Rate this book
Caroline Anderson’s life consists of finding her new normal after her divorce while burying herself in work and trying to scale the corporate ladder as quickly as possible. But, when a busted pipe forces her to telework, she decides to take a break from the city and head home to see her aging parents in Great Falls, Montana, a town full of painful memories that she’s tried to avoid for over a decade. Two days into her trip, she runs into Levi, her high school sweetheart and brother’s best friend whom she spent a year falling in love with, only to have their future disappear unexpectedly following a tragedy. But, even after a decade apart, Caroline can’t deny the magnetic pull between them never wavered. The years turned a boy into a man who knows what he wants, which is a second chance. But Caroline has to decide if she’s willing to let him back into her life and determine if her personal success is defined by her career or if taking a step back and allowing herself to love again is what she’s wanted all along.

Dare I say this is the best book from Liz Gordon?

This book is such a DELIGHT to read! Funny, heartwarming, and full of second chances, Meet Me in Montana is a beautiful story about two young hearts falling in love, failing each other, then trying to find a way to forgive.

"I used to know what to say to him...now I'm at a loss for words." My heart.

Gordon fully develops both Levi's and Caroline's characters in a way readers must root for both of them while also making us hold onto that maybe-it's-too-late feeling, which is exactly what a second chance romance should do.

I laughed. I cried. I fell in love with Montana. You will too.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. And I’m SO glad I did! What an amazing read! Having visited Montana for the first time this last year, I felt like the author captured it perfectly. The split story line, past and present, created the perfect tension. What happened in the past to drive Caroline and Levi apart? Will what’s happening in the present bring them back together? And the little bit of spice was delish! This was a heart breaking, feel good love story. A must read!

Hello world, I’m in a Liz Gordon novel!! I think this means I’ve made it.

Newly found muse-hood aside, I have to say it’s been so lovely to experience the evolution of Liz’s story telling in her third book. Once I finally sat down to read it I finished it in less than 2 days, swept up in Caroline and Levi’s story. Enjoyed the commentary on choices, what drives us to make them, and how we handle their consequences (even when I didn’t always agree with their choices). And while I knew in my heart where the plot was taking us with Caroline’s family, I still found myself stricken with emotion when it finally revealed itself. Well done Liz—your best yet! Can’t wait to see what’s next.

I can’t explain why I love second chance romance so much, but there is just something about watching a relationship grow, crumble, then build back up again. I loved Caroline & Levi’s story. Watching them fall in love, experience family heartbreak, lose each other, live their own lives, and reconnect through a now and then timeline was perfection.

Read this if you like Love & Other Words + Every Summer After.

Thank you for the ARC!!

I LOVED this book! I was intrigued to keep reading more and more from beginning to end. This heartwarming book tells a romance story of Levi and Caroline. The Now and Then chapters really helped me understand the history and layers of their romance past and present. Not only does this book captivate you with young love and second chances but describes a beautiful scenery of the books setting in a small town located in Montana. Meet Me in Montana will definitely satisfy your romantic heart. A must read!

This book was everything I needed to start off the year. I fell in love with Caroline, Levi, and all of the other wonderful characters Liz created. Being set in Montana was just perfect and brought me back to my time living there. Liz did a wonderful job on this one and you must read it! If you loved “Love and Other Words” by Christina Lauren as much as I did, then this book is 100000% for you. I didn’t want it to end.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 on here.

This was sent to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I’m all about supporting my indie authors out there so when I saw Liz offering her ARC of her brand new book on Instagram I jumped at the chance.

If you love the YA romance type of novels you would thoroughly enjoy this. Told from our FMC POV, we are shown how a love story progressed between her and her brothers best friend as teenagers, and I truly loved that part the most. It was as realistic as can be in a time of teenagers and how we love blindly and without regrets and the unsettling emotion of a first heartbreak. You could feel those emotions with them.

And the storyline with her brother, was gut wrenching and Liz portrayed the grief of this beautifully.

