Sons of Valentino #3

Soulless Devil

Romeo

Romeo: fictional, someone who can fall in love with his whole heart, without a shred of
doubt.
The thing about fictional characters is just that; they’re not real.
That kind of love doesn’t exist outside of the pages of books.
At least, that’s what I thought…
Until I saw her.
And it was like getting shot, like taking a led bullet straight to the heart.
It hurt, burned deep in my soul.
She isn’t the Juliet to my Romeo. Because she doesn’t simply come from an opposing house.
She comes from a completely different world.
Hers is all sunshine and rainbows, where mine’s darkness, violence, and crime.

Livvy

One thing I’ve always been sure of is the difference between right and wrong.
It’s how I’ve lived my life. The perfect member of society, following all the social norms.
Never straying from that path or crossing any lines into the grey.
So how can the events of one night shift my whole outlook on the world? Have me teetering
on that ledge of villain versus hero?
I knew tutoring the infamous mob boss’s son was only going to lead me to trouble. What I
didn’t know was what Romeo Valentino would teach me instead.
He’d show me that life isn’t meant to be a set of black and white rules. That, sometimes,
good people do bad things for the right reasons.
Romeo is a good person, as long as you don’t get on his bad side…
Can two opposites really overcome the odds? Or is this love doomed to end in tragedy?

“For the first time in my life, I have something real to lose.” 😭

Trigger warning : Rape (not the MMC)

We start the book off with Romeo the third Valentino brother who’s the smartest but not the most popular brother he gives major don’t approach me vibes until he notices Livvy in the library who tutors and can’t keep his eyes off her and before he knows it he’s watching her everyday - Yh it’s kind of creepy but cute

He then decides to email her for tutoring sessions bearing in mind he’s super smart and it’s for English lit which he doesn’t even take just to speak to her 🥹. After the first session he finds her in a club drugged takes her home and looks after her not understanding his feeling as he’s never been in love but he know he just wants her close . Why can’t I find a Boy like this in my uni 😞😤

“I can’t get it off. I need to get it off,” I cry as I continue to scrub harder.”

The story takes a turn when Livvy feels like someone is constantly watching her and following her and tells Romeo. Romeo being part of the mafia promises her safety and goes for the weekend to his family only to return to Livvy curled up in her bed sobbing because she was raped by the Russians. Honestly this part broke me it was just soo upsetting seeing her this way and Romeo felt responsible for leaving her unprotected and was ready to get revenge for her

“I don’t think you do get it, Livvy. You’re not fucking leaving. I’m not going anywhere. I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere.” 🥺

Romeo is a literal gem The way he blamed himself and did everything to protect her was everything.

“I’m… damaged.” - This broke me

Livvy was the cutest female lead what she had to go through was unimaginable and she was so so so brave because rape isn’t something you can get over it’s traumatising. It had me In literal tears and I’m soo glad she not on only had Romeo but his family to support her.

“Ten grand, I say five minutes.” Theo is the first to speak up.
“I’ll match your ten and say seven,” Luca counters.
“Four minutes,” Matteo adds.”

- they're talking about slitting a man leg and then tying him upside down to see how long it will take for all the blood to drain out 😭💀

What I love the most in this book is the bond between the brothers the humour and loyalty is amazing and how they take the each others girls in as their own sisters is truly beautiful

“Who the fuck made you cry?” he growls.

“Luca jumps to his feet from where he was sitting just outside the room.
“Do you need something?” he asks.
“Why are you on the floor out here?”
“I… I just wanted to be close, in case you needed something.” He shrugs his words off like they’re not a big deal. My eyes well up at his kindness. I was wary of Luca when I first met him. Now I’m starting to see behind the tough, playboy exterior he wears like a suit of armor.
“Thank you. But you didn’t need to do that.”

The best part was definitely the bond between Romeo’s twin Luca and livvy and how he cared for her and how he noticed she was crying even before Romeo did. What stole my heart was when Romeo went out and left Luca with Livvy and she opened the door to Luca sat outside her bedroom door just incase she needed something after she’d been raped🥹🥹🥹

The one thing I’ll critique is how on earth did Romeo leave her alone after the threat he saw on Livvie’s phone like he wouldn’t have done that so I’m just annoyed at how this had happened because the way Romeo was he’d never leave her unprotected like that

This was definitely an emotional rollercoaster so I advice a packet of tissues no actually scratch that an unlimited supply will be REQUIRED.

