"Omaha History Detective: Mysteries, Myths and Memories" by Bob Marks is a very interesting and fun book about little known events in Omaha's past. Being a native Omahan and a history buff, I loved this book. However, I think most readers would find this book a lot of fun to read. The many chapters discuss events, most in the 19th or early 20th centuries, in a way that enlightens and amuses the reader. Some events involve famous people, such as Abraham Lincoln, Jerry Ford, Tom Dennison and Father Flanagan. Some involve murders or crimes. Most involve stories of everyday life. All I found interesting. The book also is richly illustrated, often with postcards or newspaper clippings that concern the events covered. I highly recommend this book to everyone, but especially those who enjoy history and have an interest in Omaha.
