A male/female romance set in the Saint View world. No prior knowledge of the world is needed to start this hot new series.
I’m the ruling queen of Saint View Strip. After growing up poor, taking my clothes off and dancing for men is all I know. My thriving club and the people I employ are everything. They’re my ride or die, and I’m theirs.
Nobody is taking them away from me.
So when a local politician announces plans to bulldoze everything I’ve spent the last ten years working for, I won’t be silenced.
Not by some suit.
And not by the cops.
Joshua Boston can arrest me all he wants. He can come at me with strong arms and piercing eyes that make my insides tingle. He can push me up against the wall and cuff me all day long.
I’ll still hate him.
I’ll still want him.
In this town of gangs, shootings, and dangers around every corner, no one is safe. I’m no damsel in distress, but when a violent threat ups the stakes, it’s Boston I’m forced to turn to.
We may hate each other, but the real enemy is the one neither of us will see coming.
Evil Enemy is a dark romance that may have triggers for some readers. It was first published in the Hate to Want You Anthology.
USA Today Bestselling author Elle Thorpe is the author of over thirty romance titles, including Amazon top ten books, Start a War and Locked Up Liars. She is best known for her dark reverse harems, and sexy small town romances.
When she's not writing, she's probably out on her family's alpaca farm in rural Australia.
Evil Enemy is book one in the Saint View Strip series by Elle Thorpe. You can read this even if you haven’t read any other books by this author with no problem. If you have read her Saint View world trilogies, though, the time line of this runs parallel with the Saint View Prison series. Some of the events of that series are in the background. Which I loved. This is suspenseful and steamy and I couldn’t put it down.
Joshua Boston is a police officer in Providence. He is the partner of Jayela, who is Mae’s older sister. We met these characters in the Prison series so I loved finally seeing what was really going on with Boston.
Eve Hawkins lives in Saint View. She is thirty two years old. She owns and dances in the Saint View Strip Club. She knows her city has problems but she has worked hard to make her business a success. Her employees are her family.
It’s at a mayoral candidate, William Reed’s campaign speech that Boston is working at that he first meets Eve. William has big plans for Saint View which include bulldozing the existing businesses and building upscale shops instead. Which includes Eve’s club. And she is not taking this news sitting down. Things might have gotten a little out of hand which is where Boston got involved along with his hand cuffs! The sparks were there, though, which they both tried to ignore. Which turned out to be impossible.
These two fight the attraction for as long as they can but it proves fruitless. When Boston needs comfort, it’s Eve he goes to. And when Eve’s club is threatened, it’s Boston that comes to her aid. The book kept me on the edge of my seat and I powered through it. And, since I have read the prison trilogy, I loved seeing what was happening on this side of things. I had a little issue with how things turned out with William Reed, the mayoral candidate. It seemed like a really fast turn around that was hard for me to accept. I really enjoyed the book, though and highly recommend it, either if you’ve read this author or are a first time reader. Just grab it now!
Evil Enemy is the first standalone in the Saint View Strip series, but it's also closely connected to the Saint View Prison series (which I love). It's an MF dark romance/romantic suspense about a good guy cop falling for the owner of a strip club!
Eve is a strong and fierce heroine who owns Saint View Strip Club, and she’s a total boss. Unfortunately, there’s a local politician who’s trying to get her business shut down. Boston is the cop working as the new bodyguard for the politician, which is how he and Eve come across each other. Thankfully, Boston doesn’t actually like that politician and doesn’t agree with his views, but it does mean that Boston and Eve go head to head a lot, because they basically stand for opposite sides of this city. There’s incredible tension and banter between them, since they know they shouldn’t want each other, but they do. It’s a great standalone in the Saint View world and I enjoyed both characters so much. Plus, the audiobook is fantastic!
i honestly loved everything about this book. elle thorpe has written some of my favorite rh and romantic suspense series, so i was SO excited for this male/female romantic suspense book. i did not love boston very much i the locked up laura series, but he definitely redeemed himself in this book! i absolutely adored eve. she’s strong, passionate, a businesswoman, and always fights for what she believes in. the tension between eve (the “bad girl”) and boston (the “good cop”) was intense and angsty. i loved how well elle thorpe built up the tension between them because the pay off was so worth it. the plot with this book was intriguing and kept me hooked. of course it wouldn’t be an elle thorpe book without a cliffhanger, but book 2 releases in a week and i am about to EAT THAT UP.
