This anthology of poetry, creative nonfiction, and visual art is rich and moving—exploring themes of self-empowerment, sexuality, femininity, fertility, transitions, acceptance, power dynamics, mistreatment, perception, mental health, love, labeling, gender norms, identity, and more. I looked up many of these writers online to see if I could find more of their work and support them! Querencia Press is doing the work of uplifting many underrepresented voices we need to be reading and seeing. I am in awe of the thoughtfulness and fierceness emerging from this collection.
I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway, so I wanted to give an honest review. I enjoyed some of the poetry in the book and the stories of person’s experiences. I can’t say that I enjoyed the whole book, but I am also not the biggest fan of poetry. The book also contains some really beautiful and moving artwork. I was happy to win this book so that I could diversify what I am reading, and I am glad that I did.
I was honored to be a contributor in this collection. Each voice is wonderfully brave, raw, and poignant. This is a must-read for anyone interested in women and queer struggles.
Lots of incredible writing and art in this volume and I felt very inspired throughout. The strength wasn’t always sustained though which is often a weakness of such big anthologies.
A wonderful contribution to the communities it celebrates though. I’m thankful to have been a part of it.
Such a great read! Not saying that just because my work is inside. The work of other contributors is so beautiful and poignant and powerful. I love reading all the different works. The vulnerability is so amazing. Wow!
Not Ghosts, But Spirits Vol. I is a powerful and beautifully curated anthology that amplifies voices from women, queer, trans, and nonbinary creators with remarkable clarity and emotional force. Across poetry, art, and hybrid expression, the collection offers a spectrum of rawness, resilience, and imaginative brilliance. Its commitment to community, healing, and visibility makes it not only artistically compelling but culturally essential.
