When a deadly bomb goes off in a small town outside of Dallas, FBI agent Blake Wilder and her team are called to the case. Could this crime be a case of terrorism or is it murder disguised within a massive disaster? Soon Blake’s unit discovers a plot that’s far more complex. And when they unearth a revenge plot spurred on by a massive conspiracy. The layers and nuances to the bomber's plot reveal a story that puts Blake in a position she’s never been before... morally conflicted and sympathizing with the criminal.
Does adversity and pain create the monster? Or does it simply allow a monster that already exists to reveal its true nature?
The countdown has begun, and this time many lives are on the line, even Blake's...
Elle Gray lives in a small town with her 2 cats, and her handsome husky. As a girl, she was obsessed with crime novels and thrillers.
Today, she loves writing and creating thrilling novels with courageous, strong heroes/heroines and dangerous psychopaths. She invites you to join her exciting world of detectives and FBI agents that take down killers and kick butt.
I found Elle Gray's "The Hit List" a terrific installment in her Blake Wilder series of FBI procedurals and psychological thrillers.
Blake and her BU team are called to Dallas, Texas to assist in the hunt for a bomber. Their investigation leads them to uncover evidence of a terrible wrong, and deep into a jigsaw puzzle of false starts, dead ends, mounting death tolls, conspiracies, rumors, & brutality.
Racing against a clock they did not set, the tension mounts to the thrilling conclusion. Readers are left wondering - will Blake and/or the members of her team survive this case with their lives and/or jobs intact.
The Hit List is equally as hard to put down as the other books before it. I keep telling myself 1 more chapter and I'll get something done around the house oh wait let me read another chapter Oh heck I'm almost done with the book let me finish the book and I won't start another 1 until I get something done.Oh well heck I'm almost done with the book let me finish the book and I won't start another 1 until I get some things done - well I just want to see what the next book has to offer so I'll just read a couple of chapters of the next book and the story goes on and I don't get much done while on a reading binge. Once I read a couple of chapters, I'm hooked once again until I finish the next book. Help me I can't put this series down.

When Blake Wilder and her team are dispatched to Dallas to investigate a bombing she is working for her previous boss Rosie. Rosie asked for Blake's team specifically as this case needs to be resolved as quickly as possible. As Blake and her team start investigating they hit road block after road block. The person behind the bombing is very good at hiding his tracks and identity. After several dead ends they finally get a break and Blake finds herself torn between what is right and her job. Although this book is not as fast paced as her previous books in the series it does make a person question what our government actually tells the truth on and what they cover up. I am enjoying this series and highly recommend reading if this this is the type of genre you like.
I absolutely love this series, the awesome characters, as well as the thrilling cases. This story was a bit difficult though, because I could understand why and how someone like their unsub could do the things he did. Not that I would do the same, but it's easy to see how he was driven to become who they made him. I think it's horrific that people who are driven by greed and power are able to get away with the things they do. Just my personal opinion. I can't wait for the next release in this series! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
The book moved a little slow for me. I do appreciate Blake's tenacity when solving crimes. Its amazing, as an FBI agent, how often her "gut" leads her in the right direction to catch the "bad guys". It appears for the most part, the top brass support her gut instincts. She runs with it and has a proven track record. It's nice to have a heroine whom always does the right thing regardless of consequences. I'm afraid its going to bite her soon. If you've read this far into the series, I recommend you finish it.
4.65 1,937 ratings 61 reviews This is my first [and last] book by this author. A crime novel written by a female about a female investigator. What could go wrong.
At least it's very easy to follow because the book only has around six main characters - unlike many others that introduce 37 in the first three pages. But, it is written like a high school exam essay - and he said, then she said, but then he said, and all done in such a politically correct manner.
If there had been a rating for boring then 4.65 would certainly be accurate.
Another book in this series. The first several are great, but they’ve been going downhill. There isn’t much of an underlying plot anymore, there is one ‘situation’ that is still lingering, but the last few books have only included this in the first chapters and the epilogues. It’s progressing and I wonder when the end will be in sight. I will continue reading because I’ve already gone 16 books deep, but I’m not thrilled about it.

As expected of all the books in the Blake Wilder series The Hit List was another suspense filled page turner from start to finish. I'm sad to have the series end ANF hope more Blake Wilder Stories are in the works. All 16 books were excellent and Elle Gray is a new author I'm excited to have discovered and look forward to starting another of her series and have my fingers crossed that we see more of Blake in the future!
Elle Gray I love you! Such a wonderful story you have wriiten. This story folks is one great story of a man that is trying to get some bombs. No one knows his name. Each piece of information, seems to get them to a dead end. Finally they get something to use. The man's story as to why he is doing this turns out to be an amazing and understanding one. What would you do?
