A Fate of Smoke and Ash

Rate this book
To be woven by the fates is not for the faint of the heart.

When the skies split and the veil between Earth's realm and the Godly realms is lifted, the prophecy awakens in the form of eighteen-year-old Shivalri Grimsbane, she with the blood of all three realms.

In her lifetime, Shivalri never thought magic to be more than a fairy tale. Though raised unaware of her witch-hood, she quickly learns that her lineage is full of enchantment. Through a string of destiny, her magic has come to fruition, unruly and unknown. Designed with the sole purpose of fulfilling an ancient legend, Shivalri's duty is clear: repair the veil and keep the Gates from opening and unleashing Heaven and Hell unto Earth. At the spill of her blood, she is a divine key under the guise of a mortal.

When disaster strikes and plans go awry, a window opens at the Gates of the Under Realm for Pyre Malum, Daimon of the Dead. With the blood of the new Triple Goddess at his fingertips, Pyre Malum's chance for revenge is sweeter than ever. Cruel, ruthless, and amassed with wrath, he takes her prisoner in the Under Realm in hopes of breaking her into submission.

The young witch must work to get back to Earth, at any cost, before she is forced to doom the world at the hands of her malevolent captor. As they learn to work together, one for vengeance, one for secret escape, Shivalri discovers that the world is not all as it seems. As her feelings toward the exiled God turn from resentment to a fiery mess of confusion, her virtue and damnation clash to rule her heart.

When the fates string a destiny, the leave no string unraveled

Will her cords light the way?

I got about 30% through the book and could not finish it. The story seemed to drag. The flow of writing seemed off. I didn’t like the characters. I tried to keep going but I feel like I’m just wasting my time when I could be reading something more enjoyable. 🤷🏻‍♀️

“I’ve got you. No one will ever hurt you so long as I breathe.”

Spice: 🌶️
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I will admit that this book took me a bit longer to read than what I had anticipated, but that doesn’t mean anything was wrong. Just probably shouldn’t have so many books on the go when in a busy month.

A Fate of Smoke and Ash is the debut novel for the lovely @shaniascichilone. I think one of my favourite parts of her writing style is that she doesn’t skip out on describing things. About 60-70% of the book was world/character building. I know some people don’t necessarily like when this happens but personally I love it. I’d rather have too much instead of not enough.

Poor Shivalri is really thrown through the wringer in this book. One minute she is living a normal life, then she loses a loved one and her life gets flipped upside down. Her father becomes a drunk, she moves with her brother to live with her grandmother only to find out she isn’t a normal teenager. She’s a witch. I wish I could say it ends there. She is the Goddess that the prophecy spoke of. Before she can really soak all of this up, she is kidnapped by the God of the Dead, Pyre Malum.

This was well done and leaves readers with a major cliffhanger of an ending. Trust me when I say you will be left wanting to read the next book. 😅

Shivalri is an ordinary teenager from a good home. Waking up from a nightmare, she goes to school with a heaviness weighing her down. And when her brother and mother are involved in a car crash - leaving only her brother as a survive - her entire world turns upside.

She runs to her gran, who has always been a bit on the odd side - with her tea leaf readings and suspicions, where she finds out that she is a coming-of-age witch - from a long line of witches - with a greater power than she could ever begin to imagine.

A prophecy is awoken by her as she is the Triple Goddess, a divine being capable of traveling between realms and opening the gates to these unknown worlds. Shivalri is in grave danger because of her power - a power she cannot nearly begin to understand - and is taken by the God of Death into the under realm. For Pyre has one purpose, to use her to open the gates and set him free. Only, not everything is as it seems.

My thoughts:
I really enjoyed this read so much. The cover art is an absolute masterpiece. The book was slow at first as Shivalri, too, had no idea what or who she was - so there is alot of world building before the dots can be connected because we are learning about her heritage along with her. But the story is so intriguing and her journey was so captivating. I loved the variety of characters, I loved how different mythology was woven together. I actually really love Pyre and I hope that he becomes the love interest in book 2. The ending left me NEEDING more!!!

