I have no idea why he thinks I had anything to do with Danielle’s accident. My only crime was being in the vicinity when she fell down the stairs.
Being forced into therapy for stalking, though, is well over the top. But my therapist, Justine, is quite the character. I know what she wants to hear, and I’m also a master at playing the system.
When she twigs what’s really on my mind, she might not be so cool. I’m starting to enjoy watching her try to unravel my secrets. And make no mistake, there are plenty of dark corners to explore…..

"Right Behind You" is a dark and twisty psychological thriller that will not be the "right" book for all readers.
Unfolding from the POV of a self-proclaimed female stalker who was sexually abused as a child, it's certainly not for the faint-hearted.
If you're a reader who dislikes repetitious text and a plotline that is frequently all over the place -- (where was the editor????)----this book also will not be the "right" book for you.
I listened to the 9.75-hour audiobook that easily could have been a 7-hour audiobook.
SO WHY DID I KEEP ON LISTENING?
The book was read by Antonia Beamish, one of my favorite narrators. Antonia Beamish did a stellar job with the narration and, therefore, I listened to the book in its entirety.
It's not easy to get things "right" and since the book's premise was strong, I certainly will be giving Diana Wilkinson a second chance.
**TRIGGER WARNING** This book is not for the faint hearted due to some disturbing contents - stalking and child abuse.

What a dark and disturbing read. Based around child abuse and how events that happened in the past can affect people as they get older. Beverley is quite a dark character. she is attending therapy as she had been stalking her ex-boyfriend Scott and accused of pushing his girlfriend Danielle down the stairs. Justine is Beverley's therapist, and she knew all the answers Justine wanted to hear. But things take a different turn when someone starts stalking Beverley. Even though the pace is on the slow side, this thrilling read enters a whole new form of craziness. It can be quite difficult to read due to some of the contents. I was pulled in from the first page.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #DianaWilkinson for my ARC of #RightBehindYou in exchange for an honest review.
Now this is what I expect from this author A proper crime thriller and so much more. Edgy intense and impossible to put down. Gripped from the first to the last page and constantly holding my breath. Someone needs to be punished let the games begin. Loved it!!! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC
Beverley Digby is a stalker - so the law says. She, however, is not so sure. However, she now has to complete a series of visits to a therapist who will need to sign her off before she can get her life back. So who to believe? Beverley, or the ex who has made claims against her?
This is a stunning read. I see-sawed between liking Beverley and loathing her due to the very clever writing. I was never really quite sure but, boy, did this one keep me reading! I'm not going to give away anything but, trust me, this is as full of twists and turns as it gets! I've read this author's work for quite some time now, and she never fails to produce something that little bit different to keep her readers guessing. Highly recommended and so easily meriting all five glowing stars!
There is nothing like being in the mind of a psychopath/sociopath/whatever kinda path you want to call it! And I love me some good stalking. I'm probably going to have to explore these things about myself in therapy, but first this review! I very much enjoyed this story. It had some good stalker-y moments, a character you're not supposed to love but kind of do, and a few twisted elements. Nothing earth shatteringly new to the genre, but good nonetheless. Now where is my therapist's phone number?