The storyline jumps back and forth between the falling in love as a teenager to the couple as present-day adults with over a decade of lost time between them. This is also a second chance romance which is one of my favorite tropes, but in a way kind of fell flat for me. I think things fell together too easily for me, and maybe I was just looking for more of a fight of passion or groveling.

Overall, this was a cute read and if you love dual timelines, brothers best friend, second chance romance, small towns and dealing with grief you will enjoy this book.

Thank you again to Liz Gordon for a copy of this book.

In a world of instant gratification and relaxed morals, Levi and Caroline's love story was refreshing. They met in high school, and their attraction and love for each other grew innocently. This novel was written in the past and current presences. I loved reading about when their knees knocked under the kitchen table or their hands grazed each other which both sent goosebumps up and down Caroline's spine. Nothing can compare to the depth of your first love. It is intense and consuming. And luckily for Caroline, her first love was a true gentleman.
Thank you Liz Gordon for an advanced read copy of "Meet Me in Montana" in exchange for an honest review. I honestly loved it!

4.5 stars (why can’t goodreads just hop on the partial star wagon? Storygraph is more fun)

I definitely recommend reading this book!
I laughed. I cried. I felt all the emotions of Caroline and Levi.
My heart broke even though I knew what was coming.
I felt like the writing was stronger in the beginning/first half, but it wasn’t something that truly mattered in my experience because I was already attached to the characters and their story.
I was rooting for them the whole time and it felt like I was watching two friends (who are meant to be) get back together.

5 big beautiful bright stars for this incredible Indie Book - Meet Me In Montana by @ecgordon

🚫No Third Act Breakup

Just to name a few! This novel contained everything I love in a romance novel. Family! Fun side characters/friends! A second chance! Going back in time! Small town fun!

I enjoyed learning about Caroline’s past & witnessing her as a teenager, banter & love shared with her older brother, & when she first meets Levi. That’s the fun part about reading a dual timelines novel - the past slowly helps put the pieces back together! Plus we all remember how it felt to be a teen & fall in love for the first time.

& watching her life in the present unfold, putting pieces together, & wondering just how Levi & Care will mend their relationship back together. It drove me crazy wondering what did Levi do to break her heart? & once I learned - SWOON! Like - still over here melted in the floor while sobbing. So good!

I can’t say much more without giving anything away but this book was incredibly sweet, such a fun read, & one of those books that will forever be in my heart! I read this earlier this year but hadn’t posted my review on Bookstagram yet. ♥️♥️♥️

Talk about second chances. This is the most heartfelt second chance romance I’ve ever read. You have heartbreak while dealing with grief, loss, sadness and forgiveness.

MEET ME IN MONTANA is told from Caroline’s point of view and goes back and forth between then (her in high school falling in love with Levi, her brothers best friend) and now (recently divorced and returning to her hometown). While reading I was anxious as hell for both stories. I kept wanting to read about her past to see how it has affects her future all while I was holding my breath waiting for her and Levi to come together in present time. The high school romance and then present time rekindling left me swooning.

I am now left with wanting to visit Montana. The author did a great job of making you feel like you were living in a cozy small mountain town going to get coffee at Big Sky every morning. I loved it.

There are so many great things to say about this story. First off, I am a big fan of the second chance love story trope...I love it, when it's done right. And Meet Me in Montanna was does right! It's a beautifully put together story about Caroline and her brother's best friend, Levi. We get to see them slowly start to have feelings for each other in the flashback chapters, while the current day one's focus on what happens when they "run into each other" again while Caroline is visiting Montanna after being away. There was tons of chemistry and when we find out the reason Levi left... what he did... ugh. My heart! This is definitely one of my favorite indie reads of the year so far and I cannot wait to see what else Liz Gordon comes up with next.

The angst that comes with second chance romance is unbeatable. They’ve been there, they’ve done that, it didn’t work out…but there’s SOMETHING there…but is it enough? You get all of that and so much more with this beautiful story that takes place in an equally beautiful place.

High school sweethearts reunited is absolutely my favorite brand of second chance because it takes a couple who loved each other before they were old enough to handle all that comes with true love and gives them another go. The push and pull of this story was so well done and I’m so impressed with the way Gordon delivered it. It was truly a pleasure to read.