This new YA fantasy novel was really good for a debut novel! The first half was fairly slow but I honestly enjoyed that. These characters world is completely turned upside down and they’re actually given a chance to work through some of their grief before “taking on” the antagonist. The way the author illustrates grief is so powerful. I felt very very connected to Shivalri based on what she was going through and her process of grief. It was truly beautifully written. I’m hoping some loose ends are tied up more in the next book. There’s some gaps in the servants involvement in the betrayal that I’m excited to figure out. Pyre, the love interest was growing on me a whole lot but he’s got a lot of things to figure out… hoping for a redemption arc?? I’d definitely recommend this book! I really enjoyed it, I think the writing is beautiful

This book has gotten me out of a 6 week reading slump. If that doesn’t tell you how much as I loved it then let me discuss further.

First the world building…usually I’m not one for expansive world building and often get bored but the author does it so well. She provides adequate information in a well mannered way that keeps the reader interested in witchcraft and Greek mythology elements.
Although it’s not a true Greek mythology retelling I could tell it was heavily influenced especially hades and Persephone with the MC and love interest.

Second…the tension…it is YA spice level with such great tension.

Lastly: the disability rep. The MC is diagnosed with RA and scoliosis and it plays a good part in the story. It isn’t just mentioned and then dropped off as the story goes along which is FANTASTIC rep!

Overall I’m still sulking at the ending…don’t worry there is a book 2 coming…but I had some whining I did to the author about making me wait to find out more of what happens.

This feels very much like a more fantasy focused version of Shatter Me! The internal monologue and writing style is incredibly similar, and unfortunately it just isn't my cup of tea. So if you wanted something written like Shatter Me, but more fantasy vs dystopian, you'll probably love this!!

What a whirlwind of a book! The beginning is slow, and there’s a LOT of extra dialogue I feel was very unnecessary to the story, so it could’ve cut the first bit in half and made the book a bit faster paced. However, once Shivalri gets taken by Pyre, things pick up very fast.

The premise of this girl finding out she’s a witch but then finding out she’s not actually a witch, she’s a goddess, kept me going the whole time until we got to meet Pyre. I also love the inclusivity of her not being perfect, having human ailments (like rheumatoid arthritis for example), and still being a very powerful character (who just has way too much internal dialogue for my taste, but besides the point).

I know some want to see Pyre turn out good, but **trigger warning** he is an abusive guy who Shivalri needs to leave behind. He physically abuses her multiple times, emotionally abuses her, and I hope the reasoning for this is to remind the readers that abusive love interests don’t actually love you, they love the power they have over you. He has no real excuse for how he acted the whole time, and the ending made me hate him deeply. He cares more about himself and his image than Shivalri. I’m so excited to see more about his brother and rest of his family, and I hope to the Gods he is much better than his brother. I’m also curious to know if they’ll explain why the original Triple Goddess banned only Pyre (though I can start to guess by his actions). To all who are reading my review, nobody should ever touch you, emotionally manipulate you, and you should never have to walk one eggshells in fear of making them angry.

Very excited for the next book though!

The Grimsbane family matriarch Sabine Grimsbane-Cormier suffered the losses of both her twin daughters, we do not know why this family is known by the grandmother's maiden name, or why she and her grandchildren are all so nonchalant about death. But one day a catastrophic earthquake occurs in every country in the world, resulting in a splitting of the atmosphere, red skies, and yet "little to no destruction below." However, Shivalri Grimsbane-Gray's mom did die, while driving her son Raidan to school. Shivalri and Raidan's dad, suddenly an alcoholic, has used up all his bereavement pay and the family's savings to buy alcohol; he drinks beer, so their family savings must have been quite meager. This makes sense actually, because Shivalri says he only earns twice what she does, and she makes minimum wage at the public library. Despite her father's incapacitation and lack of funds, Shivalri is certain he will take good care of the family dog, while she drives her brother (who was just a passenger in his mom's fatal car crash) from Boston to their grandmother's mansion in North Carolina, where phones don't work, except when they do. We do not know why the grandmother gave a car to the grandson who doesn't drive instead of to the granddaughter who does. Shivalri is 18, her red hair is dyed blonde, she has a big personality, suffers rheumatoid arthritis and night terrors, and she loves books. Shivalri only has one friend at her new school, but her best friend is her 19-yr old cousin Satyra who also has night terrors and lives with their grandmother and works full-time as a manager at the docks, where she can't take time off to attend her aunt's funeral.

