For over two years, Sei has traveled the lands of the Kingdom of Salutania to purify the miasma and subdue the monsters that plague her new home. However, while Sei may soon bring this chapter of her life to a close, the next has already begun. The time has come for the Saint to choose her future husband. While Sei's heart has long since belonged to a certain icy-eyed knight, many others seek her hand in marriage. Now Sei and Albert must find a way to confess their feelings before a certain noble's ambitions tear them apart forever.
Saint fans may walk away from this volume a bit disappointed. While the big event does happen with Albert hawke, I can say that the plot feels a little stagnant and the page count is low.
I was disappointed with this one. It just felt anticlimactic. The story dragged and the characters all have stagnated. I am also disappointed that she hasn't dealt with Aira's character at all. I am annoyed that she seemed to use the kid for plot purposes then abandoned her. Literally just tossed the poor kid aside after she had been used. No one even thinks about or talks about the poor kid. I don't like that part. Maybe Aira will find a way home in the next book?

Ok, it finally mentions Sei getting compensated for her monster purging. At least there’s that.
It says here that in Salutania as well as Japan, it’s taboo to be friends with other than your fiancé. Nooo, this was addressed earlier, when Aira hung out with Kyle and his friends, all of whom were engaged. It very clearly said that Japan norms are different and that’s why Aira didn’t understand why the friendships were problematic.
Sei and Yuri…🤦🏻♀️ that arc was very silly. If it’s problematic for him to invite her alone, why did he do it unless he was also planning to possibly marry her? When talking about the lights and magic…Yuri is the one that taught her that you can summon lights of different brightness. Why is he surprised?? Adding color seems totally normal! This is why I said I don’t think the author considered how magic works. I also didn’t like that they think the king is the one that decides her marriage. I really feel like the marriage arc is unnecessary to create filler and conflict - she and Albert were kinda anticlimactic in the end.

Sei may be a bit to used to relying on her friends around her and socializing with those she trusts as she clearly didn't think about any social or political ramifications to her theater outing with Yuri. Perhaps by some stroke of luck that accident was the final push Albert needed though to finally confess. He certainly has been there through everything and clearly cares about Sei. Hopefully the rumors will die down soon, especially with the official announcements, but we're left with a bit of a cliffhanger possibly indicating some other challenge coming up just before the short stories at the end of this volume. Seems like possibly the story is wrapping up though if all of the swamps have been purified and Sei may finally get married, which was basically the only other question in the sky that everyone could vie for short of her products.

Like previous volumes it is mostly a slow burn slice-of-life isekai with a endearing tooth achingly romance. I find the writing entertaining, the characters likeable, combine it with some needed progress and it ends up being a fun read. It was rather short though, and I find the references to game mechanics a bit superfluous and distracting despite how rarely it is mentioned. Levels and skills have no real impact, and I feel that if you add a system, an author should make it count. Still, a fun addition to the series.
This feels shorter somehow than the rest of the volumes and retreads on familiar points, so it adds to the feeling of shortness (I think).
And while the thing I've been waiting for finally happened, it felt too abrupt. No satisfying payoff. I thought the setup was good, with the gossip about Yuri and Sei spurring Albert on, but it was too anticlimactic. I actually thought it'd build up to it, get more of the dynamics among the nobility, and then get the proposal in the next book.
Anyway, that's just my opinion.

I love this series and totally cuts off at the end! Whyyy do I have to wait for the 9th one. Anyways, I think some ppl might complain thinking it’s either dragging on or where did other characters go. I like this one as well as the other, because it gives you a deeper understanding of the world Sei is in. You make assumptions about it to find yourself wrong. It was interesting to me anyways to find out certain things and the research put into the novel. It did seem shorter than the other ones though.
After eight books we finally, *finally* got a love confession!! They’re engaged!!!!!! I’m so excited for my loves to be official!!!
Gotta say though, that cliffhanger is criminal - and I have no idea how long it’ll be before the next book comes out!!!
Seriously though, what an excellent addition to a wonderful series. I’m all caught up with currently released (in English) material, so now I just have to wait for more… what a great series though.
So much Albert & Sei in this one! Time in Hawke’s Domain, Albert’s family, a new research garden, theatre with Yuri, & an Al/Sei milestone ☺️ The story telling is still immature and the relationship pacing is still absolutely ridiculous but it is still totally adorable.
