Sigh. I hate to be here, and I hate saying this. I honestly felt like I read something totally different from all the raving reviews I’ve seen about this book.

I normally love every book I decide to pick up, especially when they have all the INCREDIBLE themes and tropes I found listed when describing this book. That’s why I applied for the arc, was because this book sounded like something that would easily be a five star read for me. It wasn’t.

Now please, do not take my advice on this completely. The beauty of this is everyone’s opinions are subjective and different! You may love this book like so many others. But for me, I am super disappointed I didn’t love it.

Firstly, I found myself constantly dozing off or mind wandering as I read. There’s SO MUCH in this book, but I also felt like nothing ever really happened and I know very little, if anything, about the main characters. So many words, so much rambling… but nothing. I had to force myself to finish this book because I saw some reviews saying the ending made up for the first 85-90% of the story. Not for me. I just sat there afterwards like 😐😐😐🫥

I’m a lover of dark romantacy books. But like… the love interest(s) usually do something to redeem themselves after being and doing, you know, dark things. 🤣 but like… they didn’t? I’m trying to keep this vague and spoiler free lol. Nothing was ever done, or actions to make up. The FMC just kinda shrugged off what happened and then we just kept going and I’m sitting here like… wait, no. Did you not experience what I sat here for literal chapters experiencing with you? 🤣 and the synopsis sounded SO GOOD!!! To hunt the matriarch to win the crown?! Omg yes. Fae vs human queen?! YESSSSS 👏🏻 but it just fell so flat. I think there was what, 5-10 pages of any actual “hunt” going on? I learned soooo little about each character and love interest. I sat here for DAYS afterwards just so upset I didn’t love this book, at all. I wanted to so badly. But I didn’t. I won’t be continuing, I’m very sorry.

But I do hope that this doesn’t sway you and you still at least give this book a chance, perhaps this is just me and the book may become something you love! But this book wasn’t for me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The fae are fickle, wicked things—and the worst thing a human can do in their presence is be interesting.

Pacing: ★★★★★
Characters: ★★★ 1/2
Sense of mystery: ★★★★
Romance: ★★★ 1/2
Tropes: why choose, male/female pairing, unreliable narrator, multiple love interests, faeries, deadly game/competition, primal(ish), morally grey, enemies-to-lovers, slowwww burn, unresolved mysteries in first book.

FRIENDS, I am so happy to be reviewing this indie fantasy romance. Let me tell you why: it is one of the rare few that's managed to completely and utterly enthrall me with its fae.

As a Holly Black, Melissa Marr, and OG faerie reader, I like my fae the old way. I want them to be unable to lie but viciously able to talk circles around their truths. I want them to be inhumanly powerful and jaded by their long lives to the point where normal moralities have left them. I want them to have personalities and jawlines sharp enough to cut a knife. I want them to feel undomesticated and wild, like a predator that you know you shouldn't bring inside your home.

(I don't think these things are too much to ask.)

Wilde Fae delivers on THOSE kind of fae. And I was so here for it.

There are no wings here, no shadow daddies, no "I'm big and tough but yet still somehow super empathetic". (There's nothing wrong with those traits, I hold them as my precious in their time and place.) The fae men of this novel are actually dangerous, they do not care if you make it to the end of the night, and the only thing that truly terrifies them is boredom.

So for our main character, Lonnie, the true terror she deals with is this: she's interesting.

Lonnie is interesting to the fae every day, due to some odd spark in her aura that she's terrified to acknowledge. Being interesting is already bad enough—but when one fateful night leads to a shocking outcome, Lonnie finds herself in a whole new realm of unwelcome fae attention. And it's a toss up on whether she's going to survive to the end.

The wicked brothers of the Everlast family all have different reasons to hate Lonnie. But due to the bindings of their house and the situation Lonnie finds herself in, they can't end her... yet.

Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer….

Clearly, I loved this novel and had a lot of fun reading. Here are some specific, non-spoiler reasons why:

- The slowest of slow burns. It's rare to have a fae-based romantasy where the characters build their tension in a realistic time frame. I loved that this novel didn't speed things up to fit anything into this first book in the series.

- The unresolved mysteries. The fae and Lonnie are all holding their own secrets, and again, in a unique turn of events this novel does not reveal any of them. I'm hooked on the unknown, and I'm thrilled that these questions are propelling us into the second book without a ton of hasty reveals.

