McDermott starts the book the way you would expect, talking about his childhood and working his way up to being Australia's pace bowling spearhead. But about halfway through the book, we delve into talking about fitness and the techniques of bowling fast, unfortnately, we never get back on to the subject of Craig McDermott. While this book should certainly be read by any young fast bowler, other people may struggle to enjoy the majority of this book.
Biggest thing in this book is Billy’s ego. One must have a healthy one to reach the heights of being an opening Test bowler for one’s country, but at least have the decency to show some trace of humbleness. A bit of a shame really as he could bowl devastating spells, I liked him more before I read this memoir.