“i wrapped my arms around her smaller body and held her tight, as if she were a lifeboat in a stormy sea.”
4.8⭐️ spice 3.8🌶️ Let me start by saying I never in my life expected to read a book about a cop and an exotic dancer/club owner but damnit I’m here for it 🤭 this was so unexpectedly good I didn’t wanna stop reading it.
The plot twist on this one I didn’t see coming at all it’s a dark romance so make sure to check the trigger warnings. There’s a lot going on so be prepared to take a few turns with this one
“Dance for me, Eve. Just for me.” I closed my eyes, drowning in the possessive growl of his voice.
Saint View series, all of them, are one of favorite books to read and reread and book 1 of the Saint View Strip couldn’t have been different. After starting the story and seeing so many other characters from the other Saint View series was so good and also seeing everything happen from Boston’s pov, how what happened affected him was something I hadn’t stopped to think about when reading the other books.
Evil Enemy was sooo good!! Eve and Boston, their chemistry was so hot!! Eve is a successful business woman in charge of Saint View Strip Club, she’s been running it since young after working there for years but the new mayor candidate in town wants to bulldoze his way through it to make Saint View into something their not. Eve is not going down without a fight but when things start to get dangerous, she has to trust someone she never thought she would. Boston is a beat cop, working beside Jayala, Mae’s sister (from Saint View Prison), and he tries his best to do good by everyone but he fighting against the whole department and how dirty the higher ups are will make him see that there’s more to life and love than he thought.
I absolutely loved Evil Enemy, I seriously could not put it down. As soon as I’d start reading, hours would pass and I wouldn’t even notice, which actually always happens with Elle’s books lol. I already started books 2, Unholy Sins, because I just can’t help myself!
I really like Eve and Boston - a great story and whilst not my fave in the Saint View world, I'm still keen to read more. The crossover time period with the Prison series threw me at first also, but I love the world and characters Elle has built, and will be diving straight into book 2 - there's more things I want to get the answers to and see how they unfold.
3.5 / 5 ⭐️ This didn’t do it for me like the previous books by this author has, but I definitely still enjoyed it. I didn’t realise it was a standalone (I think the storyline continues within the other books but this couples story is more or less done) so I did think it was too fast paced for my liking, but it makes sense since their love story is contained to one book. Narration was 5/5 though and I will be reading the next one because I want to see my girl Fawn home safe.
This book is a perfect balance of sweet and exciting. It takes place during the time of Mae's series. Eve and Boston are just as explosive and hot as they were in Locked Up Liars.
I just love Elle Thorpe's books and need to read more! The heroine owns a strip club that a politician is trying to trying to get closed down. She falls for the cop who is hired to work for the politician. This was just an entertaining fun time and I enjoyed it!
If you’ve read Locked Up Liars and hated Boston like I did then be prepared to be mind blown with this shocking turn of events because I actually loved him! Eve is strong, passionate, fights for what she believes in and is the owner of Saint View Strip Club, when a politician wants to destroy her business and create something more friendly for the community this brings her into the line of fire with Boston.
When Eve and Boston keep meeting under interesting circumstances you can feel the sexual tension between them and you just want them to rip off each other’s clothes and bang it out! I can tell you when it finally happens WOW! It’s hot, it’s sexy and it’s downright delicious!
It wouldn’t be a true Elle ending without a cliffhanger! Please let Fawn be alright but also bring on her story!