Due to tragic circumstances in her childhood with her parents and uncle chuckles Beverly Digby isn’t working with full deck. When her ex boyfriend insist it’s her fault his girlfriend Danielle lost the baby Beverly is sentenced to counseling. It’s something she definitely believes she doesn’t need because it’s just a coincidence she happens to be everywhere Scott and his new girlfriend are. Things are looking up for Beverly however she starts dating married Trevor and quickly becomes just as obsessed so much so she renovates her home and makes rooms just for his children for when they all move in. Despite the fact he told her he wasn’t leaving his wife Queenie and their relationship was over. Beverly thinks it’s just a matter of time before they whined up together. She also befriend Scott’s new girlfriend who “coincidentally“ she goes to the same language school with. His girlfriend finds the stories Scott tells her hard to believe because she really likes Beverly and can’t imagine her being the crazy ex Scott makes her out to be. Things take a turn though because in the middle of Beverly stalking all her targets someone starts stocking her. We find out many sad things about poor Beverly‘s life and I really did feel bad for her despite the fact she’s a predator of sorts but can I just say this book is OMG good!!! Diana Wilkinson has a devious devious mind and she has treated us to such a crazy deep dive into madness that we can all sit and read from the comfort and safety of our home. What a thrilling ride it is. Every now and then you run across a book that grabs you in the beginning and doesn’t let go until the end and that is Right Behind You by Diana Wilkinson this is a book I definitely highly recommend if you love fun thrillers then read this awesome book! I received this book from NetGalley and BoldWoodBooks but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
Listened to over an hour of this on audiobook, but wasn’t holding my attention. Also was similar to a previous book I read recently (dark themes), so retuned early. Might try it again another time.
I enjoyed the twists and turns of this mystery and the way it kept me on my toes. I also appreciated the moral ambiguity of the characters and how none of them were ever fully spotless.
The main character Beverly has a dark character, not only character, even her past was too dark to unravel. She was regularly attending the therapy due to stalking her ex-boyfriend. Beverly was accused of her ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend Danielle fell down the stairs.
Beverly’s therapist Justine thought herself was doing a great job in helping and saving Bev.
However, Beverly was too good in playing this game. She knew exactly what answer you wanted to hear.
Until Beverly was stalked…
This contents included stalking, child abuse and honestly it’s quite dark for some people. What Beverly has experienced in her childhood shaped her current behavior. It’s not easy to complete the whole story, but still this slow-burnt thriller had few unexpected plots.
Many thanks to Netgalley, BoldwoodBooks and Diana for this thriller.
Right Behind You by Diana Wilkinson is dark, chilling and sinister. It is not for the fainthearted as it has multiple trigger warnings of stalking, miscarriage and child abuse. Diana Wilkinson has done an excellent job of delivering a psychological thriller with effective and well-placed twists and turns. Beverly Digby's stance of taking matters into her own hands has a tragic and painful beginning. However, she doesn't understand why she needs to attend mandated therapy for one event when she happens to be in the same area as her ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend. And his girlfriend happens to lose their unborn baby. Things take on a downward spiral when Beverly is, in turn, stalked. Beverly is a queen of deception who is highly skilled at covering her tracks and stringing the right words together. There were certain sections of the book where I felt deep sorrow for her. The parallels between the past and present, Beverly's relationship with her therapist, Queenie and the supporting characters are well fleshed out. The only minor flag for me was that the last few chapters appeared slightly drawn out. Diana Wilkinson is a talented and skilful writer, and I look forward to reading more of her work.
Thank you NetGally & Boldwook Books, for giving me an ARC. This honest review is left voluntarily.
'Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive'
A perfect way to describe Right Behind You.
Beverley has a few issues to say the least. After being sexually abused as a child by her Uncle Chuck and his sinister murder which was never solved.
Beverley has a tendency to stalk her ex boyfriends Scott amongst others!
But when Scott leaves her for Danielle the red mist takes over and when she discovers that the new girlfriend is pregnant nothing will stop Beverley trying to take revenge. Especially when Scott forced her to abort their own child leaving her unable to have any more children.
An accident involving Danielle losing her baby and her break up with Scott puts wheels in motion for Scott to blame Beverley for what happened. Even though there was no evidence to support the claim Beverley had to seek therapy for her stalking tendencies.
And her therapist Ms Evens has her own demons to hide.
The story unfolds with so many twists and pulsating moments that I wasn't sure who was the 'bad guy's. Absolutely fantastic book and I couldn't wait to find out the ending.

Beverly has been in therapy due to her dark past. She was stalking her ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend Danielle when she fell down the stairs.
Justine her therapist believes she is making progress in helping Beverly.
However, Beverly is good at saying what people want to hear.
