a dive into the tumultuous life of addiction, trauma, and most of all, heartache.
This one just didn’t do it for me. I LOVED the audio narrator. It was his first narration and I’d listen to him again. The book was too YA and just not enough grit for me.
I found Gene Sullivan on TikTok last year and was so excited when he said he was going to narrate a book! He has a very soothing voice. This book is set in the 70s and is book #2 in the Red Dirt series. The author has said that it can be read as a standalone. I kind of struggled to like the MMC bc he was obsessed with the FMC who had left and he drowned his feelings with drugs and alcohol and used it all as an excuse for some pretty bad behavior. Once the FMC returned they had a short but sweet romance, and then the ending was crazy. I was thinking about reading the rest of the series to see if they get a HEA but I have so many other books I’m dying to read right now. Maybe if Gene narrates the rest of them I’ll think about it. 🤣