At their grandmother's mansion, all three Grimsbane cousins discover they have mysterious magical gifts. Satyra is a seer, even though she doesn't evidence any talent in that arena; Raidan is a healer like his mother was, which explains his magical recovery from the accident that killed her, but not why she didn't address her other child's juvenile rheumatoid arthritis for 14 years. Much like cartoon characters who get smashed by anvils and thrown off cliffs, only to rise and be violated again and again, Shivalri is poisoned, thrown down pits, skin ripped off, body slammed, face lacerated by claws, punched in the nose, and then she falls in love or lust with her abuser, which is maybe not the greatest plot device for YA. Gods don't feel pain, but Shivalri does, endlessly, and despite being a Triple Goddess. After being holed up in a wretched pit for five days, body broken and bloody, when Shivalri is finally presented with soap and water and clean clothing, we do not know why she tries on the fresh clothes first, before bathing herself.

This work of YA Dark Fantasy is a young author's debut novel, a "series starter," that ends in what I consider an artless cliffhanger. I think in good works of fantasy fiction, the actions that characters take make sense because of clearly established plot lines, character traits, and relatable or understandable modus operandi. I found A Fate of Smoke and Ash very hard to read because nothing that was happening made sense to me, and it was brutal and violent and untied to any meaningful themes, merely graphic in nature for the sake of nothing apparent. But perhaps all will be revealed and prove meaningful in subsequent books of this series.

"A Fate Of Smoke And Ash" is a thrilling and captivating fantasy novel that takes the reader on an epic journey into a world where magic, prophecy, and destiny collide. The story follows Shivalri Grimsbane, an eighteen-year-old with the blood of all three realms. Shivalri had never thought of magic as anything more than a fairy tale, but she quickly discovers that her lineage is full of enchantment, and she has the power to fulfill an ancient legend.

As the veil between Earth's realm and the Godly realms is lifted, disaster strikes and Shivalri finds herself imprisoned in the Under Realm by Pyre Malum, Daimon of the Dead. Pyre Malum seeks revenge and wants to use Shivalri's blood to open the Gates of the Under Realm and unleash Hell upon Earth. Shivalri must escape and return to Earth at any cost, or she will be forced to doom the world.

The novel's world-building is vivid and immersive, with an intricate mythology that is both fascinating and believable. The characters are well-drawn and have complex relationships that add depth to the story. Shivalri is a compelling protagonist, and the reader cannot help but root for her as she battles to save the world and escape from her captor.

The plot is fast-paced and action-packed, with many twists and turns that keep the reader engaged. The romance subplot is well-executed and adds a layer of emotional depth to the story without detracting from the main plot. The themes of destiny, fate, and sacrifice are woven throughout the novel and add a philosophical dimension to the story.

Overall, "A Fate Of Smoke And Ash" is an excellent fantasy novel that will appeal to fans of the genre. With its well-drawn characters, intricate mythology, and fast-paced action, this book is sure to keep readers engaged until the very end.

A Fate Of Smoke And Ash" is a debut fantasy novel that takes the reader on an adventurous journey into a world of myths and magic.

The female protagonist Shivalri had never thought of magic as anything more than a fairy tale, but as the story unravels, she discovers herself to be the key to fulfilling an ancient prophecy.
On her journey to uncover the mysteries of her lineage, she finds herself imprisoned in the Under Realm by none other than the Daimon of the Dead. Pyre Malum is on a quest for revenge and wants to use Shivalri's magic to open the Gates of the Under Realm and consequently unleash Hell upon Earth. Shivalri has to learn quickly how to navigate these new elements and worlds to escape the Under Realm and save her home.

The plot is fast-paced and action-packed. While the reader has to learn about this new world, it never gets confusing because we learn alongside the protagonist. This allowed me to enjoy both the fast and slower moments of the story as it was never boring nor was I overwhelmed with confusing worldbuilding.
The romance is definitely a subplot but it fit quite well with the character arcs and added another layer of complex to the story.