Story is describes as dark. I am okay with dark and creepy but just could not get into this story.
I read and love Girl in Seat 2 A I gave it 5 stars and I give very few 5 star ratings. My expectation was high so was disappointed that this was only okay.
Reading Between the Wines book review #42/115 for 2023: Rating: 3 🍷 🍷 🍷 Book 🎧: Right Behind You Author: Diana Wilkinson Genre: General Fiction (Adult) | Mystery & Thrillers Available now!
Sipping thoughts: Wooh! Can you say crazy? Deranged? That is the tone of this book and the characters within. This is the first Diana Wilkinson book and won’t be my last. I enjoyed following this story of the stalkers and the reason for wanting revenge. The story pulled me in right until the very last chapter.
Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @BoldwoodBooks for an advanced copy of @RightBehindYou.
Beverley is in therapy for stalking her ex boyfriend. She is an accomplished stalker, it isn't the first time. She feels she has to control every situation. She caused her boyfriend's new girlfriend to take a tumble down the stairs, but no one can prove it, Beverley is far too careful. But it isn't such a lot of fun when the stalker becomes the stalked.
This is a very dark book. It deals with child abuse and a child that kills. I am still trying to figure out if I enjoyed it a lot or am just chilled at the events that caused a girl to become a stalker. To be honest I felt very uncomfortable throughout the book.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book.
Right Behind You by Diana Wilkinson is a dark and twisty thriller. Beverley, the main character, is in therapy for stalking. She doesn't understand why her ex thinks she had something to do with his new girlfriend's accident. Her only crime was being in the vicinity when Danielle fell down the stairs.
Beverley's therapist, Justine, is quite the character. And Beverley knows what she wants to hear. Beverley is a master at playing the system. There were many twists and disturbing scenes in this book. Some parts of the story are slow and tedious to get through. That is why I give this a 3.75 out of 5 stars (rounded to 4).
Right Behind You follows Beverly, who's in therapy for stalking her ex boyfriend and his girlfriend.
There are a few threads running through the book, seemingly told from 2 different perspectives. I fear saying too much will spoil the plot, but the storyline is neatly wrapped up at the end with a few twists thrown in for good measure.
An enjoyable read that's well-paced and keeps the read engaged throughout.
I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy through Netgalley and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
A very good representation of this genre. I like unreliable narrators and having to figure out their motivation for inventing or altering the truth. There are a lot of secrets in this story, not just from our main character. The present day characters are somehow linked to a crime that happened decades earlier and the common denominator is revealed slowly as the story progresses. There is more going on 'behind the scenes' than merely Bev's stalking, including her targets. There is indeed a method to her madness. It all comes together in a clever wrap up
Paedophilia, stalking and revenge......you're hooked immediately into a story where almost until the end, you are not too sure of who is doing what and to whom! Diana's writes in the 'first person' in this story and although this may not be to everyone's taste, it does help to confuse the reader as to the guilty parties. Lots of twists and turns to confuse you however it is also a great page turner as you try to figure it all out.
This author writes wonderfully edgy thrillers that keep me guessing. The book features stalking and is written in such a manner that I want to know more about the reason and why the stalker feels the need to continue doing this.
I’ve read other books by this author with a similar story line and this one was also very good. I needed more of a break before reading this book because it didn’t seem new and fresh. A few months from now, would likely have found it to be much more fun to read.
This was a very dark and twisty thriller that isn’t for the faint hearty as contains some very disturbing and upsetting scenes and a storyline based around child abuse and how the events of the past have shaped how the characters have become as adults. In places this was a difficult read.
Another fantastically written, heart pouding thriller from Ms Wilkinson. What a superb writer this lady is! Every word is carefully chosen for maximum inpact from the creeping quiet slow build up to the final denouement. A 5* thriller that I highly recommend.
I have read this book before under the Tittle of 'The Girl who Turned a Blind Eye' in 2020. It was really devilish read then and still is now second time around.