This book was a breath of fresh air, you don’t want to miss this one!

Dual timeline is tricky but this book bounces back and forth well. This is a mature woman trying to find her life again, post divorce. But that second chance romance is the cure to everything.

“My stomach feels unsettled. It’s like that hollow feeling you get when you take a dip on a roller coaster and shoot back upward, leaving a piece of yourself at the bottom of the tracks.”

This book got me in the feels but it also had appropriate humor and very relevant. I’ve never been west of the Mississippi, but I’m itching for the beauty and weather described in this book. She did so well describing.

I’m not normally one for a romance story, but I immediately fell in love with this story and it’s characters. I didn’t want to put it down. While I read each THEN chapter, memories of my own young adulthood rushed back. Liz knows how to tug on your memories and heartstrings with her writing. I’m hopeful that there is a sequel to Meet Me in Montana so I can follow Levi and Caroline along their journey.

3/5 stars - It’s a slow burn with minimal spice if you’re into that sort of thing with second chance romances. Mainly chose to read this one because the author is a former military spouse turned active duty service member and I always want to do my best to support them! I did enjoy the book though.

I loved this. I had times where I was crying like a baby and other times where I was rooting for love. I also had it on vacation where I had a full blown cry session. On the beach and I’m not upset about it at all.

I just want to start by saying thank you to the author for providing me with an E-ARC for review!

I can tell a lot of time and love was put into this story. The teen love/brother’s best friend storyline was beautiful—I really think that whole arc would have been perfect as a stand-alone YA romance novel (or part 1 to a YA/NA duology!!!). We need more brother’s best friend YA romances and less love triangles haha. I also felt so many emotions because of Caroline’s brother’s storyline. It would have easily been a 5-star from me.

Sadly, my favorite adult romance trope is second chance romance and this one was lacking. A big part of Caroline’s backstory was how she went to weekly therapy sessions and made so much progress re: the traumatic events that happened as a teenager. However, no therapy sessions were shown in the book, and Caroline’s choices as an adult were not reflective of “progress.” And if “thinking she made progress but realizing she didn’t make progress” was a part of the storyline, it wasn’t clear. Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan is a great example of therapy sessions and progress shown within a romance novel*

So, to sum it up: I loved the teen love story in this one, but I was craving more from the adult love story. I didn’t feel their connection as adults aside from Levi being really hot 😐

After tragedy ultimately led to the end of her relationship over a decade earlier, young Caroline painfully decided to move on the best she could by starting a new life in a new state. Now in her early thirties and back in her hometown of Great Falls, Montana, she is forced to face the past she has long tried to forget when she unexpectedly runs into Levi, the boy who broke her heart all those years ago. It doesn’t take long for Caroline to wonder if what they had may not be totally lost, and if she can handle the risk of giving Levi her heart once more.

I knew Liz Gordon was a phenomenal thriller writer after reading “Liar Liar House On Fire”, and now after reading “Meet Me In Montana” I can say she is just as great at writing romance. This book is DELIGHTFUL! I love romances that are full of deep and raw emotion and this story has just that. I love how the story is Caroline and Levi’s but also Caroline’s family’s. You get to see more than just romantic relationships, but really special family relationships as well.

I totally devoured this book and I think all you romance lovers will too!✨

This beautiful second-chance romance caught me by surprise! The story starts off a bit slower moving than the books I have been reading lately, and yet Liz Gordon managed to captivate me completely. I fell in love with the sweet & tender story of Levi and Caroline. Through hidden glances, secret messages, and stolen kisses, Liz paints a beautiful picture of falling in love for the first time. As the story goes between past & present, you will experience love, heartbreak, & forgiveness. What really caught me by surprise, though, was how this story was so much more than just a love story between two people. It's about family. It's about surviving grief that is so painful it steels your breath & numbs you to the world around you. It's about sacrifice. It's about finding what truly matters in life. Meet Me in Montana is powerful & breathtaking. It will bring tears to your eyes & leave you feeling warm in the end.