Evil Enemy is set in the same time as the other series Saint View Prison so some of the characters pop up in this one. It also gives some background to Mae's story in that book.
Back to this book Eve (FMC) owner of the Saint View Strip Club and a stripper herself gets herself caught up in politics (not by her own choosing) when a local politician wants to close down businesses in Saint View including hers. It kicks off a war of words and actions (on social media) that get the local police involved namely hot cop - Boston. Sparks fly between him and Eve. Phew do they bring on the steam including a very hot phone session. So Hot!!
I loved their dynamic and their banter. I also liked the characters that worked at Eve's strip club. There was a genuine sweetness and family mentality to all of them. That cliffhanger ending was killer!! As well as the taster of the next book. I cant tell you how im dying to get my hands on that book
CUFF ME OFFICER BOSTON!!…. preferably to the bed lmao
Listen, if there’s one thing i know about my baby Elle is that she rights bangers, so COLOR ME NOT SO BAFFLED when i read this one and it was a total banger lmao.. the saint view nation is unmatched. the over lapping of characters is literally top freaking notch. OFFICER BOSTON, i would like to request a set of handcuffs for the bedroom pls.. SWOON.. (also shout out to that color cover model because WOOF WOOF) holy molyyyy thats exactly how i pictured him.
for everyone thats new here, WE STAN A BA FEMALEEEEE.. we love the sass and the wittyness and the spice and thats PRECISELY who Eve is…to the core lol..
UGH, read the book!!! and if you havent read anything else Saint View go read them first like really really quickly and then come back to daddy boston!!!!
No real plot, fast pace and a bit confusing. Things were happening with zero explanation and nothing got solved. The h was a strip club owner & landlord yet she still strips and the the H was a crooked cop and didn’t want to be. They met, lust combust and that’s all we got with some strange events in between….Maybe more will continue in book 2 but I was bored with this one and it’s not worth the read.
This was amazing! And the audiobook truly was the best! It was in duet narration and It even had the phone tinging, texts, doors shutting sounds. I had a blast listening to this.
Eve and Joshua Boston meet when Mayor William Reed is doing a speech saying that he plans to change the Saint View Strip and rebuild everything and do Yoga Studios and other things.
Eve and her friends (Lyric, Fawn, Augie, Phoenix) are horrified because they live there and Eve owns a strip club, where they all work.
Eve starts protesting that no one from Saint View knew that there would be a speech from William where he will listen to people’s demands. She only learned when she went to town to get a haircut.
Joshua is a police officer who is at the speech and he stands between Eve and William when Eve gets heated. He asks her to leave but she refuses. Things escalate and the police end up arresting Eve and her friends until after William is done.
Eve and Joshua started by hating the other. They meet again when there is a call to search the strip club cuz they think they sell sex and that’s illegal. Lyric suggests giving Joshua a lap dance for him to leave them alone, cuz that’s the way it has always been. Eve gets jealous and decides to offer him a dance instead. He refuses and him and his partner leave.
Lyric and Fawn get dildos with names engraved in them as jokes. They give one to Eve with “Boston” engraved in it. Fawn gets Augie’s name and Lyric gets her own name.
Eve gets a message inviting her to dinner at William’s house so that they can resolve their issues. She goes there and its a trap so that they can arrest her for trespassing and trying to break in. Joshua is there and a media person to take pictures. Eve gets furious and destroys a garden gnome and the media guy takes her pictures. Joshua arrests her again but instead of taking her to the prison, he takes her home cuz he knows she was set up and its not worth putting her in jail for a gnome. In the car, Eve is so furious that she puts the dildo with Joshua’s name in the evidence bag with the gnome. She later regrets after Joshua lets her go.
From there they start to become friends and then lovers. I just loved their relationship.
A lot of things happen, shooting at the strip club. Fawn says that its her ex Eddie but Eve is sure that its William.