- Not bogging the reader down with dense descriptions. I'll repeat, I'm a fan of Holly Black. Which means I'm a fan of a story that is plot first, dialogue second, and descriptions third. I can set the scene myself with the colors of the room and the outfits and the set decor and etc.—give me the action elements, as that's what I want. This novel danced that line perfectly.

- And again, for the people in the back, the depictions of the fae. I enjoyed the commitment to their fickle, vicious natures. Lonnie's never actually safe, which makes sense due to the setup. But there are enough crumbs there for a us romance girlies that keeps this story from being a dark/grim romance. This is NOT a non-con/dub-con scenario, it's just a morally grey setup with some dangerous players.

THIS BOOK 🔥 Perfect for fans of The Cruel Prince who are looking for something 18+, spicier and darker!

The best chance of survival for humans is being as invisible and uninteresting as possible, to avoid catching the eye of the Fae. The fae in this story are truly wicked and can’t lie so they often twist their words, the most dangerous being the royal Fae princes. Lonnie, a human servant working at the castle, has always been too interesting to go by unnoticed, specially by the two Fae Princes, Bael and Scion. During the Wilde Hunts, by wicked fate, somehow Lonnie ends up killing the High Fae King. Now she must survive the Wilde Hunts herself.

The author does a tremendous job in pulling the reader in from the very start and keeping our eyes glued to the pages. The story is fast paced and has a wickedly dark atmosphere. Lonnie herself is a very mysterious FMC, we know she’s somehow different and the author gives us hints throughout the story as to why. There is a timeline jump but I was able to follow the story smoothly. The best part for me was without a doubt the two Fae Princes. I am sucker for morally grey men, specially the wicked and villainous ones. Don’t count on any heroes in this story! Lonnie goes through humiliation, incarceration, torture, trickery… and the best part that makes it all worth it: a slowburn enemies to lovers with a why choose romance 🔥

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy for review!

This book had potential, but unfortunately it didn't hit the mark for me. By the 40% mark I had to call it. At the outset, I had this creeping feeling that there weren't any real stakes for the MC--is she in this terrible situation as a human (??) servant set in dangerous feudal "survival of the fittest" type world where fae ruled mercilessly? Did she have a big secret to keep at all costs, even from her sister? I had no idea. But a couple chapters in, I hadn't learned much other than that she cared about her sister and had some really strict rules passed down from her dead mother...oh, and the fae were powerful and Very Bad Guys. I think we were meant to care about how that all happened (mom being killed and all), but there was too much thrown at the reader at once to be able to wade through to clearly understand Lonnie's goal.

I get there are a lot of books who leave this kind of thing a mystery, but in spite of the info dumped worldbuilding (king this married to queen that who begot this fae and that fae and lived in Overland or Nomansland or Summerland or wherever...), I really had no idea what Lonnie was after long-term--nary a hint. So, that brings me to the stakes: no clear goals for the mc = no clear stakes if she doesn't acquire it. If Lonnie's goal is survival, and staying unnoticed, then the author needs to give laser-focus on that (and really show us how terrible it is for Lonnie and what it costs to keep herself hidden from the faes' notice). Instead, we got a trip to the apothecary and some tree f*cking, then all of a sudden a wild hunt was happening (still no idea what that entails) and a fae Coachella with tents of debauchery.

There were a lot of inconsistencies I couldn't overlook. At one point, Lonnie was supposed to be going to sleep, then she got distracted by looking at a box (with a crown in it) in this fae's bedroom, then there was a knock on the door, then several paragraphs later it was morning? I reread this scene 5 times and couldn't for the life of me find where she actually went to bed and slept. It's also annoying to chapter-hop between characters who are also really unclear in their motivations toward the MC and their goals. Why should I care about their POV? Make me care, author! Give them personalities and goals and struggles and what-not. If they know secrety-secrets, I'd rather have everything in Lonnie's POV and learn what I learn from her POV along the way. I want to feel in cahoots with this character as she battles the big bad fae bastards who are duplicitously kind and unfairly powerful. But dangling the knowledge that other characters (who have power over her) have about her without coming out and saying it does not build this suspense, and it makes me resent Lonnie's lack of knowledge.

Anyways, I think this book had potential to be good, but I think it needed a developmental editor to help iron out these inconsistencies in plot and maybe a group of beta readers who can chime in on where things don't make sense.