I’m for sure one of those readers that a cover can make or break if I read the book or not. The synopsis of this book felt kind of convoluted for my taste but the cover was the deciding factor for me to read it. Dark, Mystique from the X Men inspired and mythology inspired.
We meet Shivalri, a regular senior in high school whose life gets turned upside down. Her life takes a blow when her mother dies in a car accident but even she couldn’t guess that the same day the sky would split open. The veil between the earth and the gods realm has been torn open.
Going into this book I really did not know what to expect. Reading it felt like a Persephone and Hades sort of retelling.
Mix in witches, demons, gods, and heaven and hell. And you got this book. It doubly was a pleasant surprise of a book. I found myself getting sucked into the story with its unique world building and history. It did have some points where it kind of dragged but overall this book left me feeling like I had to read the sequel now.
Would I recommend it? Sure I actually enjoyed this book more than I thought I would.
I would give it 3.5 stars.

Thanks to the folks at NetGalley and the publishing house for this book for a copy of this book. My review is a honest reflection of my feelings towards this book.

I've got to say i loved this book even more so with the slow build to start with before the action kicks in!

When everything you have been raised to believe is literally no more and the fantasy's of magic in childhood are your reality. What a trip... Or is it ? When your life is set on a predestined path.

Then in crashes Pyre. Making for a whole host of questions, confusion, frustration among many feeling she has for and towards the God.

One set on a path of vengeance the other on the hunt for an escape to keep the world from falling into destruction, can they work to save everything as well as themselves? (I Need book 2 now where this is hopefully explored more!)

I loved the mythology aspect throughout the book and think it would definitely encourage young adult readers to explore more.

Also the inclusion of scoliosis!! I LOVE!!! - I have inoperable scoliosis and to see it included within a story in such a way is absolutely amazing!!!!

I cannot wait to see where the story heads in book 2 if book 1 is anything to go by we are most definitely in for a treat.

The cover to this book is so gorgeous definitely be an idea to recreate for Halloween this year! Love it!

Thank you to Netgalley for the eARC!

Shivalri witnessed a traumatic car accident when the sky broke. After her mom's death and her brother's recovery, she decides to visit her grandmother and cousin near Salem, where she finds out that everyone in her family was a witch and she herself is a witch and so much more.

The first half felt like a YA novel for a younger audience. The world-building was based on stories the grandmother told. It didn't feel as natural, and it wasn't as much fun as it could've been. It all felt almost childish?

The second half was way better. But it felt like it was a different story. The FMC didn't talk like she had in the first half. She sounded more mature. I enjoyed this much more.

It is a Hades x Persephone retelling but with witches, demons and other creatures. I surely enjoy myself a good retelling but this felt more "meh". It was too repetitive (e.g.
the banter between the family) and the FMC whined a bit too much.

The cover design for this book doesn't fit the vibes and is honestly misleading.

I will read the second book, and I hope for a bit more action.

🗡 YA Dark Fantasy
🗡 Strong Family Bonds
🗡 Ancient Prophecy
🗡 Witches, Gods, & Monsters
🗡 Under Realm

This book has a lot of world building, especially through conversations. The first half of the book was on the slow side as we learned with Shivalri her lineage. The mythology was well woven in and beautifully done, but I felt like a lot of it could have been cut down, and we would have the necessary information. I almost DNF'ed the book in the beginning, but I sticked through it after reading other reviews about how the story picked up, which happened about 60% in the book. That's where the story got interesting, and the enemies to lovers and underworld trope come in. I definitely liked the second half and ended with loose ties for another book to be written.

Personally, I would not continue this series, but I would recommend this book to certain people, especially those who love slow burns and world building.

Thank you Katie and Brey PA for the ebook copy of this book. This is my honest review.

A Fate of Smoke and Ash by Shania Scichilone took me on a journey through realms of magic and destiny that left me with mixed feelings.

At first, I struggled to stay engaged with the slow pace of the beginning, but as the intricate mythology unfolded, I found myself drawn deeper into the story. Scichilone's skillful weaving of magic and prophecy added layers of depth to the narrative, although I felt that some parts could have been trimmed to keep the pacing tighter.

It wasn't until halfway through the book, when the mysterious male main character and the underworld were introduced, that my interest truly sparked. The dynamic between the characters and the exploration of the underworld brought a new level of intrigue to the story.

Ultimately, while A Fate of Smoke and Ash wasn't entirely to my taste and I don't foresee myself continuing with the series, I would recommend it to readers who enjoy immersive world-building and intricate plots.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book.