Spoilers
it’s actually Eddie and they get kidnapped. Eddie lets Eve go and takes Fawn. And we still don’t know Fawn’s fate. What saved Eve is that she is spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler
William Reed’s illegitimate daughter. Shocking I know. But that’s what saved her, cuz Eddie didn’t want trouble, he just wanted Fawn

Reading the first line/subtitle excited me enough about this story… “Cops and strippers go together like… they don’t.” 😂 to know I was going to love it! And I did when I read it in the Hate To Want You Anthology and again when I read it just now. I don’t often like to reread books, but I loved rereading this one and couldn’t put it down, it hooked me In straight away, just like the first time, and I was completely engaged the whole way through the story.
Eve was such a terrific character with her sassy mouth, strong backbone, and fierce determination. She worked hard and protected her little work family just as vigorously. However, her work family protected and cared for her just as much, and together they made one fabulous unit. When things threatened the foundation of the unit it was so heartwarming to see them pull together.
Boston was a young cop who became jaded quite early in his career through situations beyond his control. I have thought long and hard about this, and no matter which way you look at it, he couldn’t win. He was an honorable guy, though, so it ate at him. I loved him with Eve, their chemistry was off the charts, and they definitely knew how to have fun together as well.
There was, as you could guess, some outstanding humor in this story as there always is in Ms. Thorpe’s books, yet there were some very dark, serious elements too that also enriched the book and sucked you right in. These elements made for one very exciting and entertaining story. I can’t wait to read book two—Unholy Sins—I need to know what happens in the next Saint View Strip series book as of yesterday. Fair warning, addiction is real when you pick up one of this author’s books!

I put this off for a long time because I have a general rule to not read cop romances because I don’t like romanticising that particular career.
However. When I found out who the character was, and knowing where his career lead (because of his features in other books in this world), I decided to pick it up.
While Boston is a cop, Elle doesn’t shy away from showing how corrupt the police system is, which I appreciated.
The story is great as usual and the romance was adorable. This is best read after book 2 of Saint View Prison (I think).
Mind blowing!!!! I honestly didn’t know what to think about Boston. I’ve been reading Elle Thorpe for quite a while and there’s always a spin that you won’t see coming! I thought for sure Boston was a terrible guy. Turns out that even the devil has a soft side! Eve is a doll who is fierce when it comes to her family. Boston and Eve are not a couple you would think to put together, but sometimes opposites are just meant to be!!! Elle Thorpe just keeps blowing me away!
3.5 ⭐️ for story and I loved the spice in this. Full review to follow.
The duet narration for this was 5/5 both narrators are amazing and it had sound effects like phones ringing and stuff too. I wish all books were recorded in duet.
Just wait until you get to the texting scene... Wowza!
Elle Thorpe does it again as she expands the world of Saint View with Boston and Eve's story! This enemies to lovers romance is filled with drama, mystery, and so much passion, it is hard to put down!
I am sooooo glad this wasn’t my first book by Thorpe because it is not at all representative of how talented she is!!! Although this book is written as eloquently as the others and isn’t a total waste of time, compared to her other books, it’s extremely boring. It’s Elle’s fault for setting the bar so damn high!
I enjoyed this book but I’m a little agitated that the plot twist for the side characters isn’t directly related to the MCs for book 2. So now I’m left wondering when I’ll find out what’s gonna happen.
I loved this book! This wasn’t something I would normally pick for myself but it was chosen as a blind date book for me. Eve and Boston’s characters were awesome. The chemistry and spice was perfect. This was a quick easy read for me and I’m excited to continue the series
I love the Saint View series so much and I was so happy to be back in the world, I wanted to read Eve and Boston's story since the first time I met them in Saint View Prison. I knew their story was going to be hella cute. And I always end up eating up Elle Thorpe's books.
Eve and Boston were the definition of opposites attract and it played out beautifully. The cop and the strip club owner, just works. I could literally devour anything based in Saint View. I’m so excited to see more stand-alones for the side characters from the other books in the saint view world!