Gosh, what is with me picking books I don't like! It's like there's a drought of good books around me.

I'll be honest and say the princes gave me the ick right off the bat. The chemistry wasn't there, and their overall personalities made me want to throw rocks at them. After a few hours of this, I decided to read a few spoilery reviews

On to better books, I hope 🥺

It has been a long time since I have read a great fae fantasy RH. I loved this one! Lords of the Hunt is slow-burn but fast action. We have an actual enemies-to-lovers situation: The human, Lonnie, who has killed the High Fae King and is now the rightful ruler of the fae vs. The High Fae princes, Scion and Bael, and the rest of the Everlast family, who do not believe a human should hold the throne (and also want to unalive her). With such a defining line drawn in the sand, it is hard to see how they will ever get past being enemies.

This book grabbed my attention right from the start, and I was engaged in a battle between wanting to read as fast as possible to get to the end because I NEEDED TO KNOW and wanting to savor every word. The race to the end won, and I now wait, not very patiently, for the next book. It was worth it.

I adore Lonnie. She has grown up knowing to lie and to lie well to protect her twin and herself. “Do not call attention to yourself…” yeah, she messes that one up often. What gets me the most is how she is hiding secrets even from us readers, and I want to get inside her head to discover what is so vital for her to hide. I am not the only one, as the princes can sense something hidden, but they cannot get her to unlock the truth. The princes themselves hold their cards close to their chests, and while they cannot tell a lie, it is hard to parse out the truth in their words. As a whole, the characters’ interactions were fascinating, and I cannot wait to see how their relationships evolve.

The romance is slow-burn, though Lonnie starts having some more than PG-rated dreams about the princes early on in the book. The differences in their stations are a hurdle that will take more than a couple hundred pages to surpass. This does not mean there is a lack of sexual tension – that remains high, though it vexes all parties involved. We get a good idea of who might be included in the final number of her men, though I am hesitant to claim 100% certainty with any of them.

After that cliffhanger, I know I will be thinking of this book for a long while. I loved this new side of Kate King and hope she keeps giving us more from this fantasy world.

I hardly ever write reviews, except for you, Elizabeth.
But if I’m giving a book a low star rating, I guess I should explain.

This book teeters on a 2-3 star rating.
So many times I caught myself going “huh?” And having to reread the last page or two because there’s so much gibberish that you lose the point very quickly.
There is so much filler between dialogue that I had to go back and look at what was said last.
The story seems really convoluted and I was literally itching for things to just get to the point.
It took me so long to read this book because I kept convincing myself to just finish it.
Yes the ending is a plot twist but was there any surprise? No. Was there any shock factor? No.

I will say that I am a glutton for punishment so I’ll probably read the second book just so I can have some closure on whatever the fuck that story was.

And if you are hoping for spice in this book, sure there’s some hot broody Fae princes that want to kill the FMC while also wanting to get in her skirts (she doesn’t get to actually wear any pants during the whole book even though she’s been asking for them) but it’s mostly just a lot of frustration and heavy petting.

"A word of advice. Never run from monsters. It only entices us to chase you."💫

I'm baaaaack from my reading slump and this bitch is ready to review another one for ya! Lords of the Hunt is easily one of the weirdest fae books I've read, but momma loves weird shit.😅 The plot was dark and fast-paced with some added slow-burn spice I wasn't really expecting.🌶️ I like my fae males vicious, sinfully gorgeous, and unapologetic for their murderous tendencies. Morally grey shadow daddies with soft sides are cute and all, but give me an ancient, toxic-ass fae male who would rather shred me to bits...👀 Spectacular, I'll take seventeen of 'em with a bottle of sauce.

Plot:
Lonnie, a human servant bound to serve the High Fae court, has always kept her head down and tried not to catch the attention of the fae. Being interesting to them basically writes your death sentence. One fateful night, she agrees to switch places with her sick twin sister and pose as Rosie in the wait staff for the celebration of the most dangerous night in the Kingdom of Elsewhere--the night of the Wilde Hunt. Little does Lonnie know that switching places with Rosie will change her life forever. Trying her best to seem uninteresting and not catch the attention of the fae, Lonnie is shocked when Rosie shows up to the celebrations with a group of rebels and dies trying to murder the High Fae King. As a result, Lonnie's control breaks and she finds herself in a vengeful rage, killing the king herself.👑🩸 As she'll soon find out, murdering the High Fae King of Elsewhere puts Lonnie next in line for the throne...above even the two fae princes--Scion and Bael. She now must defend her crown in the Wilde Hunts--deadly trials in which the new queen may be hunted down without consequence.🗡️ Every full moon, Lonnie will have to fight for her life, and she must bargain with the vicious fae princes she just surpassed in the line of succession if she wants to survive...🌕💀