“Soulless Devil” is the story of Livvy and Romeo.

College based, YA insta love romance between a mafia prince and a cops daughter. It was ok overall but I hadn’t read the TW and the incident totally threw me off enjoying the book (it’s a personal hard limit for me and I don’t like reading about it in my romance books).

Hence not for me

Read in one sitting

Romeo is hands down my Fav out of the Valentino Brothers.

He was just so charming, to sweet and sooo cocky or confident whichever way you want to look at it 😉

Olivia the good girl, rule follower the last person you’d expect the bad boy to fall in love with.

Together they just fit. Romeo stole my heart the way he was with Livvy after what happened to her.

Great read cannot wait for more.

Oh Kylie you did it again you gave me another Valentino boy to fawn over. These boys are something else. This book gave me the mafia feelings I needed today. Soulless is what I needed to read. Romeo was the one I needed to know about and this opened my eyes to him. He was the perfect mix between his mom Holly and Theo. Livvy was what he wanted and what he went after. I love how these boys dont hold back when they want something. The love Romeo and Livvy shared was perfection. The way he cared for her and helped her I admired. These two were truly great together. I will be sad when this series ends.

This was definitely different than the other books in the series, i would say darker, it touched on a sensitive topic.

Now let me make you simp for Romeo

1- He ends his emails to her with
"Yours,
"Romeo Valentino"
(Keep in mind that he just introduced himself to her 🥹)

2- Who doesn't love a man who keeps saying that he's not romantic but all of his actions scream OBSESSED AND IN LOVE

3- He quotes Mr. Darcy (swooning)
“You have bewitched me, body and soul.”

4- His name is Romeo what are you expecting?
“Aw, you always say the sweetest things.”
“You say the sweetest things, Romeo.”

i'm not sure what rating i should give to this book. the writing, story flow, and characters were written excellently. it's just that this was too insta-love/insta-lust for me.

romeo
- he basically observes (putting it mildly, when we all know it's stalking) her for a week then planted some sound bug to listen to her conversations during her tutoring lessons in the library. then since he can't get her out of his head, he faked a tutoring session with her (sounds stalk-ish enough?)
- he comes a bit overbearing that at times it's downright annoying instead of sweet. the readers all know he just wants to protect her but maybe he could lessen the steamrolling
- i really don't wanna blame him but it's gnawing at me (i'm just annoyed, this will pass)
- i don't like that he lashed out at luca when he gets angry and annoyed, they're supposed to have each other's back. he should just walk away when he starts to feel the urge to punch something.
- i admire how he stayed with her and make her comfortable, how he tried to give back her control, and help her with her healing journey
- he's whipped, obsessed, possessive, jealous, territorial, and for someone who doesn't believe in love and marriage he sure as crap good at this thing.

olivia
- it's not just insta for the hero it's the same with the heroine. how can you fall for someone in a week? i know this is fiction and sometimes being ridiculous is part of the story, but again it's still didn't sit with me.
- it was listed in the trigger warning the non-consent yet i'm still not prepared to read what happened to her, and it's freaking cruel
- i just wish she talked to someone. i might not be a victim and i can't imagine the pain and trauma she's going through. she was not given the chance to speak up to someone, it was mentioned but it never happened. anyway romeo was there to help her slowly heal (still seeking out a professional help would be nice)
- she's so resilient after what happened to her, not everyone can probably bounced back immediately after that

things that idk how to come around with
- it was never explained the relationship of the OW to the russians? i mean how, why, when, where, and what???
-
- way too insta like i mentioned, but is it really possible to see your future with someone at a very young age? i mean good for those people who find the love of their lives while they were young
- she was supposed to pursue family law but in the epilogue
- also was there a mention what careers they have in the epilogue? i think nothing was stated.
- honestly, some of the lines were to cheesy even for my liking that i'm either cringing or having second-hand embarrassment

things i liked
- the use of quotes from classic novels
- the bond between luca and romeo and their other family members
- the way how izzy handled the OW scenario
- no third act breakup

overall i liked the book, looking forward to the last book which again where a hint was given that it was insta-love for luca.