This book was a difficult read for me. I was excited based on the premise, however, there is a lot of work that needs to be done. The language of the book became overly flowery/descriptive in places it did not need to be or just did not make any sense. An example, "I could almost swear that the scorching waters came straight from my eyes as I soaked in the moment." or "It poured down like a jet, throwing me against the wall." Both of these are in reference to showering.

The author could have used to some guidance, feedback and a lot of editing so help this story to flow more smoothly.

The other thing that really stood out was how many things happened in such a short period of time-at a new school, an earthquake that caused a car to crash, the sky is turning red and then her brother is mostly healed within less than a day of the earthquake. That is in just the first 7% of the book. I think this could've really been a great story of some changes were made.

I finished this book last night, and this review has been consuming thoughts since. I have never been quite so torn by a review.

Reading A Fate of Smoke and Ash is like reading two separate books. I struggled to get through the first half. I didn't want to not finish it, so I skimmed through what I felt was too much information with a lot of it being repeated. There was also a lot that didn't make sense to me. If Shivalri's mom had healing magic, why didn't she heal Shivalri? If Shivalri's dad was incapable of taking care of her and her brother, why did they leave the dog behind? Why wouldn't you tell your kids that they were magic before their powers manifested? Wouldn't that prevent them from freaking out?

Then I got to the second half, and I was pulled in. I loved the interactions between Shivalri and Pyre. Seeing her learn to control her powers was fun. And the ending ... that was a complete surprise. I'm curious to see what happens in book 2.

An unfortunate incident sets the family apart. And then the big secrets unveil themselves followed by the innumerable emotions and removal of the veil of all three realms. Shivalri get to know about her family heritage but when the secrets haul off, the danger also encapsulate itself and the unthinkable happens. When I started reading the book, I wasn’t knowing what I am getting myself into but as I read it, the mystery begins to get deeper and the world became more intriguing. It was compelling. I loved the grandmother’s character. I felt sad for some characters and some truths surprised me. I mean wow such an intriguing characters and brilliant world building. I love when emotions controls the inner powers. I love the description of three realms. And I felt that there is some hidden plan but I loved Pyre’s character. I can’t wait to read next book by the author. It is a YA dark fantasy with elements of mystery and mythology woven in the story.

Shivalri Grimsbane who endures heart-wrenching trauma as she witnesses her mother's death and her brother's near-fatal encounter. This traumatic event triggers a rip in the realms between Earth and the gods, unveiling her family's true identity as witches, with Shivalri being the most powerful among them. She is either blessed or cursed, depending on how you see it, with the blood of all three realms. This makes her a gateway between realms and a target of supernatural beings. Heartbreak, betrayal, trust, love, and fear entangles Shivalri’s world but with her lack of control of her powers how can she protect her family and herself?

“A Fate of Smoke and Ash” by Shania Scichilone was slow at the beginning but totally worth it in the end. I liked the conflict with Pyre and his aggressive personality, it’s a great enemies to lovers trope. I’m interested to learn more about Ember and the other gods in the next book Shania Scichilone writes. Perfect 5 out of 5 stars.

While an interesting story, I found that this book didn't quite live up to my early expectations which were based on the description.

There was a LOT of material at the beginning of this book which I thought could have been cut significantly and would have still conveyed the necessary information to get the reader to a point, contextually, that the entire book would have still made sense. However, I applaud the author for the really well-woven mythologies used in this book. There are bits taken from many belief systems and cultures that are used beautifully together to create a world in which there are things like witches, beasts, Gods and Goddesses, and even other realms.

While it was slow to get going, the story definitely gets more interesting and, eventually, you really don't want to put it down. I hope there's a sequel to this one which might tie up some of the loose threads present near the end of the book.

This is a really unique fantasy story. I really liked the storyline and how it changes and turned.
The worldbuilding is great. The worlds where the story is set is beautiful and really well written. You get a lot of information whereby you get the chance to imagine the world which the story places in.
The story is full of history, Greek mytholgy and witchcraft which makes the story interesting and fantastic to read.

Shivalri is a strong character and she a disability namely scoliosis and rheumatism. Dealing with her disability doesn't make that she gives up.
The sidecharacters are written in-dept and make a great addition to the story.

Shivalri has a love interest but it isn't a normal relationship. The complexity of their feelings and doubts make this even more interesting to read.

I want to read the next book as soon as possible.