Worldbuilding:
Honestly this book is only getting 3.75⭐ from me mostly due to the fact that I didn't feel like the worldbuilding was there. I, of course, have read so much fantasy it is hard to not compare certain books against others. This book honestly just didn't have the best worldbuilding I've read in my life--it was patchy at best. This is a series, however, so I do have hope that it might improve as the books go on. I just wasn't entirely impressed... And it all started with the "Kingdom of Elsewhere." 👀Very creative.👀 I want a book to reel me into an entirely different universe, and this just wasn't it. If you have to set the scene yourself, then the worldbuilding is non-existent, imo.

Characters:
What made this book such a fun read/listen is that in the game of the Wilde Hunt all of the characters are dangerous. The fae in this book are written as fae should be--vicious, fickle, feral, and deadly. They are jaded to the point that morality is shattered, and all you see is dark fucking grey.🩶 I love an old-school fae male that cannot lie so instead dances around the truth with other truths, never truly revealing themselves and leaving others in the dark. They're inhumanly powerful. They're fucking predators. And of course terrifyingly beautiful. Kate King delivered on these males, let me tell ya!👏🏼 Prince Scion and Prince Bael easily made this book.

💫"I’d always understood that the Fae were dangerous. I’d always known that the Everlast family was powerful, even by Fae standards. But I’d never considered the horrifying possibility that all the atrocities I’d seen committed against humans my entire life had been the Fae’s idea of jokes. And they weren’t joking anymore."

Our FMC, Lonnie, on the other hand murders a fucking High Fae King with his own goddamned crown.👑 She's vicious in her own right, but way less able to handle herself in a fight of brute power. However, she is smart and cunning. She also isn't afraid to piss off the High Fae in order to advocate for the human servants or less fortunate people of the town. Courage is not something Lonnie lacks. There are still a lot of mysteries surrounding her character and the Everlast family that are never quite explained, though, but I have faith loose ties will be answered further along in the series.📚

💫"What violent tendencies you have.” He cocked his head at me, the corner of his mouth tipping up. “You’re a little monster."

Romance:
Listen, one of the opening scenes in this book had me 🥵. I was like, "what the fuck am I reading?!" As the story progresses the actual romance is slow-burn with a little bit of spice. This is definitely not a book I would classify as YA, but it's not quite the smut level I'm used to either😂 The relationship itself develops over a period of time that makes sense which I appreciate, and the characters together makes sense. You can feel the chemistry. The enemies-to-lovers trope is what breathes life into my soul, and it is executed well in this book.

💫“I’m going to devour you, little monster. You taste like magic.”

Audiobook:
I listened to most of this book on Audible, but did read portions of it on my Kindle. This was one of my "Stuff your Kindle Day" selections. I found this audiobook to be fantastic. The narrators do a great job. I love that it has two narrators--one for the males' perspectives and one for Lonnie's POV. They both are wildly talented and did all the different voices well. My only comment is that the female narrator did make Lonnie sound rather whiney at times, which grinded on my ears. I wasn't reading her tone like that on my Kindle so this kind of impacted my view of Lonnie. I eventually had to stop listening to her chapters on Audible, but it was mostly towards the end of the book.

Overall Thoughts:
I would say that if you enjoyed The Cruel Prince series then this may be something that would be up your alley. I, personally, don't love Holly Black, but I did read that series and I definitely think it is a good young adult prequel into books like this. Overall, I liked Lords of the Hunt enough to want to continue on with the rest of the books. I would give this first one a 3.75⭐. It was a fun read/listen that got me out of a slump. The plot is eccentric, fast-paced and full of devious characters that keep the reader on their toes. The romance isn't super spicy, but is a slow-burn and something that I can see developing into something hot, hot, hot further down the line.🔥 As of now, if you want a quick, fun read, I would recommend this book!

