Even though the manga only get up to the 5th LN volume, this was a pretty good end point. I liked how Chrome Disaster was brought back through the parasitic line (but not so much the sheer overcoming it with will power/main character OP-ness.) I was also surprised when Raker was actually the last leg (pun intended) for the Race and not Crow/Haru just because he has wings and is the main character. Although the leg fiasco with Raker was kind of weird, overcoming her fears and regaining her legs to soar to the finish line was a great touch. Of course it ends cheesily but points you to the LN to find out about Rust and what'll happen with Haru becoming the 6th Chrome Disaster.
not enough of my girl Kuroyukihime in this one but -
I can't believe this is the end of the manga series, and even though the LNs continue (the manga only follows up through volume 5 of the LNs) I will miss the visuals, especially of Sa-chan.
In this final volume of Accel World, the race continues and gets some new dynamic with the introduction of a new goal. In this volume, I especially noticed how good the facial expressions of the characters look. Even though it was a bit cliché, it was cute how . I loved to see how all the characters come together at the end, giving the manga some found family vibes. It’s great to see how much they all developed in the course of the story.
All in all, my feelings towards Accel World are mixed. On the one side, I really enjoyed the world building and the designs of the avatars. On the other side, there’s the absolutely terrible depiction of women and little girls which ruined the series a bit for me.