A Fate of Smoke and Ash is a YA fantasy about a normal, teenage girl named Shivalri who's life is turned upside down after her family is in a horrible car accident. Shivalri decides to turn to her eccentric grandmother during this tough time. Upon arriving at her grandmother's house, her grandmother reads her tea leaves and Shivalri receives a prophecy that will change her life even more than it already has been.

There were a lot of interesting elements to this story but unfortunately, I had to DNF this one. I only got 25% in before deciding to put it down. The characters in this book read a lot younger than they are. Our main character is supposed to be 18 but she read more like a 14 year old to me. The writing style also was not working for me and was a bit confusing and slow. Again, there were a lot of interesting concepts in the story but it just didn't work for me personally.

A young adult romantasy novel by a Canadian author! 🇨🇦

Summary:
Shivalri is a normal teenager in high school. When a tragic car accident takes her mother’s life, her world crumbles. She runs away to her grandmother’s where she learns that her lineage is that of witches. She is then taken prisoner to the underworld by god of the dead. While in the underworld, she’s trained and gains more ability to control her powers.

Review:
I really enjoyed this book! It felt slow to pick up at first, but at like 20% it starts to make sense why the story was unfolding it was. The action really picks up about half way through book.

I’ve read other retelling a based on Hades & Persephone, and the pacing was on point in this story. It didn’t drag too much like some other books do and it gave me just enough information to be able to connect all the dots as the story kept moving along.

This book ends on a MASSIVE cliffhanger. I am really happy I picked up book two this past weekend because a girl’s got to know what happened 😳😅

😈Hades & Persephone retelling
💎Coming of age
⚖️Good vs. Evil
🧙‍♀️Witch & Goddess MFC
👹Devil MMC
👎Non HEA (Happy Ever After)
🌶️ One heavy make out scene but not central to the book (she’s only a teenager)

I was pleasantly surprised with where this story went. It started out just as a regular fantasy, when Shivalri, turns 18 and learns of her powers and the secrets her witch family have been keeping, then boom, all Hell (😉) breaks loose. We have a cult, gods, witches and an endless list of creatures and beings, and Pyre, God of the Dead 🤤. Pyre kidnaps Shivalri with the intent to use her power and free himself from the Under Realm. It gave me lots and lots of Hades and Persephone vibes 🖤💜🖤.

I need for Book 2 to come out because I am just like Shivi hanging from that cliff 😂

Side note: As a person recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia it was very refreshing to see a character with other chronic illnesses (RA and scoliosis)

I found the first half of this book quite slow, it was a lot of story and background for what was to come that seemed to drag on a bit and I do think could have been halved. I did however persevere through it and enjoyed the second half a lot more. There were a lot of complex mythologies woven together and the author has really done their research and they came together well, it's an awful lot of detail but did make sense. I couldn't figure out where the book was going but ended on a really interesting cliff hanger. The character development was good and I'm intrigued to see where it goes in the sequel!

I thought I was going to really like this book from the synopsis and the content warnings, but I was sadly let down. The first 25% of the book was just too slow for me and I had to DNF it. There was something off in the flow as well. Like moments that could be a little longer were cut short, and information that was not needed was added in. Also, there are scenes at the beginning that seemed very unlikely to happen (in the hospital) and I just could not get over it. I might try to read it again in the future because I have heard the second part does get better and the ending has a twist but at this moment I just can't do it.

Overall I quite enjoyed this unique story and am hanging to read the second instalment - 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳. The cover is stunning, the world building was beautifully written with elements influenced by Greek mythology.

What stood out to me above all is our main gal Shivalri and her having rheumatoid arthritis and scoliosis. I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to have positive disability representation for a main (and strong) character.

I think the only thing I was a little unsure about was Shivalri’s love interest as it seemed cruel at times. I’m interested to see how this complex relationship develops.

First and foremost this cover is an absolutely masterpiece. There’s a lot of build-up/background in the first half of this book but I enjoyed the story telling. The first half actually reminds me a little of The of Rules of Magic. There is a lot of world building but this really helps the reader understand Shivalri’s journey and adds more depth and complexity to her character. The second half of this book really picks up and I was hooked. I’m team Pyre all the way and can’t wait to see more of his character! The different mythologies woven in this book are very well portrayed and one of my favorite aspects of this read.