This was definitely an entertaining read. The beginning was a little slow, but definitely picked up through the rest of the book.
This was my first darker RH read. I’m not normally into the darker romance, but this one was definitely bearable to me. I think the romances will be more slow burn than the other RHs I’ve read in the past. Super interested to see how things will progress in the next book. Introducing the a new harem member? Curious to see who else will be introduced later on! Not to mention I need to know more about Lonnie and the reason for the fae to be so obsessed with her. Not to mention more on her sister and her unexplainable betrayal to the royal family. I wish this story held more than it did, but I hope things get sorted out on the later books!

High Fantasy

This was a good start to a new series. Lonnie is a human servant to the High Fae Court. Her life was forever changed the night she avenged her sister's death. By k3lling the current King, Lonnie became next in line to claim the throne much to the dismay of the fairies and even more upsetting to the High Fae Princes she recently demoted.

Keeping the crown comes with a d3adly price. In order to keep the crown she must survive her coronation which involves her participating in the hunt. A trail in which the newly crowned Queen is hunted.

Lonnie is stuck between a rock and a hard place dealing with Princes' who loathe her, humans being attacked by Fae as well as numerous attacks to the kingdom by rebels. Lonnie doesn't know who to trust and who to be suspicious of. The Fae hunt and murder humans and humans h3te all Fae. Lonnie is stuck in the middle of it all as the new mortal Queen fighting to survive in order to claim her throne.

This enemies to lover story is full of Angst, Political Intrigue, Bullying, Violence and Betrayal. Looking forward to see what's next in store for Lonnie because as everyone is soon realizing, there is more to this "mortal" that meets the eye.

This was a wildly confusing read. It’s like…ADHD, but make it a fae romantasy book. There are so many inconsistencies in the details, I had to wonder if the author simply lost track of her own plot while writing. I finished this feeling like I had no understanding of any of the characters, the story, etc. Oddly enough, the book 1 recap at the end of book 2 is a far better storyline!

The cry that tore out of my throat when I finished this book…I NEED MORE!

I also need everyone to read this. Please, I need to scream with others about it. Take A Court of Thorns and Roses and The Cruel Prince, make it darker and an incredibly delicious slow burn why choose enemies to lovers romance, and you have LORDS OF THE HUNT, book one in the Wilde Fae series. I’m not making these comparisons lightly. This story is full of romantic potential and brimming with real enemies to lovers perfection. It more than lives up to the comparison titles while doing its own thing. Such a fantastic read and one of my favorites of 2023 for sure!

Aside from the interesting worldbuilding, what I loved most about it are the fae princes. I know you’re not surprised, but what can I do? I am a woman of refined taste. I like fae—especially when they’re sinfully hot and incredibly dangerous. The author states on her page that this is a growing harem, and that we’ve met all the love interests already in this first book but that the harem will form throughout the series, which is intriguing because it’ll allow us to get to know all the love interests well. I’m fairly certain I know who will form the harem, but for now the two certainties are Prince Scion and Prince Bael, cousins, friends, both enemies of our protagonist Lonnie, both tied and/or drawn to her for numerous reasons—some of which we have yet to uncover. Scion is the classic dark haired broody warrior panty-dropper with dangerous powers and secrets, and therefore I love him immensely. Bael is deceptively charming and fun, but hides secrets of his own that we’ve yet to uncover and a far more dangerous nature than he lets on. Both fascinate me to no end, and I know I’ve found myself a successful reverse harem when I claim both men as book boyfriends. I want them both!

There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the main character, Lonnie, and the Everlast family. There are things that the characters know and say that are only hinted at and not explained. This is a stylistic choice, and it certainly adds to my need for the next book, but there was one moment where I felt a little too lost, which was during the one-year time jump.

As for the spice, I'm giving it a two chili peppers. The romance is a slow burn, so there weren't many spicy scenes yet, but what we did see was very nice and promises hot things ahead!

So excited for the sequel! I seriously can’t get this book out of my head!

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.

I am a fan of this author and have read a few of her books to date, but this is not her normal genre. At least, not that I have read.

As much as I love her gun-toting female leads, I have to say that I think this is her home. The world of sneaky fae males, as well as sassy and smart female leads who are strong but not the epitome of a man with no balls. Lonnie has been so much, yet she is not portrayed as this weak female or its opposite. She is how you would expect her to be: guarded and untrusting, yet longing to let her walls down and have someone she can rely on and trust.

I wanted to both melt for Scion and kick him. That male was confusing to me, and I just wanted to find out what the hell was in that letter his grandmother had written him. As for Beal...I loved him. I loved his playfulness, his snark, and as I watched him with her, I was on the sidelines with pom poms cheering him on.

