"This is a writing guide for someone who is prepared to sit down and read about the process of writing and who prefers the support of a sympathetic tutor rather than a source of reference or a compendium of rules. It's the sort of book which holds you by the hand and talks you gently through the issues." Roy Johnson, Mantex
Writing at University provides all the necessary tools needed for any new writer starting out or experienced writers in need of guidance, strategy and structure in their writing. This book has been a great help, and the effects of thinking through and planning the structure of an essay and getting into a writing frame of mind has given me more confidence which has started to show in my writing.
The book explores various methods in the writing process and provide examples and quotes by lecturers and students from different disciplines. One student writes about the use of digital word processing tools as part of the writing process. Using a computer and printed draft, followed by hand editing, shows how important a printed draft can be in the editing process. Seeing your work in printed form makes it much easier to edit and I have now incorporated this method in any professional work I do.