This books contains a content warning, please heed authors advice

His is book three of the sons of Valentino series

We get to delve into Romeo and Olivia’s story

Romeo is a playboy and Olivia is an introvert; both from completely different worlds.

But somehow Romeo is drawn to her, so he sets out to learn everything he can about her, in the most inconspicuous way. Under the guise of needing her help, he contacts her for tutoring sessions, only he gets more than he bargained for.

Olivia is enamoured by Romeo, but she knows their relationship is strictly professional.

Romeo begins to feel things, things he has never felt before, and he doesn’t know how to make sense of them. He makes his intentions clear to Olivia, he is claiming her as his.

Olivia has a smart head on her shoulders, she has this feeling of being watched, and it proves correct when she finds out she is being targeted. Only in one night it all changes, and she finds herself in a situation no one wants to be in.

Olivia closes herself off from everyone and everything, but not Romeo, when he barges his way in, and he sees her, when he learns what happened to her, he is angry and livid that he wasn’t there for her when she needed him the most.

Romeo inserts himself into her life. He will not let Olivia suffer alone in silence. For he is her rock and strength, and with him by her side, she will get through her trauma, in time.

Romeo is fierce, as he is loyal, dominant, protective and possessive, with his twin Luca by his side, do they avenge Olivia, getting the justice she deserves, in the process setting off a chain reaction of events Romeo or Luca did not foresee. For if Romeo had to do it all over again he would.

And Romeo has accepted the inevitable, for now he has the love of his girl Olivia, and she for him.

And those bedroom scenes were blazing hot and their HEA was absolutely perfect including that bonus scene, because Romeo can definitely hold his own.

Highly recommend both author and book.

2.5 ⭐ You know when you read something that is so bad, it is somehow good-ish? That is how I feel about this series, I know it’s not great, I know the plot is not developed, and yet, I still want to know what happens. I think I just like the Valentino family - however the way I am thinking about these mafia men instant love connections, is to think of them like Fae or Shifters with Mates from the Moon Goddess, because that is the only way to believe this shit is real in any form - I know this is fictional, but it is nowhere believable how these connections happen outside of Matteo, his was believable but his story wasn't that great either.

This story does have SA (on page) not by the MMC

Romeo and Livvy were fine, but they are both 19 and the development of their relationship was the least believable, however Lucas (next book) his story isn't looking too promising on the believable scale either, but these books are short and easy reads and something to read when your in between books and in a "book funk".

Oooooo boy what an emotionally packed, charged and beautiful story. This is one addiction I don't ever want to give up...

Livvy and Romeo are perfect for each other in every way apart from one is a mafia prince and one is a Cops daughter...although, that obstacle is not gonna stop this Valentino.

The conversation between these two is intellectual and yet charged, the attraction is instantaneous, when they do come together yuuuummm the heat...however, not everything is plain sailing for this couple. Two different worlds collide in this unputdownable down tale.

I can say I smiled, I laughed, I was awed, my heart broke, my heart was fixed and my Kent addiction grew even more. How this author brings out so many emotions and so much investment in her characters is second to none.

Roll on Luca's story!!

Oh Romeo Romeo.

His and Livvy’s story has played out in the background of the previous books. And that barely scratched the surface. On this book we get their beginnings as well as their pull at your heartstrings and sexy moments. And you’ll just swoon as he falls hard in Valentino fashion.

The story has its sweet and steamy moments but there is some serious dark moments that may be hard for some. And let’s say you’ll be happy on how Romeo and his twin handle their enemies.

Love these two and am dying for Luca’s story after that ending.

* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

Just Keeps Getting Better

I love this series and these protective, alphalicious brothers. Somehow each book is better than the last.
Romeo and Livvy were a brilliant match. The story flowed so effortlessly that once I picked it up I couldn't put it down.
The small little blurb in the epilogue about Luca has me on the edge of my seat. April can't get here fast enough.

This one just took over as my favourite book by Kylie Kent. I love both Mafia and School tropes and to have them together was so exciting. There are some hard to read scenes that had me crying. I love how protective and obsessed Romeo was. His stalker tendencies are cute.
Can’t wait for the last book about Luca, the small part shown was very interesting.