This is a great fae fantasy romance, and it would be perfect for those days when you want to get lost in the world of magic, lore, and hot tricky fae males. I highly recommend anything by this author usually, but I think this will be top of my list of book recommendations moving forward.

I was given an arc copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

LORDS OF THE HUNT is a must-read for fae lovers. We have a human surviving among the fae, a deadly competition, deceptions and intrigues, multiple love interest in a growing harem…this book had it all! If you’re a fan of A Court of Thorns and Roses and The Cruel Prince, I guarantee you will enjoy this book as well!

The atmosphere dragged me in from the very first pages. When it comes to fae, I’m finding myself drawn more and more to darker atmospheres and dangerous fair folk who can’t lie but know their way around trickery, which is exactly what this book offers! I was immediately fascinated with the protagonist, Lonnie. I loved her strong will and sassy voice, but most of all I was very intrigued by her relationship with magic, which is something that carries throughout the entire book. And she’s not the only character with secrets!

Admittedly, the multiple mysteries surrounding the plot and characters make it difficult to immediately sense the full scope of what is happening from the start, but I was mostly just glad to let the story take me for the wild ride that it is. The author does a great job at peppering elements of the world building and lore throughout the novel rather than info-dump, and these moments help the reader formulate theories on Lonnie’s magic, Bael’s secrets, and the mysteries surrounding the High Fae politics. You can tell the author really took their time to build up every facet of this story, so I’m very excited to see where it goes.

As far as romance goes, this is definitely a great premise to the romance that’s to come! This series is a growing harem romance, which means there will be multiple love interests added on as the series progresses. If I guessed all the love interests, this harem will be fire because all of the characters have something that makes them unique and intriguing, but for now the love interests are the fae princes Bael and Scion. Both have a slow burn/enemies-to-lovers relationship with Lonnie, but Bael is the one bringing most of the heat factor at this moment in time (and he’s my favorite mysterious bad boy, so I’m happy). Very eager to see the future romance developments! For now, I’d say it’s a 2/5 spice.

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.

At a distance, Prince Bael was beautiful. Almost angelic. His perfect square jaw, sensual mouth, and bouncing red-golden curls gave him the look of a tragic hero in an oil painting. As he got closer, however, that cherubic facade cracked. There was something unnerving and predatory about his cat-like, yellow eyes. Something cruel in his razor-sharp smile that sent shivers down my spine.

The Wilde Fae series is a story of enchantment and treachery, true to the mesmerizingly wicked essence of Fae realms, like The Folk of the Air series has brought me to love, yet elevated to levels of feral intensity. In this gripping and profoundly dark fantasy, Lonnie, a human servant thrust into unexpected royalty, navigates the perilous Wilde Hunts—deadly trials where the new queen becomes fair game.

The narrative delves into realms of literal hell, portraying an FMC who undergoes harrowing ordeals. The MMC, far from being simply morally grey, emerge as truly villainous figures, adding layers of complexity to the intricate plot as they grow closer to Lonnie.

The Wilde Fae series masterfully weaves elements of suspense, captivating with its intricate dance between power, betrayal, and the haunting allure of dangerous yet magical Fae realm. With a narrative that guards its secrets as fiercely as Lonnie guards her heart, this series stands as a testament to Kate's skill in crafting a darkly enthralling fantasy.

Yessss!!! I need more! I don't typically read high fantasy, but I knew that it being by Kate, it would be AMAZING! And it was!

Lords of the Hunt comes out swinging... I was entranced with this one from the get go and I did not want to stop. Lonnie is trying to survive by following her mother's rules, but she has a hard time staying in her box.

Before we even get very far into the book, all hell breaks loose and Lonnie is forced to take matters into her own hands, or perish. She's strong, stronger than she knows and stronger than Scion and Bael expected.

Oh Bael! He puts on this carefree, humorous personality, but it's only masking the darkness underneath. And Scion! He's so wishy washy with how he feels. I know there are going to be more men added, and I can only assume who.

Now to the last part of the story. There is something deeper within Lonnie and I can't wait to find out what it is, but other things happened at the end and I am shook! My mind is going a million miles and hour and the questions are overflowing..

Obsessed!!

