Linda Howard has sunk up on me, her writing is very entertaining and quite enjoyable.

I think myself and Linda Howard are on a break! Its not you its me kind of thing. This is maybe my second or third book by LH and the repetitive writing type does nothing for me. All the talk of Loins does my nut. The thing is I really like how she focuses solely on the romantic relationship between the MC's but its all a bit cheesy and template like for my taste. They loved each secretly for years and pretended they were different personalities to keep each other at bay...nobody like them in bed etc.
He would make her his woman and she thought that he would dump her as soon as he was sick of her...Its all over the top stuff...She is poor and weak and he is big and successful and rescues her.
It should tick all the boxes but alas it doesn't.

Primero que nada.. ¿leer un libro que está conformado por dos libros, que pueden comprarse por separado cuenta cómo leer uno o dos?
Bueno diré más o menos lo que pienso de cada historia..
"Corazón roto" me ha gustado mucho.
Sinceramente con una sinopsis tan acotada no tenía idea de que se trataba exactamente. Me ha parecido diferente esta historia a otras que he leído de Linda, pero siempre con esa facilidad de lectura que tienen sus libros.
Si tuviera que describirlo en pocas palabras diría que es una historia de amor entre dos personas que luego de pasar por muchos obstáculos logran estar juntas. Son dos personas fuertes, que no bajan los brazos y luchan por lo que quieren. A medida que se van conociendo van dejando de la los conceptos erróneos que tenían del otro.
Me gustó, lo recomiendo.
Por otra parte, "Mentiras piadosas" también me gustó. Compré este libro más que nada por esta historia. Y luego terminaron gustándome las dos, aunque no es una sorpresa porque siempre me gustan los libros de Linda. No falla.
Los personajes me gustaron, aunque no fueron nada del otro mundo. En alguna ocasión me dieron ganas de golpear a Luke, pero después se me pasaba.
La trama me entretuvo, pero fue un poco previsible por momentos y me hubiera gustado saber un poco mas, un epílogo más largo. O sea, quedé como: ¿y luego que pasó?
Pero puedo decir que esta historia también me gustó y me resultó muy llevadera y fácil de leer.
Le doy 4 estrellas al libro en su totalidad. Tengo ganas de leer las otras historias de esta colección.

I read the first story but I don’t remember it much anymore. It’s the second one that I go back and read again when I get nostalgic for it.

Un libro que contiene dos novelas de esta autora.
La primera historia está ambientada en el medio oeste, una chica que intenta sacar adelante el que fue el rancho de su familia y que está en bancarrota. El héroe la ayudará y entre ellos prenderá la llama que había estado latente desde siempre. Este ha sido la novela que más me ha gustado de las dos, el protagonista masculino, aunque un tanto posesivo, se preocupa por ella y la quiere. Quizá todo pasa demasiado rápido, pero la heroína tiene coraje y no se amilana ante el trabajo. La trama me ha parecido bonita y su relación muy tierna.
La segunda historia no me ha gustado tanto porque me ha parecido inverosímil. Una chica divorciada a la que avisan de que su exmarido ha tenido un accidente y necesitan que lo identifiquen. El estado del muchacho lo hace difícil pero ella confirma que es él. Lo que más me ha gustado es el período de recuperación del héroe, cómo lo cuenta la autora de manera realista. Lo que no me ha convencido mucho es la protagonista femenina, deja toda su vida por ayudar a su exmarido e incluso cuando las cosas se aclaran para ella, sigue adelante con ello. Además, la parte de los espías y agentes secretos no está muy bien conseguida.
En fin, dos historias para pasar el rato pero que no son nada del otro mundo

Hmmm… I find myself in a dilemma - I would really like to actually have a copy of White Lies but I have no desire whatsoever to reread the other story in this volume.
This binding has the same issues volume 1 of the collection has - text small and close together.
I had…issues…with the H and to a somewhat lesser extent, the h, in the first story. He had too much of that "little woman" attitude going there. She, OTOH, did the colossally stupid thing of setting herself up as bait.

My favourite book of all time is Heartbreaker! I have managed to destroy my paperback copy.

Romance that was typical yet ahead of its time. Love her takes on traditional series' story lines.