An innocent career military officer is framed for a terrifying act while on duty. He loses everything that he worked for. Now he is on the road to destroy all involved, but some innocents will also get hurt. Blake and her team have to stop him from blowing up all of these people. They succeed in getting to him even though they know he was framed. Blake can’t resist making a promise to him that will put her in danger.
The Hit List is one of the best books in the Blake Wilder series so far! It is suspenseful and keeps the reader on their toes until the end, which also leaves unanswered questions for Blake's future. Can't wait to read the next installment! I received a complimentary ARC copy of this book which did not influence my review.
The Blake Wilder series is a favorite and this one surpasses all. A very tough, timely story of politics and cover-ups. The bombs are huge and destructive and placed according to the bomber’s plan. But why? What atrocity turned this honorable man into the destructive criminal? Can Blake and her team figure it out in time? Couldn’t put it down.
If you haven't already, this series is a must read. Blake and her team always leave you wanting more. This is a great series and I hope she continues. I equate her with J.D. Robb and the Dallas/Rourke storyline as well as Janet Evanovich with the Stephanie Plum novels. Please keep writing about Blake. It is truly a wonderful ride
Really good book. I couldn't stop reading. Blake Wilder's character is so dynamic. Can't wait for the next book and seeing the consequences of what happened in this book. Also, who is stalking her? So many scenarios and people. Who to trust? Great writing, as always.
Blake and her team head to Texas to investigate a bombing that has killed civilians. Is this Domestic Terrorism, bad blood between cartels, industrial esponiage? Lots of possibilities and very few clues. It’s up Nick and Nina to work their digital sleuthing abilities to help figure out the who, what and why. An exhilarating page turner.
Elle Gray continues the Blake Wilder series with an intriguing story line. Elle Gray manages to come up with interesting ideas for her stories that promises not to bore but keeps the reader interested and guessing what will happen next. Awaiting her next Blake Wilder book!
The Hit List(Blake Wilder FBI Mystery Thriller Book 16)
OMG!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely loved this book. It was amazing and very sad. The government let bad men do horrible things in foreign countries and when a good man, tried to make them pay, they took everything away from him. So he got vengeance, but a lot of innocent people died.
Who really wrote this book? I read primarily fantasy and fiction but this was so unbelievable I kept rolling my eyes. Feeling bad for a terrorist who killed 100 people with bombs. Then Blake inability to control her bias and an Female FBI SAC wringing her hands like a distressed Soccer mom? Shameful!!!
I’m hooked. When I started reading this 16th book in the FBI Blake Wilder series I thought this one would wrap up the story. No. After the conclusion of this fascinating case there is a path of impending doom awaiting Blake. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next big reveal!
Elle Gray has kept me enthralled once again! I hope the next book is as good as this one! I feel like I know her best friend, Astra. and the four people in her black ops group. All I can say is this book, is the best of the best! I’m hoping her book #17 is following through with the storyline in #16! I want more! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Get the individual who is responsible for the bombs. That is the goal of the team in Texas . As they dig into the information they have they discover a situation that is difficult for Blake to ignore. The ending was sad but what they thought would happen. Interesting story.
A dark and twisty story that serves as a reminder that not all evil doers are evil. Humanity is frail. People do ugly things to each other for selfish reasons. This story serves as an extreme reminder to live life with kindness and to make the right choice instead of the easy one. Blake is truly a hero, she continues to inspire!
This was a very action packed book in the Blake Wilder series. Blake and her team had to find a bomber and stop them from setting off more bombs. This book ended with quite a cliff hanger!
I received a digital ARC of this book and this is my honest and unsolicited opinion .
Many twists and turns. What would make someone set bombs to kill innocents. Why would a stalker send only a hand to Blake. Who is the mole on Blake's team.So many questions to answer.
This book in the series as all the rest is thrilling, suspenseful and a book you can’t put down. It leaves you wanting more, especially with a cliffhanger on the last page. A must read.
What a delightful Christmas gift of a new story of Blake, et al! As always, Ms. Gray has given her readers an enthralling and well written story complete with her signature of strong characters and suspenseful plot line(s). Once again ~ well done!
The Blake Wilder series is just the ticket for me when I want some drama, intrigue and sarcastic dialogue. A terrific read for anyone who loves FBI mysteries without too much descriptive gore.
Once again, Elle Gray has done a wonderful job. I finished this one in less than a day. I literally could not put it down. It was just like I love them, suspenseful, action packed and thrilling. As always, I can't wait to read the next one!