I can’t rave enough about this new series by Kate King, it is definitely going on my top reads of the year. I’m still processing what I read and I have so many questions! The world is awesome, I’m a sucker for world building so I wouldn’t have minded more but you get all the details you’re suppose to have. I will emphasize on have because you’ll need and want more and Kate isn’t going to give it to you, she‘s going to leave you hanging on the edge. The way the Fae avoid telling the truth (because they can’t lie) is magical but also frustrating, cause I just want answers! Lol

Lonnie’s personality it just brilliant, she’s definitely doesn’t have the physical skill but she makes up for it all in attitude. So much happened in this book I’m curious to see where we go from here and how Lonnie evolves within herself & her men.

If you like high fantasy with lots of plot & a slow burn, this is going to be your next favorite series!

Plus! You get a pronunciation guide and maps!

Have you ever read a book you knew going in you were going to love and yet it still swept you off your feet? I think that’s the only way I can describe @katekingauthor new fantasy series, Wilde Fae!

The first book, Lords of the Hunt, introduces us to Lonnie, a simple human living amongst the Fae in Elsewhere. She learned young to avoid the magical beings at all costs and blend into the background for catching their eye would end in ruin.

And catch their eye she did! What can only be described as a series of unfortunate events leads Ronnie down a path of bloodshed and loss, right into the hands of royalty.

This story is an intricate web of half truths laced with ulterior motives. The secrets and politics, combined with some stellar tension with some royal princes, had me turning every page desperate for answers!

Honestly, go run and read this! Kate has an absolute winner on her hands and you can bet I’ll be counting down the moments until book two!

Wow just wow 🖤

I love anything Fae and high fantasy and this book did not disappoint. So much is going on and when I thought I might get some answers, boom more questions arise.

The world building was so descriptive I felt like I was part of the story and was going everywhere that Lonnie was 😍

Bael was my guy but I also love the dark brooding Scion and them 2 together is 🤤

I had so many emotions with everything that happened and every page left me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next 😮

This is a slow burn but the spice I did get has given me a glimpse into what is to come.

That ending though, I knew it was going to be a good 1 but that was OMG 😱 haha! I now need the next book desperately 🖤

4.5 ✨/5

I think this is a great start for a new RH Fantasy series. Any fae-lover would love this book. It has great character building, it's not complex where you feel stupid, there's slow burn (with longing and dreams 😌😉), there's banter and teasing, enemies to lovers, morally grey characters, and such an interesting plot.

Bael is this stupidly handsome, aggravating, daring and fun fae that just loves to tease and be all 🥵 (reminds me of Cassian), while Sci is more of a BEAUTIFUL grumpy, quiet, morally gray and brooding fae (like Azrael). It's a great mix of love interests to keep the FMC busy, plus the fact that they want to kill her.

I CANT BELIEVE THE SECOND BOOK IS COMING OUT NEXT YEAR THOUGH 😭

The slowburn!!! Kate King teases you multiple times throughout this book that you just know when the romance finally falls into place, it’s going to be exquisite. 🥵

These alpha holes will make you want to kiss them stupid. I’m obsessed, and it should be wrong, but I love them!

Lonnie’s character was fun to read as she’s a strong female lead who’ll make these fae princes fall to their knees one by one! I’m also intrigued by her past and the truth that still needs to be uncovered. And of course, I’m excited to see her growth into becoming the badass queen I know she could be!

Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series. 🖤

Oh my gosh this book was so good. I stayed up way too late nights in a row reading because I just couldn’t put it down.

I LOVED how it felt very traditional fae with the bargains, vocabulary, qualities of the fae, and the world building. It was similar to Cruel Prince in this sense, but that’s where the similarities ended. This book was SO MUCH better than TCP.

I’m absolutely dying for book two and can’t wait to see what happens! Because that cliffhanger and all the twists leading up to it….omg I am unwell.

Thanks to the author for gifting me a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Have no clue what I read

I hate giving these types of reviews, but when I get 20 chapters in and I couldn’t tell you what the plot of the story is…there’s something wrong.

You know how some books have no description and you wish it did so you can see the story in your mind? Well, this book was so much description that, that is all it was. So it made it hard to read and follow.

The story did pique my interest from the very beginning. The characters surprisingly have a lot of depth as you go through the book. I love how she writes the romance in this book as well. I couldn’t predict where the plot of this story is going, but I’m very interested to keep going. I wouldn’t suggest this book to anyone, partially due to the language and partially due to the content
